Emmanuel BOTTIAU DirecteurDear Friends of Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad,
As evidenced by the extraordinary welcome given to President Macron during his official visit to India earlier this year, the Franco-Indian friendship has never been stronger.
This unique link is the raison d'être of the Alliance Française d'Ahmedabad and is reflected in our action
Starting with the “Night of Ideas”, during which we will have the pleasure to share with you the fruit of a very inspiring Franco-Indian collaboration on the burning topic of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on our future.
Then it will be French photographer Anne Garde’s turn to tell her mesmerizing encounter with India in pictures, a journey where reality gradually leaves room for mysticism and the divine
As every year, we also invite you to celebrate La Francophonie with games, contests, workshops, films, and immersive virtual reality experiences.
“Ahmedabad, Parlons!” is another highlight which proposes this year to question and debate on the complex and protean topic of public spaces and bears the promise of exciting discussions.
In addition to this rich programming, the coming weeks will see the opening of a brand-new café in our premises and the gradual transformation of our media library.
All this for you, with you and thanks to you!
Emmanuel BOTTIAU DirectorGuided

Congratulations to our esteemed professors

Ahmedabad, parlons !
Public Spaces : Who does the city belong to?
a talk series on exploring dichotomies in the urban

An oft asked question is: who owns public spaces? Is it the state, the citizens or both? And if both, then what is the social contract? Should cars be on our roads rather than cows? Should parking be reserved for vehicles or vendors?
To deliberate some of these topics around urban spaces, we bring you the third edition of our yearly talk series “Ahmedabad, Parlons!”. Over two days, we will get speakers from across the spectrum - city planners, architects, urban designers, activists, public officials, academics and even street vendors and those whose homes get demolished routinely - to tell their stories.
ke public spaces for granted, most time.
r imaginations, public spaces denote arks, the footpaths, the promenades riverfronts and the common ties for public use. We look at space from the lens of recreation, velihood or homes to be made on. imagination of public usage in the average urban mind is about amenities and comfort, and less on its contribution to creating patterns of migration – by providing spaces for work to spaces for homes.

What makes a good citizen? Is it enough just to vote? How many of us understand the legislations that govern our city or country?
The Ahmedabad School of Public Policy works to bridge the gap between citizens and government.
It offers online and offline programs, workshops and other forms of engagement on civic engagement, public policy and governance.
Ahmedabad, parlons !
Ahmedabad, parlons! is the annual dialogue series of the Ahmedabad School of Public Policy.
It’s a discourse on the city, what makes it, what constitutes it, what creates it and what helps it evolve.
From discussing why there are cows on our roads, to the larger issues of inclusivity and social fabric of the city, from public spaces to informal workers who make the city run, Ahmedabad, parlons! annually brings varied voices on a common platform to talk about issues that matter, in partnership with Alliance Française d’ Ahmedabad.
