During this year’s November 8 General Election, voters will be choosing candidates and deciding on ballot issues at the federal, state, and local levels. The St. Louis County Election Board expects voter turnout to be high for this mid term election, hence the need for more Election Judges and Student Election Judges to serve the public Election Judges play a pivotal role in making it possible for citizens to rightfully exercise the franchise on Election Day. A typical election will have over 65% of voters cast their ballots on Election Day at 200+ polling places throughout St. Louis County. Election Judges set up the polling place, manage the voting process, and secure the ballots for collection at the Election Board. They are truly the “backbone” of the electoral process. Student Election Judges greatly contribute to this effort as well by assisting the Election Judges in administering the electoral process. Students’ responsibilities will include assisting our veteran Election Judges in processing and managing voter lines. The Student Election Judge Program offers an excellent opportunity for students to learn and witness firsthand how elections are organized andElectionadministered.Judges are rewarded a stipend of $280 for their service. Students will have the option to receive community service hours or pay for their work ($170).
