Access Rental Gulf offers IPAF Training courses for powered access operators, IPAF Operator training is accredited to the ISO 18878 training standard. IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) is an internationally recognised standard for training on Powered Access equipment with over 850,000 licensed operators worldwide.

This 1-3-day course instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate various Manlifts and MEWPs, including scissor lifts and boom lifts. A mix of theory and practical training, this course is designed to enable operators to manoeuvre, drive and position the MEWPs safely and proficiently. Courses can be undertaken on scissor lifts, boom lifts, trailer mounted or truck-mounted platforms.

The Mobile Vertical 3a scissor lift and personnel platform operator course is a one-day training program that teaches operators how to prepare and safely operate these machines. The course is a combination of theoretical and practical training, designed to equip operators with the necessary skills to manoeuvre, drive, and position the MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) safely and effectively.

The Mobile Boom 3b Self-propelled boom operator course covers both theoretical and practical aspects, providing operators with the necessary skills to operate and position the MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) safely and efficiently. The course is suitable for operators of various types of MEWPs, boom lifts, trailer-mounted, and truck-mounted platforms.

This course instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate Static Boom 1b self-propelled booms. Operators will need to bring their own harness in order to complete 1b training.

This training course is designed for individuals who need to showcase their proficiency in operating and ensuring the safety of a Mobile Ele vating Work Platform (MEWP) to a trained operator. The program cov ers the same machine categories as the operator training program and is aimed at satisfying the high-de mand requirements of the industry.

Dubai Municipality & OSHAD Requirements

IPAF only international MEWP training course to conform to ISO18878

Dubai Municipality TG GU67 requires operators to be trained to ISO18878 - IPAF

Abu Dhabi OSHAD COP 34 & 36 requires operators to have PAL (Powered Access License) – IPAF, or Equivalent.

Checklist for using Access Platforms

Working height

The machine reach heights in this brochure relate to the measurement from ground level to the maximum platform height, plus an extra two metres.

Required outreach

Outreach relates to the measurement from the centre of the turret plus an extra 5cm on a fully extended boom.

Carrying weight

Always check the safe working load (SWL) of the machine before operating. Calculate the weight of the operative (an average male is 85kg) plus tools and compare the total to the machine’s SWL.

Wind speed Which operator

Working in unsafe wind conditions is dangerous. Always refer to the machine operator’s manual for the maximum safe wind speed and double check by using an anemometer.

All of our machines can be self operated. If your operator does not hold a recognised license then contact us about training (see pages 7-10 for more information about IPAF training).

The condition of the ground can make a huge difference to the performance of the machine. For example working on a gradient, wet or rough terrain will affect a choice of equipment. We recommend that you discuss this with your Hire Desk Controller or Sales Manager.

Diesel powered machines are mainly used outdoors. All machines used outdoors should have a wind rating. Also consider the outreach needed and ground conditions.

When working indoors we recommend electric powered machines. Remember to measure any doors which the machine may need to pass through and also let us know if you are working on a surface where you will need non-marking tyres or wheel covers.

Finally before operating any machine, always remember to read through the machine operator’s manual
