Efren learned about AACF roughly a year ago when a friend told him about the organization which helps people in need. He was employed at the time so the thought passed through his mind as he wasn’t in need of assistance. He was reminded of AACF later, a few months ago in August when he began his Commercial Drivers License (CDL) training at Progressive Truck Driving School. Instructors at Progressive told Efren about AACF, that it is a good agency that helps out students in need. Efren then made a call to the AACF office and talked with a case manager there. The case manager filled him in on the process for receiving the financial aid which would cover the costs of his Progressive CDL. Efren then accessed the form on the AACF website to enter into the program and soon after went through online courses with AACF. The courses covered information about life situations, skills assessment, anger management, and job skills, and consisted of multiple choice and essay questions. After completing the courses he waited for about two weeks before receiving approval for grant funding which will cover the cost of his Progressive CDL. Currently Efren is working towards his truck driving permit which will enable him to continue his Progressive classroom work and then get out on the road for training hours. Efren has completed his CDL and is currently on his road to success!
