warm welcome to all of you who have joined us this evening for our Annual Affinity Charity Ball. This year it’s in aid of Keech Hospice Care and in memory of a very good friend of mine “Pat McGirl” Pat, was to the many people who knew him an inspiration and a pure legend and to me he was also a dear friend who I still miss immensely.

Tonight is about having fun, (something Pat had a gold medal in ) and raising as much as we can for Keech Hospice Care. I am hoping to reproduce the huge success of last year.

Keech Hospice Care supports adults living in Luton and South Bedfordshire and children from across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes. Their aim is to help patients enjoy the highest quality of life, while providing vital support for their family and friends throughout their loved one's illness and in their bereavement, so if the monies raised tonight can help towards this even just a little bit, then we should all feel very proud of ourselves.

I have had some tremendous support whilst putting this evening together and for that I am extremely grateful and all I can say is “Thank you”.

Finally, introductory words for this event would be incomplete without my sincere gratitude and thanks to all those generous people who have donated the superb items included in tonight’s Auction and Raffle.

I hope you have a wonderful evening, and remember “Life’s not a rehersal it’s for living!”

At Keech, we may not be able to add days to life, but with your help we can add life to days.

Keech Hospice Care supports adults living in Luton and South Bedfordshire and children from across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes. Our aim is to help patients enjoy the highest quality of life, while providing vital support for their family and friends throughout their loved one's illness and in their bereavement.

We deliver a wide range of services including; inpatient and day services, outreach services, care and support for children and a befriending and support service for adults in the community. We also have a helpline for all patients and their families whenever they need it. But most of all, we help families make everlasting memories to cherish, and have fun with loved ones to the very end.

We need to raise more than £5 million from local people, businesses and organisations. That’s more than £13,000 per day! All of our services are offered free of charge, every single day of the year and this is all made possible because of the generous support of the local community and events such as tonight. Not forgetting our volunteers, without whom we could not deliver our range of services to the people who so desperately need them.

Each and every one of you in this room tonight is ‘doing your bit’ to help, so thank you!

Please join me in thanking Jane and the Affinity team for hosting this event and of course, a big thank you to all of you for your support.
