Prayer Guide
Evangelizing the Cities of Africa through Word and Deed in Partnership with the Church

![]()

“But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children” (Psalm 103:17).
Pray for Theuns Pauw and the AE South Africa Team in their preparations for the Johannesburg mission from Sept 5 to 15.
Pray for unity among the churches of Johannesburg and for close fellowship in sharing the Gospel across the city.
Pray for the leaders in Johannesburg – in business, media, education, politics and industry – that their hearts would be open to the Gospel as they hear the message.
Today is the first day of the Johannesburg mission. Please pray for smooth logistics so that evangelists can get to their speaking engagements, for energy and stamina for them for the ten days ahead and for the ability to clearly articulate the Good News.
Pray for new believers as they come to faith, that they would quickly find good local churches to join where they can hear God’s Word preached and make good friends who are fellow Christians.
Pray for Janet Mwendwa, AE’s Social Action Director, as she oversees all of AE’s community development projects that help pull people up out of poverty and give them new skills and knowledge that help them provide for themselves and their families.
"And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left" (isaiah 30:21)
Pray for guidance for Leonard Kiswangi in his work at the AE Congo Team Leader as they gear up for the Kinshasa mission from September 14 to 21.
Pray for church leaders and pastors in Kinshasa to work closely and collegially together to present a united witness to Christ in the city.
Kinshasa is the third largest city in Africa, with more than 14 million people. Pray that there would be tremendous openness to the Gospel among this huge population.
Pray for evangelists to be able to get to the places where they are sharing the Gospel in such a large metro area and with heavy traffic.
Pray that, as people come to faith in Jesus, they will become grounded in their faith and find nurturing local churches to be part of.
Pray that the AE Congo Board would know the right direction for the future of AE’s outreach there and lead well.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake” (Psalm 23:1-3).
Pray for safe travel for all the South African evangelists returning to their homes from the Johannesburg mission.
Pray for new believers in Johannesburg to be strengthened in their faith and to find good churches they can become part of that will help them grow in maturity and trust in Christ.
Pray for Brian Mugwidi as he leads AE Zimbabwe in its efforts to bring the Gospel to the capital city of Harare between Sept 20 and 29.
Pray for a passion for evangelism among Harare’s churches and for hundreds of missioners to participate in proclaiming the Gospel.
Pray for clean-up efforts in the city of Harare, that they would bring encouragement to its residents and provide a practical and visual picture of the work of Christ in the hearts of new believers.
Pray for Rob Langley, chair of the AE South Africa Board, that he would be guided by the Holy Spirit and have clarity of vision.
“But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him and His righteousness with their children’s children” (Psalm 103:17).
Pray for clean water to be provided to the elderly residents of Highfields township in Harare so that they don’t have to walk long distances or overly tire themselves lifting heavy containers.
Pray for AE’s Founder Michael Cassidy as he turns 88 years old today, that he would experience peace and joy, as well as healing from ailments such as shingles.
Pray for the political leadership of Zimbabwe, that they would have wisdom and a desire to rule and lead with humility and benevolence toward the citizenry.
Pray for Benson Baguma and his Team in AE Uganda in their labors to share the Gospel in the city of Soroti in northeast Uganda, from Sept 21 to 29.
Pray for the residents of Soroti to be hungry to hear Jesus’ Good News and for them to be eager to repent and believe.
Pray for the removal of spiritual barriers and strongholds that hinder the spread of the Gospel in Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Congo, as well as across the continent of Africa.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7).
Pray for all new believers in Kinshasa, Johannesburg, Soroti and Harare to grow up into mature disciples who will share the Gospel with family and friends.
