A devastating diagnosis leads to new life YOU helped rescue Jennifer from despair!

Jennifer is a community health volunteer in the Soweto Kayole slums in Nairobi, Kenya.

Five years ago, she began to feel unwell. She treated herself with over-the-counter medications until her illness increased and she sought treatment at the Soweto Kayole Clinic (a community project established in 1996 by African Enterprise and funded through your support).

After she explained how she was feeling, the doctor advised Jennifer to take an HIV test.

Jennifer’s results came back positive.

“I felt like my world had collapsed,” said Jennifer. “I only wanted one thing: to just die.”

The lifesaving support YOU make possible

Jennifer was offered counseling and encouraged to join a local African Enterprise support group for people living with HIV and AIDS.

still in denial and believed that someone had bewitched me,” she says.

The clinic staff did not give up on Jennifer but continued to follow up with her, and eventually she accepted her situation and began treatment.

“I did not want anyone, including my two children, friends, or neighbours, to know my status for fear they would stigmatise me and talk ill about me,” said Jennifer.

“But as I continued to attend the support group meetings, I gradually made progress in accepting my situation — and I began to share my story,” said Jennifer with a beaming smile on her face.

Hope and purpose for Jennifer — through your support!

Today, as an African Enterprise community health volunteer with the Soweto Kayole Clinic, Jennifer is able to share her story with other women and encourage them to seek testing and treatment if they suspect they are infected.

“It gives me so much joy to see women, once suicidal after testing HIV positive, now sharing their stories with other women,” said Jennifer.

African Enterprise’s Soweto Kayole Clinic and community health volunteers like Jennifer are a beacon of hope for vulnerable families living in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya.

Even though Jennifer continues to face many challenges, she says she is excited at how God has turned her sad story into an encouragement for other women.

Thank you for all you do to make African Enterprise’s medical clinics around Africa possible. You are saving lives today and saving souls for eternity!

HEALING, HELP, and HOPE Your gifts at work in South Sudan

Today, more than a decade after South Sudan’s brutal civil war, more than 70% of the country’s population requires urgent humanitarian assistance. Children suffer the most . . . so many are orphaned, traumatised and hopeless.

Your support made it possible to bring life-transforming healing to thousands of students in 30 schools across the capital city of Juba.

A hardened heart opens to Jesus

How YOU helped Alima experience healing and forgiveness

As a young girl, Alima experienced the horrific trauma of seeing a man murder her mother and sister. After this, she thought of nothing but killing this man. Thankfully, your support enabled Alima to participate in African Enterprise’s trauma healing program. She experienced miraculous forgiveness and gave her life to Christ. Today, she dreams of becoming a doctor.

Caring for the least of these Orphans and vulnerable children are blessed by your care

Your support makes it possible to demonstrate the love of Christ to orphans and vulnerable children throughout South Sudan.

Through Community Transformation Groups, families are equipped to provide for themselves economically and reach out with needed resources to struggling children in their communities. Because of your support, we are partnering to come alongside “the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him” (Job 29:12).

Giving hope to a lost generation Young people embrace new life in Christ — thanks to YOU!

South Sudan’s youth have little hope for the future. War and civil unrest, the loss of one or both parents, poverty, lack of education, HIV, and more have filled so many with bitterness. From substance abuse to sexual promiscuity to gang involvement, they are making decisions today that will change their whole future.

The outreach you make possible is reaching Africa’s youth with godly role models, helping them discover the plan God has for their life.

The remarkable difference YOU make!

As I travel, it’s always sobering to witness first hand the heart-wrenching suffering and gnawing needs of the people in Africa.

Yet, at the same time, I come away astonished at the remarkable difference our Teams make in the lives of many thousands, thanks to your support.

One of our most transformative ministries is Community Transformation Groups, or CTGs. Mostly women, but some men, meet weekly in groups of 15-20 where they pray and read Scripture together. They also put a small amount of money into a common account, which grows over time, enabling them to make loans to one another to start and grow their businesses.

We first launched CTGs in Rwanda about 20 years ago. Today there are some 40,000 of them!

Because of your prayers and generosity, more than 600,000 people are experiencing life transformation each week!

With your continued support, we are rolling out CTGs in all 12 of the countries where we work.

What an inspiration! Thank you for all you make possible!
