Welcome to the new edition of the French May Cinema Programme, our must-see screenings as part of the French May Arts Festival! The 2024 edition, named “Cine-Art”, is for all lovers of the arts in all their forms, from painting to gastronomy, literature, theatre and music. Come and rediscover the famous French artists who have shaped France’s beautiful heritage through a selection of ten films.
This “Cine-Art” section has something for every taste, with a wide variety of genres from documentaries to biopics, drama to animation. In this carefully curated selection, you will find films that were nominated or rewarded at the Cannes Film Festival (Bonnard, Pierre and Marthe, The Taste of Things). The versatility of French cinema will enable you to discover Tehachapi, a poignant documentary following artist JR in a carcerate prison, as well as The Inventor, perfectly suited for children.
Through the art of music, you will follow the story of Zahia Zouani through her biopic Divertimento. This incredible woman fought hard and succeeded in creating the Divertimento symphony orchestra, one of the world's leading symphony ensembles. Zahia Zouani will be in Hong Kong for the French May Festival at the Symphony of New Worlds event.
For all to enjoy, the French May Cinema Programme offers screenings in Macau with the support of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macao, and Alliance française de Macao.
非常高興又迎來新一屆的法國五月 電影節目，這是法國五月藝術節 絕對不容錯過的環節！今年電影節目 的主題是「電影與藝術」，從繪畫到 美食、文學、戲劇和音樂，能迎合所 有形式的藝術愛好者。透過展影的十 部影片讓大家再一次認識那些塑造法 國美麗文化遺產的著名法國藝家。
「電影與藝術」的選片考慮到觀眾 的各種口味，從紀錄片到人物傳 記、劇情片到動畫等多種類型。這 系列經過精心挑選的影片包括一些 在康城影展獲獎的電影，如《波納 爾與瑪特》(Bonnard, Pierre and Marthe)、《味遊心窩》(The Taste of Things)。因為法國電影的多元發 展才讓大家有機會看到《特哈查比監 獄》(Tehachapi)，一部發人深省、
感人的紀錄片，內容紀錄了藝術家 JR 在一所戒備森嚴的監獄中的活動，還 有非常適合兒童觀看的動畫《大發明 家》(The Inventor)。
音樂藝術方面則透過人物傳記 《交響狂花》(Divertimento) 講述 Zahia Zouani 的故事。這位了不 起的女性經過艱苦奮鬥，成功創立 了世界最著名的其中一隊交響樂團 Divertimento 。 Zahia Zouani 與 她的交響樂團將來港參與法國五月的 新世界交響頌的演出。
為了方便大家觀賞，法國五月電影節 目計畫在法國駐港澳總領事館及澳門 法國文化協會的支持下，在澳門舉行 放映活動。

Immerse yourself in the history of Notre–Dame, with 3D model, VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), videos, photographs and architectural exploratory works designed by CityU students.

André Masson, an auctioneer, receives a letter claiming that a common worker in Mulhouse owns a painting by Egon Schiele. André’s first reaction is to believe that it can only be fake. Despite the difficulties, he make a trip to Mulhouse anyway, the painting turns out to be a masterpiece gone missing in 1939. This could undoubtedly be the turning point of his career, but after a brief investigation, he realizes that he is handling a looted art.

Driven by determination, passion, and courage, they create their own orchestra, Divertimento. It will be a game-changer. “Divertimento” is inspired by the life of Zahia Ziouani, one of the few worldwide renown female conductors.

Inventing flying contraptions, war machines and studying cadavers, Leonardo da Vinci tackles the meaning of life itself with the help of French princess Marguerite de Nevarre.
The film starts off in Rome, Italy 1516, where Leonardo da Vinci is using a ‘telescope’, made out of a mirror contraption, to examine the Moon’s features in order to find if there was indeed life and seas on its surface. Leonardo is followed by members of the Papal Court into the room where Zoroastro reveals a human body for scientific probing, to search for the answer to life itself and the soul. The Pope is informed of this and orders Leonardo to cease further investigation into God’s works.
