Fairytale Castle

How did you meet?

We met in college. Rob had actually joined the course late and of the two classes running he was supposed to be in the one that I wasn't in but due to a mistake and the other class being full he was put into the same class as me.

I noticed him straight away but it was a good few weeks before we started talking more than just the hellos and goodbyes. He asked me out on a date and the rest is history

Castell Coch is known as a fairy tale castle because of it's beautiful interior. I felt like such a princess arriving in my beautiful dress to marry my Prince Charming.

What did the bridal party wear?

We decided to dress my daughter and my twin nieces in gorgeous duck egg and ivory lace dresses. They have a vintage look which is just perfect for a castle wedding. My son wore a cute little suit making him look like a proper boy even though he's only 6 months old!

My now husband decided upon a welsh kilt, he looked so handsome in it too. My wedding dress though was the real bargain it was in a clearance sale therefore I only ended up paying £50 for it!

How did the proposal happen?

It all started when we were watching an episode of friends.

The one in which Phoebe refers to Rachel as Ross' lobster, meaning they are meant for each other, they always find their way back to each other just as lobsters apparently do. Well Rob and I refer to ourselves as the lobsters. Cheesy I know but I find it sweet.

One sunny day we went to a shop and whilst in there we noticed that they sold lobsters. Rob randomly blurts out "Why don’t we buy one and set it free?" To which I replied he was completely mad but agreed to anyway!

We decided to go to a rocky beach I knew. By the time we arrived 'Larry' was safely tucked into Rob’s backpack although he said he could feel its claws stroking his back!. We got down to the beach and Rob then bravely cut off the tape around the lobsters claws, approached the sea and released Larry.

We turned and started packing up our things, then the next thing I knew Rob took me by the hands and got down on one knee and asked me those 4 special words, "Will you marry me?", It was just so romantic, spur of the moment, unexpected but it was perfect.

What was your wedding day style?

Our wedding day style was very much vintage fairy tale. Set in a magical castle with our little fairy bridesmaids running around the trees and enchanted forest it was beautiful.

What accessories did you have?

My daughter walked down the aisle with a wooden heart sign which read "Here comes the bride" she handed it to her daddy at the alter before I walked in. My twin nieces had pretty fairy wands which they happily twirled whilst walking down the aisle. We had bubbles which were used in the castle courtyard making our photos look very pretty.

My bridal bouquet is very special to me as I had a photo charm attached to it of my mum who is very sadly not with us any more. This was she able to be with me every step of the way.

Where did the wedding take place?

We chose to get married in Castell Coch just outside Cardiff.

Rob loves his history and is especially fond of visiting castles.

Describe your wedding rings?

I knew exactly what kind of wedding ring I wanted! My engagement ring is an 18ct white gold solitaire diamond ring

Brides Name: Katie Searle-Jones Grooms Name: Robert Davies Date of Wedding: 7th September 2014 and I wanted a delicate looking wedding ring to match. I chose a beautiful white gold band with a row of diamonds along the top of it.

Rob I think spent the most amount of time looking for his wedding ring. He didn't particularly want a gold ring or a silver ring! He chose a palladium ring which has an almost grey silver band running through the middle with silver edging on either side.

What were the highlights?

One the highlights had to be our beautiful wedding buffet marquee. It was decorated so grand with swags from the ceiling and chandeliers.

At our wedding evening party my amazing Auntie, Claire and her daughter Chloe sung our first wedding dance song 'Christina Perri's' A Thousand Years it was beautiful.

How did it end?

Our wedding day ended with me and my husband slow dancing on our own after everybody had left.

It was so romantic being able to have that first moment as husband and wife to ourselves.

Is there anything you now wish you'd done differently?

I can honestly say I don't think I would change any part of our wedding day. It went so smoothly it was perfect. Maybe I'd slow down the time though as the whole day went by much too fast!

Where did you go on honeymoon?

We decided not to have an overseas honeymoon but to have our first family holiday. As we have two children under two years of age we didn't want to go too far so we decided upon a trip to Tenby where we can all enjoy the family attractions.

What plans do you have for your future together?

As for our future I think we will just take each day as it comes now. We have everything we could have ever dreamed of - we beautiful children, our own family home, and each other. We will live for the present day and cherish every moment.

How did you meet?

Nick and I met through a mutual friend back in 2011 on a night out in Birmingham.

Describe your wedding rings?

Brides wedding ring was a plain platinum Cartier band and grooms was a silver and Welsh gold band from Clogau.

How did the proposal happen?

After choosing the ring at Tiffany & co I asked Nick to surprise me with the actual proposal, he chose one lazy Sunday morning just as the sun was shining in through the window to take the ring out from underneath the pillow and ask me to marry him! It was a lovely private moment, just the two of us.

What were the highlights?

Highlights were all of our friends and family arriving from all over including Australia. The bride being presented with personalised Tiffany necklace and a luggage tag with her new name on it. The groom getting a Pair of 5 inch platform shoes in the wedding speech. The DJ playing smack my bitch up and seeing the whole room go a bit mad. The best bit really was just seeing the huge smile on everyone's faces!

Where did the wedding take place?

The wedding took place at the Millhouse- Riverside Hotel in Sharnbrook. Absolutely stunning venue and Karl and the team were absolutely amazing from the second we booked it until we left the day after.

What did the bridal party wear?

Bride wore a Maggie Sottero strapless two piece dress with sparkly Louboutins and Bridesmaids wore smoky grey chiffon dresses by Venus Bridal with Carvela shoes.

How did it end?

It ended late.... In the bar... With a fireman swearing!

Is there anything you now wish you’d done differently?

We wouldn't change a thing!

What was your wedding day style?

Our wedding day style was American Diner inspired, from the gorgeous milkshake flower table decorations from Forever Flowers to the Diner cake from Love of Cupcakes and the American Buffet food created by the Millhouse.

What accessories did you have?

Accessories were Swarovski necklace, earrings and bracelet from glitzy secrets, personalised bridesmaid bracelets from Links & Chains. Groom and best men had bespoke shoes made by richard@chaneco.co.uk

Where did you go on honeymoon?

We had a Minimoon in the Yorkshire Dales with our St Bernard, another Minimoon planned in November to visit the USA for thanksgiving with friends and will look for something exotic in the New Year.

What plans do you have for your future together?

Our future together... Lots of love, lots of laughter and a whole heap of new experiences to do together!
