Since the festival’s inception in 1993, the Affton Community Days festival has taken place at one of several locations within Affton. However, for 2017 the organizing committee of the Affton Community Days festival was unable to secure a venue. Even though there will not be a festival this year, the committee will still uphold the standing tradition of the parade that has taken place since 1984. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2017 and the theme is “Affton Chamber Turns Platinum”. The parade begins at 10:00 am at Affton High School, traveling south on Mackenzie, then east on Gravois, west on Weber, then north on Mackenzie where it will end at Rogers Middle School parking lot. Judges will award winners for participants including Theme of Parade, Judge’s Choice, Most Original Entry, Best Church Entry and Best School Entry. To register to participate in the Affton Community Days Parade, visit www.afftonchamber.com. Stay up-todate by following Affton Community Days Facebook page at www.facebook.com/afftondays.

NEW IN 2017 … A CHAMBER FLOAT! We need YOU to join in the unique and fun experience of planning & decorating the Affton Chamber’s parade float...bring your co-workers, friends, and family members! Interested? Contact the Chamber office today!

The Chamber wishes to exercise its civic duty by advising the Chamber members of the two, separate propositions which they may be voting on in the upcoming April 2017 election. The Affton Fire Protection District’s proposition, Prop A, is asking for the passage of a property tax which is slated to support the Affton Fire Protection District. The other proposition, Prop P, is asking for the passage of a sales tax to provide additional support to the St. Louis County Police Department, as well as to all of the municipal police departments located within St. Louis County. While the Chamber is not taking a position on either proposition, i.e. the Chamber cannot by its By-Laws support or not support a referenda without the vote of its members, the Chamber’s Board of Directors believes Chamber members should be aware of these separate propositions which may be on his or her ballot when he or she votes in the April 2017 election. That way, a Chamber member can educate himself or herself on either of the propositions before going to the polls. FIND OUT MORE AT:

We asked the newest Board Members to answer a few questions so we can get to know them better. We’ll feature one here each month. Let’s get to know…
