Stavriana is the founder and Chief designer at HappyANTS Interior Architecture & Design. She has completed her studies in Interior Architecture and after working in Germany and Ireland, she returned to her home town Limassol, where she now lives and works. For 15 years she has worked as a lecturer at a private university and a college in Cyprus as well as the Head of the Interior Design department. Stavriana is very passionate about her work; she actually states that it is like doing her favorite hobby all the time! She has designed many private and public spaces both in Cyprus and abroad and her work has been featured in international and Cypriot design magazines.

Unifying the opposites

Each summer Cyprus is exalting in host of “White parties” even though stylists across the world recommend we wear white, including total white looks, all year round, irrespective of the weather or other natural conditions. And we could not agree with them more!

Every basic colour, white, black or grey is good because it allows you to be free and eclectic, combining what seems like conflicting items in a single look, due to the harmony of colours. This drove us to go overboard on looks, influenced by T by Alexander Wang, combining athleisure and pompous clothes, baggy silhouettes with cinched waists, see-through plastic and knitted wool.

You can see reasonable see-through lace, major accessories, suede shoes instead of the more logical summer sandals. We have changed the style somewhat, making it a little less feminine and more casual, replacing the summer dress with a shirt dress, using flat shoes for footwear and for accessories — large flowers.

As the top of the style is rather conservative, it does not look too provocative. This is more a complex version of a summer dress, consisting of two layers: shirt and dress.

Inspired – like the rest of the collection – by the first wristwatch created by A.-L. Breguet for Caroline Murat in 1810, the new Reine de Naples Princesse 8965 is the epitome of femininity and boldness. The gentle, subtly cambered design of its rose gold oval case makes a pleasing contrast with the clean-cut, resolutely graphic lines of its engine-turned dial. Breguet wished to play with shapes and materials in order to attract the eye and draw it into the fascinating dimensions of time. The extremely pure white mother-of-pearl dial follows the curve of the case, thereby creating an unusual depth effect highlighting the two large, equally rounded rose gold hour-markers appearing at 6 and 12 o’clock. The Reine de Naples Princesse 8965 is fitted with a sapphire crystal caseback providing the opportunity to admire its mechanical self-winding movement, Calibre 591C. Crafted in keeping with the finest watchmaking traditions, its oscillating weight is in solid gold, hand-engraved on a rose engine.

ear reader, today we talk about teenager appropriate makeup. Very often young people overdo makeup, looking unnatural, vulgar and sometimes, funny.

Teenager’s makeup should be light. You should not overload the face with additional bright colours. Let’s stick to beautiful and simple, quick makeup. Good application techniques and little tips can help create an attractive look from the very first attempt. Your foundation should match your skin exactly. A properly matched tone is literally half of all the work. If the teen has a problem skin, it is good to use a thick correcting pencil. You can layer it under foundation. Each teenager, and many adults, are unhappy about the contour of their face, as it is often still childish and plump. This does not appear to be appealing to many, yet can be helped with a corrector. The parts of the face that appear too plump can be shaded in, but take care not to overdo it. Then you apply mascara, limiting it to top lashes and without layering too much, so as to avoid making the eyes look “heavy”. Using natural beige or pink blush, applied to the cheeks, we get the effect of illuminated skin, bright and healthy. The final touch is for the lips. No need to line them with pencil, as we can stop at a clear lipgloss. You can choose whatever shade you want. Such makeup will not create complaints from the parents, teachers and school administration. At the same time, it will highlight the beauty and charm in real life and on the photos, giving the face a charming and attractive look.

The reason we get cellulite is not only due to poor eating, but can be attributed to eating “too well”, various diets, which we use to reach our goal weight. The issue is that sharp fluctuations in weight and dramatic changes to your nutrition can cause more harm to our beauty than overeating could. Tissue loses elasticity, skin becomes loose and cellulite flourishes. There is no need to create magic potions against cellulite, as clean eating principles have been around for long enough to be known.

Mykonos — island of luxury and glamour

Modern Mykonos is the Greek answer to Ibiza. During the day, European young crowds are entertained at beach bars, moving to clubs, where music does not stop playing until the morning, at nights. The rocky landscape, windmills, snowwhite villages on the coast of the deep blue sea — Mykonos is very similar to Santorini in many ways, yet it is not currently marketed in the same way. July and August are exceptionally busy with Italian tourists, yet the rest of the year the island is quite comfortable. Movie types have not failed to notice Mykonos, as the cozy cafe from the final scene of “Bourne Identity”, is actually none other than 'Sea Satin Restaurant', which is located in Little Venice. Paradise Beach — because in Mykonos those are actual names for beaches — Paradise Beach и Super Paradise Beach.

Paros

The island became very wealthy due to the mining of the snow-white Paros marble, which is the best in Greece, during antiquity. The marble was widely popular among sculptors, which was the reason why the statues of Nike of Samothrace and Venus of Milos have both been carved out of it. Парос

Rhodes

Rodos was home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the giant statue of Helios, known better as the Colossus of Rhodes back in B.C. Later on, pirates held Gaius Julius Caesar in captivity on an island just off the coast of Rhodes. They did manage to get a ransom for the future emperor, yet did not even have the chance to enjoy the quick money. One of the best beaches of Turkey is stone’s throw away, which is the Oludeniz lagoon, next to Fethiye. In the summer, you can get a visa in the port upon arrival, which lasts 15 days, if you come via a ferry from Turkey, which allows for visa-free travel for Russians. Rhodes has a rich and great history, so the island has some great sightseeing: from medieval old Rhodes, which is part of the UNESCO protected World Heritage program, to the beautiful Valley of the Butterflies, which is no valley at all. Instead, it is a cool ravine that sees a migration of tens, of not hundreds, of thousands of butterflies in July and August. The beach in the secluded bay of Saint Paul in Lindos is very popular among newlyweds. Many come here for their honeymoon and some get married right here, in the tiny, white-washed church on a hill.

Skiathos

Skiathos became widely popular in 2008, after the release of the movie “Mamma Mia!”, featuring Meryl Streel and Pierce Brosnan, which were filming the movie on the beaches of the nearby island of Skopelos. Ever since

There is only one hotel here, as well as several villas you can rent out, so the beach is never crowded, even if you visit during peak season.

Milos

According to legends, Milos was formed in the Aegean sea by the will of Poseidon, just as other Cyclades islands. They say that the rather amorous god once got so angry at all his nymphs that he turned them into islands. This legend explains a little why the most beautiful islands in Greece are located in the Cyclades archipelago. You can find out the meaning of the phrase “living on top of a volcano”, when you visit Milos. One of the 8 volcanoes in Greece is located in Milos and the island itself looks like a semi-submerged crator, if seen from outer space. The volcano is dormant, so you have nothing to worry about and you can enjoy the beautiful views and beaches, framed by snowy white rocks. The sheer variety of shades of emerald and azure, the rose gold pebbles and the half-moon of the soaring orange-red cliffs make Paliochori one of the most memorable beaches in all of Greece.

This island in the Ionic sea is named after Kefala, which was one of the rare heroes of the Greek mythology, who did not kidnap women but was actually kidnapped by the Goddess of Dawn, Eos, for romantic purposes. The legendary history of Greece’s largest island is unbelievably rich. Zeus was born here, Thiseas fought the Minotaur in the labyrinth here, Daedalus and Icarus soared into the sky from Crete. Crete can easily be considered a separate country.

CHOIROKOITIA Choirokoitia that lies between Limassol and Larnaca (6 kilometres inland from the southern coast), is one of the few geographic spots that sparks the interest of visitors that come to Cyprus. The historical roots of this artefact that is thousands of years old take us back to the long gone past, to Neolithic age (VII-IV thousand B.C.) and continue to today.

ny person that got a chance to visit Cyprus even once, has probably wondered how life started on this tiny Mediterranean island. We can explain, as the answer to the question is available to anybody that wants to visit the tiny “town” that is actually a UNESCO-protected World Heritage title holder. It is not for nothing that this place is a real gem, when it comes to cultural excavations, alluring not only for the archeologists from across the world but also the curious visitors that wish to confirm with their own eyes, where civilisation started from. So why is this artefact so important? Choirokoitia is a direct link to, biggest clue for the resolution of the mystery that hides who our ancestors were and what was going on on this planet roughly 7 thousand years ago. Just imagine visiting and touching the construction that was previously touched by one, or many, of the founders of this object in the distant Ceramic period. How did you feel? When it comes to the population, archeologists think that the maximum number of people, living on the territory of the compact buildings that lay around the town walls (2,5 m thick and 3 m tall), could not exceed 600 persons. They would have engaged in agriculture and livestock breeding, which is confirmed by the remains of said livestock (goats, sheep, pigs and even deer). The average lifespan, according to fossil analysis of tissues and bones, was about 27 years, whereas the height of an average person was rather miniature. Men did not go over 1,6 m and women were below 1,5 m. The architecture itself is that of a round construction made of earth, clay, sand and water, topped with flat roofs, with the interior diameter of 1,4 m to 4,8 m, as well as the exterior diameter of 2,3 m to 9,2 m. The inhabitants of these modest houses had fireplaces, benches and sometimes windows. Those that could afford the more spacious homes, would put up columns to prop up the roof, in the middle of the building. This unusual ancient town was an impressive architectural complex, far removed from the outside world and with a stone-paved staircase that leads from the bottom of the hill until the very top. Therefore, in order to reach the centre of Choirokoitia, the enchanted visitors would have to go up to 200 metres high.

ne of the most important finds in this town was the Idol of Pomos, which is a sculpture of a lady, that has spread her arms wide open. This idol became the key symbol that was placed on the Euro coins (1 and 2 Euros, to be precise), ever since Cyprus has ascended into the EU in 2008 and entered the Eurozone. Another mystery…why did these ancient Cypriots decide to settle 6 km from the seafront, which did not grant any strategic advantages to their everyday labours? As the results of the geographical analysis reveal, there is a huge possibility that 9000 years ago, Choirokoitia was located on the beach, actually. This is based on the facts that deal with the formation of the island of Cyprus. As it turns out, the major clash between twi continents, Africa and Eurasia, caused the creation of our little island, and the clash itself is still happening with no end of it in sight. Every year, this heart of the Mediterranean rises above sea level a few millimetres, as the result of some 100 or so yearly earthquakes. And we only can try to guess how far Cyprus has risen from the sea depths from the moment of its’ creation… In conclusion, it is worth noting that the island of Cyprus has a certain charisma, which is deep within the hearts of all that visit it. Немаловажно учесть то, что после смерти самих обитателей (владельцев) этих скромных круглых домиков (в основном, там располагались семьи от 3-6 человек), они были массово захоронены прямо под полом своих же домов! Тем самым считалось, что, когда умирает член семьи, его/ее душа остается среди скорбящих родственников, которые не решались расстаться с телом близкого им человека. Также, в большинстве подобных случаев, вместе с ушедшим хоронили материальные блага: пищу, керамические изделия и т.д, что символизировало некое почитание мертвых. Что касается самого населения, то археологи считают, что максимальное количество человек, которое единовременно проживало на территории тесных построек вокруг городских стен (2,5 м в толщину и 3 м в высоту), никак не могло превышать 600 человек. Занимались они сельскохозяйственным производством и скотоводством, что подтверждается находками останков сельскохозяйственного скота (овец, коз, свиней и даже оленей). Natalia has come to Cyprus straight from Côte d’Azur. Speaking of which, Natalia will be representing Monaco in this year’s Mrs Universe competition.

We are so happy to see you in Cyprus, Natalia. Is this your first visit to the island or have you been here before? No, this is one of my favourite spots and I visit very often, for business or for vacation. I have lots of friends here.

Do you remember your first visit to the island? What was memorable about it?

I remember it was not the best time of my life and I came here to relax, or to be more precise, to be in a comfortable atmosphere among friends. I recall that the island inspired me, relaxed me and left the best of memories, of course.

Do you remember your first ever beauty contest? Absolutely. My first contest, which had to do with a specific and great sport, was one of the most memorable moments for me. My eldest son plays hockey and is seriously into the sport. Everything started with the Hockey Mom competition in St. Petersburg in 2016. I decided to try and enter, as a contestant, even though I was new in the city. I had no real drive to win but I’ve won nevertheless.

What contests followed?

“Mrs. Saint-Petersburg”, “Mrs. Russia”, “Mrs. Monaco” and “Mrs. Universe”. Right now I am preparing for“Mrs. Universe”. Obviously, after my first win I wanted to go to

We are talking about contests of the “Mrs" variety right now. What are the criteria and how are the contestants selected?

A lady that wishes to take part in a “Mrs.”-type competition must be married and have a family. Not all women want to participate in such contests. If a woman decided to enter, she must present her resume, portfolio and story of her life, which should be interesting. If she has something to say and wants to develop her business, wishes to be more interesting for everyone around, including herself, she has an excellent chance at self-development. There must be a representative. The lady will go through the basic contest first, then moves on to the next level. Everything depends on the wishes of the lady.

What is the atmosphere at these competitions usually?

Difficult, to be honest. It looks easy from the outside, when girls go out in beautiful dresses, looking great and smiling. The competition is a tough and daunting psychological experience. Any contest is a competition, race and battle. It is difficult to be in that fighting frame of mind for days on end. Not every woman wants to go through this. If you go through — you win. If you do not pass — you are still amazing, because you took part. Not every person wants to feel this way.

If a lady wants to take part in a beauty contest, what must she do and how does she start? If a lady wants to participate in such competitions, she deserves respect. It is truly a difficult and major decision to make. It is not as easy, as it seems. She will need to prepare extensively before taking the stage for the competition.

Не каждая женщина захочет принимать участие в таких конкурсах. Если она, разумеется, заявляет о своем желании участвовать, она должна предоставить свое резюме, свое портфолио и свою интересную историю жизни. Если ей есть о чем рассказать, и она хочет развивать свой бизнес, хочет быть более интересной для себя самой, то это и есть прекрасная возможность и способ саморазвития. Должен быть представитель. The girl goes through a whole series of various contests (cooking etc.), where she collects points, in order to be able to show off this skill in the final (costume preparation, artistic performances, etc.). At the “Mrs.Universe” pageant, we are working on national costumes, so that the lady can represent her country, culture and heritage. This is not easy. You engage artists to create large-scale productions. Engineers are assembling all the head pieces, outfits and everything the contestant takes with her on stage. Of course the dresses should be evening attire, which requires extra creativity and ideas. Large scale competitions attract many. Various companies offer sponsorships and collaborations. Many brands are offering you to use their outfits.

What kind of atmosphere reigns at beauty pageants? They say the contestants are known to put needles in each others’ shoe, ruin each other’s dresses, etc. Have you had this experiences? No, thankfully, I have not. These things may happen. However, women taking part in these competitions are usually those that have a deeper understanding of life, which means no criminal activities take place at the competition.

All women are competitors at the contest, which makes even talking about friendship difficult. However, such friendship is possible. I have met girls at the contests, which I still keep in touch with. This is a good check for people, as it is a known fact that beauty pageants are true tests to female friendship. Sadly, more often than not such friendship does not work out.

They say that winners at all such competitions are known from before and wins are paid for. How true is this? I can personally confirm this to be untrue.

They also say, it is best to be born happy, rather than beautiful. Do you think beauty helps a girl build a career or achieve a happy personal life? Being a beautiful woman, inside and out, is a massive advantage, without a doubt. Appearance affects the inner feelings` condition and the light that goes out from inside. A woman that can channel her force, her beauty and her energy toward greater deeds is a woman that is successful in life, of course. Nowadays, women embrace the kind of beauty that somewhat affects people’s impression of them. However, true beauty and true positive energy is always channeled in the right direction.

You are not merely the holder of such titles as Vice Mrs. Russia World 2016, Mrs. Monaco Universe 2017, Fashion Mama 2017 but are also a mom to the two wonderful sons. What does family mean to you? Family is my everything, my life, my world.

What kind of mom are you? Are you strict or not really? What principles do you maintain, when raising your sons?

I am a strict mom, as I believe that a man is the future of his family. He is the man that the family will rely on and the one that holds everything together. Raising a good man is

В региональных конкурсах девушка приходит в общество, где все вокруг друг друга знают, а это и позволяет ей посещать мероприятия по определенному расписанию вместе с другими участницами. Что же касается международных конкурсов, то каждая готовится в своей стране и только потом приезжает на конкурс, заселяется в отель и потихоньку начинается борьба. 6 дней она живет в отеле и 24\7 она работает. Нет времени расслабляться, и девушка постоянно активна. В 6 утра — подьем, зарядка, завтрак, съемки и т.д. И так до самого гала-ужина, до самого финала. Сама подготовка требует много времени, так как это очень важно ,чтобы суметь показать себя в финале.

not easy. There are many temptations (the internet, etc.), yet my kids are fully into sports, studies and traveling. I give them the freedom of choice. I support them in everything and help them make their own choices and take their own decisions.

hen I was young, nobody helped me with my choices. There was advice from parents but anything to do with work, personal life and everything that was in my life, was a matter of my own choice. I think that a child has the right to make his or her own choice. As a mom, I feel responsible for my child and want to give them the chance to develop further, to flourish but I would never tell them what to do.

How does your family feel about you entering beauty competitions? Do they support you? They are always happy for me and they help, give advice. I always want them to be part of it, as beauty contests are not part of something totally detached in my life. I enter the pageants for the sake of my family, too. I always try to create scenarios, where I stand on stage and my team and family are right behind me. My team includes professionals that do everything for me, as well as my family.

Нет, к счастью, я не сталкивалась. Но тут имеет место быть всему. Несмотря на это, на таких конкурсах участвуют женщины уже с более глубоким пониманием жизни, поэтому и криминальности на конкурсах не наблюдается. Very often I forget about food, to be honest. I could be running around all day long and I would not remember until later that I had not eaten. Nowadays, I just know that if I did not eat immediately, I can do that later. I bake really well, which is also a test of my self-control. And by the way, I love cheese (especially hard cheese). In any case, you should not refuse anything to yourself. You must eat what you want but avoid overeating. This is the key rule for me.

What do you like in terms of beauty treatments? What beauty products do you use for skin and hair?

I am asked this very often. Honestly, I do not think about beauty trends that emerge on the market, as there are professionals that do just that.

Natalia, you are a very attractive and charming person, you travel a lot. What does happiness mean to you?

Everyone has their own understanding of happiness. I am sure that everyone needs something deeply personal to be happy. For me, happiness is in simple things. For me happiness means living under a peaceful sky. I can’t even begin to imagine what people went through during WWII. For me happiness is waking up in a good mood, when it is sunny outside (especially when you live in Côte d’Azur). When you live in Cyprus, stress goes away. When you wake up and see that the sun is shining and your kids and your man are next to you. Happiness is the chance to see how your kids grow up, the chance to rejoice in their successes. Happiness is also being able to spend time with your family. Happiness is having good friends and I am able to help them, directing them in the right direction in life, leading by example. Changing someone’s life for the better and seeing positive results is happiness. For me, the biggest happiness is actually being able to help someone.

I have to do my best, invest into this competition. I psyched myself up for this competition. I was not afraid and I kept telling myself that I need to do it, despite it being a huge responsibility. What will happen after? I do not like making concrete plans, as they make you dependant and you start changing your life to fit them. Real happiness is living in the moment and taking the most from life. My biggest plan is to be happy. Basically, my aim is to be active, unafraid and move forward.

Я сделала это не из-за моды, а по желанию моего организма, моего состояния, ведь мне просто уже просто не хочется кушать мясо. К тому же я живу в отличных местах, где имеется масса свежих морепродуктов, рыбы и поэтому покупать мясо у меня просто не поднимается рука.

This is an interview with photographer Kirill Kirin, who came to Cyprus to take the best pictures for himself and for his heroes. Sergey Babin, Kirill’s friend and one of his models interviewed him. Probably, it came from my childhood. I was brought up in the artists’ family. From little up I watched my mother’s thought process of creating and bringing it to reality. I guess I took up from my mother this attitude towards creative process as to something being the most important in our life. My teacher in documentary photography Evgeny Uvarov, a well-known reportage photographer, was always caviling at me like no one else. Almost like in the movie Whiplash.

It was not in vain, was it? Was it worth of it? Yes. Later he said: «Guy, I quibbled about you only because I knew what you were actually capable of.» Not so long ago he wrote that he turned out to be right and his artistic feeling had not let him down. Damn, it’s a very nice thing to know!

What did you take up after your courses?

I dedicated myself to reportage shooting. I had been taking pictures of the rescuers for a long time. Putting it more precisely, I lived with the rescuers and documented each step of them: how they worked, how they saved lives, how they had a rest.

Then you started taking up commercial photography. Therefore I wonder if there is something common between these genres.

During reportage filming, you have no time to think: there is a moment, and all you need is to pick it up. This is a skill, through which I always know in any situation, anywhere, what and how to shoot. Instinctively. There is a story, and it needs to be caught in a split second.

And what about emotions?

I can not say that they are sometimes stronger or weaker. They are just different. They arouse different reflections. The main thing is not even about emotions, the main thing is taking pleasure in the process itself.

It’s clear that during reportage shooting the emotions can be “on the verge of ” (frustration or explosion). Anything can happen in the frame. What emotions are still there in commercial photography? In this case everything depends not only on me, but on the client as well. This is a creation, from which both of us should gain pleasure. This is not necessarily be a frenzy creation, no. This can be quite a professional and serious shooting, so to say. It’s cool when a person, just like you, is in the mood to achieve the result, and you trust each other.

How is it possible to achieve this kind of trust? I might disappoint you, but it’s through an ordinary conversation. I just talk to a person. If possible, we meet before shooting for a cup of coffee. Through this way you get to know the person better, who, how and what he is.You get to know what makes him feel comfortable and what attempt we can make. В репортажке у тебя нет времени думать: есть момент, и его нужно поймать. Это навык, благодаря которому я в любой ситуации, в любом месте всегда знаю, что и как нужно снять. Инстинктивно. Есть история, и ее нужно поймать за долю секунды.

А эмоции?

Я не могу сказать, что они где-то сильнее, где слабее. Они разные. Они вызывают разную рефлексию. Главное даже не эмоции, главное - удовольствие от процесса. В репортажной съемке, понятно, могут быть эмоции «на грани». В кадре может происходить что угодно. Какие эмоции все же есть в коммерческой съемке? Тут все зависит не только от меня, но и от клиента. Это творческий процесс, от которого оба должны получать удовольствие. И не обязательно это должен быть творческий угар, нет. Это и вполне профессиональные, серьезные, что ли, съемки. Круто, когда человек, как и ты, настроен на результат, и вы доверяете друг другу

Как достичь такого доверия?

Может, я тебе разочарую, но это - обыкновенный разговор. Я просто разговариваю с человеком. Если есть возможность, то мы встречаемся перед съемкой и пьем кофе. Так узнаешь человека, кто он, как у него дела, чем он занимается. Узнаешь, что для него комфортно, что можно попробовать. И самое главное, человек узнает

What is the difference between working with a professional model and a person for whom this is the first or second professional photo shoot?

What kind of stories?

When you have ordered, then I will tell you! (laughs).

What do you think about when you see a person through the lens? Come on, produce a stream of consciousness, just like Joyce. I can probably make it like Joyce, but in general I feel like a sculptor. I see a person and I understand that if he turns his head like this, the source of light will be on this side, and I will turn this person ...

Into a work of art? Masterpiece?

It is you who said this, not me! (laughs).

It is logical to ask, did you feel the difference between working in Russia and Cyprus?

There are many beautiful locations in Cyprus. In one hour and you can shoot in the mountains. Twenty minutes later, and you shoot in the fields. City? It’s near. This is freedom that allows making a great number of ideas a reality. This allows you to take amazingly various shots.

Motion-picture shots?

This is one of the aspects at which I am working at the moment. Cinematic means when the photo looks like a frame from a movie, the movie that does not exist. But you look at this frame and feel the atmosphere and the story. You ask questions; what kind of a hero is he? How did he find himself here? Why does he have exactly these emotions? You create a frame that evokes empathy. You are trying to imagine what kind of film this frame could be taken from: drama, fantasy, noir ...

What kind of movies do you imagine?

It seems to me that everyone has his own movie. That’s the feature of such pictures. For me it’s on the sensational level... I do not know. I do not want to disclose the history of these pictures; this can limit viewer’s imagination. Let everyone imagine or feel his own story.

What cameramen do you like most of all?

Emmanuel Lubetský is the DOP (director of photography) of the «The Revenant». And A. Tarkovsky. And «The Road» by Fellini - it’s just stunning!

близко, какая атмосфера тебе нравится. Узнал бы, какие фильмы ты любишь. Это позволяет узнать твой диапазон, как эстетический, так комфортный. Что - да, что - нет, а что - давай попробуем. Ну… и я бы рассказал тебе пару профессиональных историй.

Что за истории?

Вот когда закажешь, тогда и расскажу (смеется).

О чем думаешь, когда видишь в объективе человека? Давай, выдай, как Джойс, поток сознания. Как Джойс, наверно, смогу, но вообще я ощущаю себя скульптором. Я вижу человека и понимаю, что если он повернет голову вот так, источник света будет вот с этой стороны, и я превращу этого человека…

В произведение искусства? Шедевр? Это ты сказал, не я (смеется).

Логично спросить, почувствовал ли ты разницу между работой в России и на Кипре? На Кипре много красивых локаций. Час - и ты снимаешь в горах. Двадцать минут, и вы снимаете в полях. Город? Он рядом. Это свобода, позволяющая воплотить огромное количество идей. Это позволяет тебе делать удивительно разные кинематографичные кадры.

Кинематографичные?

Одно из направлений, в котором я работаю в данный момент. Cinematic - это когда фотография выглядит как кадр из фильма. Из фильма, который не существует. Но ты смотришь на этот кадр и чувствуешь атмосферу, историю. Ты задаешь вопросы, что это за герой? Как он здесь оказался? Почему у него именно такие эмоции? Ты создаешь кадр, вызывающий сопереживание. Ты пытаешься представить, из какого фильма мог быть взят этот кадр: драма, фантастика, нуар…

Какие фильмы ты себе представляешь?

Мне кажется, у каждого свой фильм. В этом и особенность таких снимков. Для меня это на уровне ощущений… Не знаю. Я не хочу раскрывать истории этих снимков, это ограничивает фантазию зрителя. Пусть каждый сам придумает или почувствует историю.

When only the body is shown, not a person. After all, man means energy, history, his cockroaches in his head are thousands of complicated mechanisms. And people just take a mere picture of the body. That often refers to nudity ... The most difficult thing is to find the sense in it.

By the way, many photographers take pictures of women. Is it interesting to shoot men? You see the matter is not that who is in the frame; a man or a woman. Photography is a way of telling yourself that you are beautiful, that you actually achieved a lot. Bombastic though it may sound, but personal photography is like a monument to yourself. After all, one day, many years later you will look at the picture taken long time ago and say: «You know, everything was not in vain. I’ve lived an interesting life.

Когда показывают лишь тело, а не человека. Ведь человек - это энергетика, это история, его тараканы в голове - это тысячи сложных механизмов. А люди берут и просто снимают тело. Этим часто грешит обнаженка… В обнажении самое сложное - найти смысл.

К слову, многие фотографы снимают женщин. Интересно ли снимать мужчин? Пойми, дело не в том, мужчина в кадре или женщина. Фотография - это способ сказать самому себе, что ты прекрасен. Что ты на самом деле многого добился. Может, это высокопарно прозвучит, но собственная фотография - это памятник самому себе. Ведь однажды, через много лет ты посмотришь на сделанную когда-то давно фотографию и скажешь: «Знаешь, все было не зря. Я прожил

Как ты думаешь, может ли кадр изменить жизнь человека?

What do you think, what is awaiting for you in future? Are there many ideas in your head? What about your notebook? They can not be counted. These are ideas for which I have not found suitable models yet. Although, the models are probably not quite the right word. I have plans, and I seek the right people for them. I’m always looking for a person who would best express this or that idea. And as for the plans ... Cinematography. Movie. Short feature films. I want my photos once to be turned into real movies.

Конечно! Мне часто говорят, что кадры меняли их жизнь. Для многих это был способ вновь обрести уверенность в себе. Такое чувство, что они как раз переносят ее из кадра в свою жизнь.

Как думаешь, что ждет тебя в будущем? Много идей в твоей голове? Твоем блокноте? Их не сосчитать. Это идеи, к которым я пока не нашел подходящий моделей. Хотя, моделей, наверно, не совсем правильно слово. У меня есть замыслы, и я ищу к ним нужных людей. Я всегда ищу человека, который лучшим образом выразил бы ту или иную идею. DARIIA GANAGA TENDERNESS AND BEAUTY

ssociation of Mediterranean Artists («AMA») is one of the youngest associations of creative people in Cyprus, but, perhaps, the most actively developing. It happens so due to the enthusiasm of its founders and constant influx of new members, each of whom brings new ideas and creative impulses, Association organizes and conducts various events on a regular basis, ranging from personal and group exhibitions to charity auctions and thematic evenings. It will not be an exaggeration to note that during mere two years of its existence AMA not only gained considerable success in establishing itself as an active participant in the cultural and social life of Cyprus, but also in many ways changed its rhythm and direction. An open and democratic structure of the union allows in practice to eliminate linguistic and national differences between people from different countries, different cultures and ages, since it does not matter which language the artist is used to speaking when he is able to convey his vision of the world using the universally accessible language of art. Neither the creative competition nor the desire to expand their ambitions drives the members of the Association, instead they are linked by an atmosphere of friendliness and mutual assistance. The union is always happy to provide all-round support to both beginners and artists who have already established themselves. The organization successfully helps and creates the most favorable conditions for each of its members so that the artist could assert himself to the broadening audience and to demonstrate his strong sides ever more beneficially. Continuing the series of events that have been organised for several consecutive years, one of the most recent and notable events that took place with the direct participation of the Association and Black Diamond Productions Ltd was the personal exhibition of one of the union’s recent newcomers but already an accomplished artist Dariia Ganaga (www.dariiaganaga.com).

n Friday, May 19, 2017, the cultural center «Aphrodite – Amathusia» in Limassol once again opened its doors to fellow artists, connoisseurs of art, friends and numerous guests. More than two hundred people from different countries, such as the USA, England, Switzerland, Russia, France, Italy, and even Colombia and India, preferred to spend the evening in a warm company of each other and, of course, paintings. The series of works «Tenderness & Beauty» presented at the exhibition is drawn in a unique author’s technique «without a brush», each of the works is painted by Dariia’s bare hands. The guests appreciated not only the courage, innovation and originality of the artist. The genuine elegant sensuality and confident ability of Dariia to convey her vision of the world to the spectator, exasperating the whole gamut of emotions and sensations, left not a single person indifferent. When working with a canvas, the artist pays great attention to textures and colors, this gives the

Men and women are different. Nobody is better than the other, however, they are different. The current society’s beliefs that men and women are one and the same, equally talented and able to both practice any profession is formed precisely at the moment that science has come up with ample proof that we are actually radically different to one another. The only common factor is that we are the same species. We look the same but our worlds are different. Men and women live on different planes, have different priorities and value, follow different rules in life. We are like different countries to one another, with unique languages, cultures, history and style of living. When we visit other countries, we learn their culture, which is always exciting and educational. Let us treat the opposite sex in the same way and study it, as we would another country. This can be truly exciting. Last time we spoke about differences in upbringing. Let us talk about ways to communicate with the opposite sex.

Итак, совпали ваши совместные ожидания по отношению к быту, деньгам и сексу. Прекрасно! Но на этом проблемы не заканчиваются. Взаимоотношения – это совместный труд по поиску взаимопонимания. Давайте превратим этот труд в увлекательное исследование. Мужчины и женщины отличаются друг от друга. Никто не хуже и не лучше, просто – разные. Убеждение современного общества о том, что мужчины и женщины одинаковы, что они в равной степени талантливы и могут овладеть любой профессией, сложилось как раз к тому моменту, когда наука собрала достаточно доказательств о том, что мы резко отличаемся друг от друга. Единственное, что у нас есть общего, - мы одного вида. Вид один, миры – разные. Мужчины и женщины живут в разных мирах, у нас разные приоритеты, разные ценности, разные жизненные правила. Мы друг для друга, как новая неизвестная страна со своим языком, культурой, историей, бытовым укладом. Посещая другие страны, мы изучаем их культуру, и это всегда интересно и познавательно. Давайте так же отнесёмся к противоположному полу, изучим его, как другую страну. Это тоже очень увлекательно. В прошлый раз мы поговорили о разности в восприятии. Поговорим о том, как правильно общаться с противоположным полом. Первое правило разговора с мужчиной – простота изложения. Женщинам важно понять: чтобы убедить мужчину в чем-либо, надо за один раз высказывать только одну чёткую мысль, иначе он потеряет нить разговора.

Go away, ask her what she thinks instead and why she thinks so, agreeing in the end. The fourth rule is to be selective on the timing of discussions. Woman can be spoken to at absolutely any time! And in contrast, if you try to define and allocate the time for conversation, a woman will consider this a threat to your relationship and will not listed, but rather will get defensive and aggressive. All these rules are due to the differences in characteristics of the thought processes of men and women. Men can sort information in their minds and store it for a while. Women are always returning to the information received. Women like talking, men do not. Men think a telephone is a means of communication, whereas for women it merely connects people. Men can quietly think to themselves. Women think out loud. They can tell you about anything at all with no structure, laying out every possibility and combination of events. Men can either talk or listen. Women can talk and listen simultaneously, accusing men of their inability to do both, at the same time. We are very different but we can’t survive without each other.

Они могут рассказать обо всех делах в случайном порядке и перечислить все возможности и варианты. Мужчины могут только говорить или только слушать. KARMA

ou can hear the words “That's my karma!” fairly often. And it sounds like an excuse for your own actions, more often than not, a justification of own failures, laziness, reluctance to change anything in life. Some talk about it with humour, some are quite saddened by it but never ask the question: “is it possible to change anything?” It is even worse, when people are tempted with the hype of false promises from various "magicians and wizard” that promise to cleanse your karma. It sounds sad and funny all at the same time. Karma is the sum of our actions and their consequences, which determines your next reincarnation, or future development (future existence). This sum is what defined, time, family, social circle of your current transformation. This was done by following the point of view of optimal correction of the negative capacity and maximising the use of positive energy. Nobody can change, correct, improve or destroy anything in our lives, except ourselves. Karma studies do not dictate that life is absolutely predetermined. Freedom of choice is always there. Karma created the background to a person’s life, attracts certain events into the life. The degree to which you depend on karma is strictly personal and can change with the course of time, depending on your choices (actions). In addition, karma can affect some parts of your life more than others. There are people, for whom karma is always front and centre, increasing the role of fate. It is easy for them to predict their future, as it almost unchangeable. For others, karma plays a secondary role and they have lots of options for the future, which depends on their personal choices. Karma is the result of the initial offence (i.e. wrong choice) by a person and it assumes that each person can actively affect their karma (but only their own). This can be done by an active involvement, swift reactions and even an ability to avoid paying the karmic debts for a while. Karma assumes a gradual removal of own minds out of the social circle and a simultaneous entry of the mind into a common flow. Karma is the way of the man. Choice between evil and good is what forms your karma and allows you to reduce or increase the influence it holds. Karma is not unique to man, as every developing organism has it, if they have the freedom of choice. Therefore, we all contain karma for the people, states, studies and religions, karma for the bloodline. When you are born into a certain family, nationality, country, we accept this karma of the masses, in addition to our own, as it stands at the moment of our birth.

овольно часто можно услышать: «У меня Карма такая!». И звучит это как оправдание собственным поступкам, как оправдание своим неудачам, лени, нежеланию что-либо менять в своей жизни. Кто-то говорит об этом весело, кто-то с грустью, но редко задают вопрос: «Можно ли что-то изменить?». Ещё хуже, когда люди покупаются на лживые посулы различного рода «магов и волшебников» - чищу (исправляю) карму. Смешно и грустно одновременно. Карма - это общая сумма совершённых поступков и их последствий, которая определяет характер нового воплощения, то есть дальнейшего развития (дальнейшего существования). Именно эта сумма определила место, время, семью, общественную среду данного воплощения каждого из нас, причём определила всё это с точки зрения наилучшей возможности исправления негативно накопленной составляющей и наилучшего использования положительно - накопленной. И никто другой не сможет что-то изменить, исправить, улучшить или ухудшить в нашей жизни, только мы сами. Абсолютной предопределённости жизни учение о карме не предусматривает. Свобода выбора есть всегда. Карма создаёт фон жизни человека, притягивает к нему те или иные события. Степень зависимости от кармы сугубо индивидуальна и может существенно изменяться с течением времени, в зависимости от совершаемых выборов (поступков). При этом она (карма) может влиять сильнее в одной из областей жизни и слабее - в другой. Есть люди, у которых карма выступает на первый план, резко повышая роль фатума. Им очень легко предсказывать судьбу, будущее для них практически безальтернативно. У других - роль кармы второстепенна, у них много вариантов будущего, оно зависит от их собственного выбора. Карма возникла вследствие изначального осквернения (неправильного выбора) человека и подразумевает возможность каждого активно влиять на свою карму (НА СВОЮ!), через активное включение ускоренно её отрабатывать и даже уходить на время от расплаты по кармическим долгам. В понятие кармы входит ещё и путь постепенного вычленения своего сознания из общего круга и одновременного вхождения в общий поток. То есть карма - это путь человека. Именно выбор между Добром и Злом формирует карму, а также позволяет уменьшить или увеличить её влияние.

Until a man repays his karmic debt, he can’t exit the circle of transformation. Each one of us has three ways to self-realisation: 1. Lowest way — destruction, deterioration and worsening of own karma. This is the way of the man, who uses all his talents and abilities in the wrong way, choosing negativity and adding to the overall deterioration of the world. This is a road to nowhere, into nothingness, to the Chinvat Bridge, which is nothing but a thin line. 2. Middle way — the way of most people, which repay their karmic debts and create new ones. These people are usually too focused on everyday problems, are run by pragmatic considerations only, prefer to avoid choices and live, as is acceptable to them. This way is not too far removed from the lowest way and the transition is quite easy. 3. Highest way — the most difficult, assuming an uninterrupted development of creative abilities, and active choice in favour of Good and an active fight against Evil. This is the way of the few, yet these few make the first step to the circle of transformation, to the ultimate goal, which is the victory of Good vs Evil. We all make our choices.

По этому пути идут немногие, но именно они делают первый шаг к выходу из круговорота воплощений, к достижению основной цели - победе Добра над Злом. Выбор своего пути - за каждым из нас.

The trend of the time! You can find many items to create this beautiful, light style in your garden, balcony or veranda. For the basic materials, go for tiles that have the colours of the earth and since the earth is not monochrome, we encourage the use of tiles in a combination of colours or even sizes. For furniture go for cast or wrought iron ones or wood. Combine other materials too and use delicate designs or designs which look as if they are made out of iron. Decoration should be either of wood or colourful like the tropical cocktails served with fresh fruit.

Global Wellness Day is a journey of self-awareness, where you will discover that you can change each day of your life. Global Wellness Day is an international, non-profitable event, created by volunteers. The health day includes physical exercise, clean eating and mental exercise and is a social movement that aims to raise awareness on improving quality of life across the world. Global Wellness Day is celebrated in 100 countries across the world simultaneously. This event is a reminder that anybody can live a better life and they can start doing so immediately. Global Wellness Day is not a fitness competition. Global Wellness Day is an entirely non-profitable project. Global Wellness Day is a unique philosophy that is based on rules, which can help anybody feel better, live positively and in harmony with themselves and others around. These rules form the Global Wellness Day manifesto, which tells us to: 1. walk for 1 hour per day, 2. drink more water, 3. avoid using plastic containers, 4. eat healthy, 5. do a good deed, 6. sleep by 10:00 pm 7. have dinner with the family. This is the second year that Cyprus joins Global Wellness Day celebrations. This year the event took place on 10 June and was massively more influential than it was in 2016. Participants could attend a strength intense class from the very morning, conducted at the Limassol Marina Beach Bar by Sanctum Spa and Fitness, called Glutes & Abs. Furthermore, anybody could join yoga sessions in St. Raphael Resort on the day. And lastly, the Old Port of Limassol square was witness to the grand finale event, which included participation from instructors of various fitness clubs in Limassol. The program included classes by Les Mills, specifically: Bodycombat, Cardio Grit, Zumba. Guests could also enjoy the fiery and inspiring performances from the dancers and acrobats of the OShow. Zita yogurts and KEO provided snacks and hydration that were equally healthy and necessary for all that took part in the fitness classes outside. Guests could talk to physiotherapists, test their balancing skills and more. The most important factor is that because of the generous sponsors, the entire event was 100% free. This is a large factor that contributed to the 2,000 people strong crowd in attendance at the Limassol Old Port on 10 June. he fashion event, organized by Vestnik Kipra, featured Limassol boutiques Trussardi, Senso di Stile, Le Stelle and Zephyr. The show opened with a contemporary line-up from Trussardi, which brought a trendy and fun feel to the runway. Senso di Stile got some new fans there and then, when the sharp, tailored and perfectly accessorized lady-like outfits started pouring onto the runway. Le Stelle brought spring onto the catwalk, when it showed flowing, flower-embroidered dresses, long and short, which were equally romantic and playful. Italians were in force on the catwalk and the looks reflected the elegance and trendy style we have come to expect from Milan. The new store in town, Zephyr, closed the show with casual wear in stylish designs, made with highest quality fabric and dresses so elegant that no wedding or christening can do without them. Entertainment was on hand to make our guests enjoy the night even more. Light shows, dance numbers by Hallmark Dance School, violin performance, live singing by Natalia Gulevitch – there was something for all of the guests to enjoy. The guests have been raving about the last entertainment number – the aerial acrobatic OShow and the catwalk by the glamorous Mrs Monaco, Natalia Shapovalova. And the crowning moment of the night was the finale of the model competition that started back in February. Ten beautiful contestants took the stage. Four gorgeous judges were presenting the prizes. Ekaterina Melas, Tatiana Magnitskaya, Antonina Karpenko and Emilia Papadopoulos decided that the winners were: Christina Charalambous that got to be on the cover of Afisha Cyprus, as part of an editorial shoot and secured a contract with ModelPro model agency. All the ladies and gentlemen were shining bright, thanks to the makeup from WAS by Anna Socratous and hair by Dessange Paris. QuickSpa in Limassol became model-central for the day, as everyone, including Mrs Monaco were carefully pampered throughout the day. The guests were treated to welcome drinks from DrinkLobby, the new concept spirits store in Limassol, and got plenty of presents to take home, as well as lovely memories. XTEssentials and Dessange Paris took care of the goodie bags that concealed fashion-worthy surprises for all in attendance. The night wrapped up with an after party, where the organizers and the glorious models could finally relax, reflect on the glamorous debut of Project Front Row and…start plotting what’s next! Шоу открылось модной коллекцией от Trussardi, которая добавила задор, современные силуэты и спортивный шик на подиум. Бутик Senso di Stile сразу заработал себе новых поклонников, когда на подиум вышли наряды идеального, классического кроя, дополненные идеальными аксессуарами. Магазин Le Stelle навеял весеннее настроение, показав летящие, яркие платья, которые были как романтичны, так и игривы. Итальянские бренды доминировали на подиуме, демонстрируя элегантный и модный стиль, который мы привыкли ожидать от Милана. Заключительным элементом дефиле был новый бутик Zephyr, который показал дневную одежду и вечерние наряды на все праздники жизни. Развлекательная программа добавила впечатлений гостям. Световые шоу номера, танцевальная группа Hallmark Dance School, звуки скрипки и пение Натальи Гулевич – это то, чем могли насладиться гости шоу. А гвоздем развлекательной программы стал акробат из состава OShow, который выступил в тандеме с Миссис Монако 2017, Натальей Шаповаловой, которая приехала на Project Front Row прямиком с Лазурного Берега. Коронным номером в программе была церемония награждения моделей, которые готовились к шоу с февраля. 10 конкуренток (и один конкурсант) вышли на сцену. Четыре прекрасных судьи выдавали призы. 6th International Children’s Festival

n 7th May 2017, Sunday, a bright, creative and fun children’s festival took place for the 6th time, gathering together kids of various ages, nationalities and interests, as well as their parents, bringing them to the celebration of friendship and art. This event has long become the favourite and long awaited feature in the Paphos social calendar and in the agenda of the island, as a whole, seeing as kids from all over Cyprus take part. This year the festival simply had to link the theme of the event to Paphos’ honorary title as the European Capital of Culture, which resulted in the title of ‘Mosaic of Culture’ being given to the festival by the organisers. This was the key theme for the artistic efforts of the kids, which took part in the traditional literary and creative competitions. It is worth noting that they handled the task perfectly, which was duly noted by the jury, which selected the winner. The prizes for the winners included diplomas and gifts, such as theatre tickets from “Magical world of theatre”, waterpark entrance for “Aphordite’s Waterpark”, as well as entry to the theme park “Cyprus Land”. The winners of the competition of groups will eat massive, delicious cake. The gala concert impressed the guests, as per usual, as they watched the stage with bated breath. Many contestants in the concert are here for several years in a row and their performances are awaited eagerly by the spectators, which are festival regulars. Yet, there were newcomers, including groups, that pleasantly surprised the audience. The songs, tradition or modern, ballroom dances, ballet, spoon play — these are a few of the performances from the rich festival program. You simply must visit the festival next year and enjoy the unbelievably talented kids we showcase! Special guests of the festival includes such outstanding persons as the representatives

воскресенье 7 мая 2017 яркий, креативный, веселый детский фестиваль вот уже в шестой раз собрал вместе ребят разных возрастов, национальностей и увлечений, а также их родителей на праздник дружбы и творчества. Это мероприятие уже давно стало любимым и долгожданным событием в культурной жизни не только Пафоса, но и всего острова, ведь в нем принимают участие ребята со всех уголков Кипра. Но в этом году фестиваль не мог не связать свою тему с почетным статусом родного города – культурной столицей Европы, и название ему организаторы выбрали соответствующее – «Мозаика культур». Именно эта тема стала основой для творчества ребят, участвующих в традиционных для фестиваля литературном и художественном конкурсах. И, надо отметить, что с задачей они справились на «отлично», что с восторгом отметили профессиональные члены жюри, выбиравшие победителей конкурсов. В награду победители получили дипломы и подарки – билеты в театр от компании «Волшебный мир театра», в аквапарк “Aphrodite’sWaterpark” и тематический парк “CyprusLand”. А победившие в конкурсах группы будут дружно есть огромные вкусные торты. Гала-концерт, как всегда, порадовал зрителей, которые смотрели на сцену, затаив дыхание. Многие участники концерта уже не первый год принимают участие в фестивале, и их выступлений с нетерпением ждут завсегдатаи фестиваля, но были и новые талантливые коллективы, поразившие публику ничуть не меньше. Песни, современные, народные и бальные танцы, балет, игра на ложках – вот лишь немногие номера из богатой программы фестиваля. Обязательно приходите на концерт в следующем году и
