Safety Town Hall Meeting December 4 | 6:30 pm Affton Elks (6330 Heege) The St. Louis County Police Department and StepUp are partnering to help educate residents about crime issues, vaping and drug use. Informational material on crime prevention, free gun locks will be available. There will also be a presentation about the Ring system as a tool to help reduce crime in the community. Flea Market December 14 | 8:30 am-1:00 pm Affton Community Center (9801 Mackenzie) Cash in on unwanted goods or perhaps find your next treasure at the Affton Community Center Flea Market. Labor Law Breakfast on Medical Marijuana Laws December 11 | 8:00-9:30 am IBEW Local 1439 (2121 59th St., 63110) Are you wondering how Missouri’s new medical marijuana laws will affect you, your work, or your place of employment? These are all good questions. Join Department of Health & Senior Services Medical Marijuana Regulation Director, Lyndall Fraker, to hear how Missouri’s medical marijuana laws will be implemented. This will be a great presentation. We hope to see you there. The cost is $20 a person. Register at extension2.missouri.edu/events/labor-law-breakfast2019 Embryology: Chicks in the Classroom Free Embryology training session for educators. Topics include operating incubators, caring for eggs and chicks, managing risk and classroom activities. The Embryology program encourages hands-on learning and discussion of issues related to human and chicken development as children take care of eggs that hatch into chicks. The 2week session will begin on March 10, 2020 or April 14, 2020. There are a few options for Curricula to enhance classroom activities: Hatching Classroom Projects (grades 2-5), Experiments in Poultry Science (grades 6-8), and new this year Chick Quest Teacher Guide and Student Log Book. I have been in the field of Photographer for over 40 years. Other than my family it has been very important in my life. My husband and 2 sons always came first and my photography career followed very closely behind them. I believe in being involved and giving back to the community because if you give you will always feel good in you heart. I have developed an interest in gardening. I love the challenge of growing my herbs and vegetables from seeds that I save from the produce the previous year. My husband was kind enough to build a large caged in area so that the nasty little squirrels do not get to the tomatoes before I do.

With increased presence of charitable organizations that provide assistance to families in need around the holidays, the Affton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has decided to change our annual Helping Hands Program. We feel that instead of adopting families, we will have more of an impact by collecting and distributing monetary support to our area organizations.
