Affinity Luxury Lifestyle Magazine June 2026

Page 1

June always feels like the month where summer truly begins, doesn’t it? The calendars start filling up, the evenings stretch that little bit longer, and suddenly every spare moment feels like an invitation to be outdoors enjoying it all.

There’s something so special about this time of year rooftop lunches in the sunshine, weekends away, garden gatherings that turn into late evenings, and that feeling of wanting life to feel just a little lighter and more beautiful. In this issue, we’re embracing exactly that.

From effortless summer fashion (page 21) and this season’s most beautiful fragrances (page 20), to interior inspiration with warm mustard tones (page 37) bringing sunshine indoors, these pages are filled with ideas to help you enjoy the season in style.

If you’re dreaming of an escape, we’re taking you from the turquoise coastline of Bodrum to the peaceful beauty of Bhutan, the timeless charm of Lake Garda, and a beautiful country house retreat in the Lake District. Whether you’re planning a far-flung adventure or a luxury stay a little closer to home, turn to page 45 for more inspiration.

Alongside the glamour of the season, we’re also focusing on wellbeing in a very real and relatable way. From menopauseproofing your skin (page 16) to understanding why our minds tend to overthink at night (page 8), we’re exploring simple ways to feel calmer, more balanced, and more like yourself again.

And of course, June wouldn’t be June without all the events that make the month feel so iconic, Wimbledon, Ascot, summer festivals, long lunches, chilled rosé and every excuse possible to celebrate the season. Now all we need is the sunshine to stay a little longer!

Until next month

Overthinking at Night?

Here’s Why Your Mind Won’t Switch Off

If your mind seems to come alive the moment your head hits the pillow, you are far from alone. Many people find that night-time becomes the perfect breeding ground for overthinking. The house is quiet, distractions disappear and suddenly your brain starts replaying conversations, worrying about tomorrow or imagining worst-case scenarios.

For some, it feels like an endless mental loop that steals sleep, drains energy and leaves them feeling exhausted before the next day has even begun.

During the day, your brain is busy processing tasks, conversations, work, family life and constant stimulation. But at night, when everything slows down, your mind finally has space to catch up.

The problem is that the brain does not always know the difference between a genuine problem that needs solving and an anxious “what if?” thoght. So instead of winding down for sleep, your brain stays alert, scanning for danger or unfinished business.

This can trigger the body’s stress response, increasing adrenaline and cortisol levels when they should naturally be lowering. The result? Racing thoughts, tension, shallow breathing and difficulty drifting into restful sleep.

Overthinking at night often becomes a habit loop. You struggle to sleep, you become frustrated, you worry about being tired tomorrow and your brain becomes even more alert. After a while, bedtime itself can start to feel stressful. Many people say they dread getting into bed because they already expect their mind to race.

People often ask themselves, “Why can’t I just stop thinking?” But the brain does not respond well to force or pressure. In fact, the more you try not to think about something, the more attention your brain gives it.

Your subconscious mind is designed to protect you. If it believes there is something important to solve, it keeps bringing it back into your awareness, even at 2am. This is why simply telling yourself to “calm down” rarely works on its own.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works differently to many traditional talking therapies. Rather than

repeatedly analysing problems from the past, it focuses on helping you retrain the brain to feel calmer, safer and more in control in the present.

By understanding how anxiety and stress affect the brain, clients often begin to feel relieved very quickly. Hypnosis itself encourages the mind and body into a deeply relaxed state, helping reduce the constant mental chatter that keeps people awake at night.

Over time, this can help you feel calmer at bedtime, reduce racing thoughts, improve sleep quality, lower anxiety levels and feel more emotionally resilient during the day. Many people also notice that once they begin sleeping better, everything else starts to feel easier too. concentration improves, patience increases and everyday worries become more manageable.

Alongside hypnotherapy, a few gentle habits can also help settle an overactive mind before bed. Avoid scrolling on your phone late at night, dim the lights and create a calmer evening routine, write down worries or tomorrow’s tasks before bed and try to focus on what went well during your day. Listening to calming audio or relaxation recordings can also help signal to the brain that it is safe to relax.

If overthinking at night has become your normal, it can feel exhausting and lonely. But your brain is capable of change. With the right support, it is possible to quieten the mental noise, feel calmer at bedtime and finally get the restful sleep your mind and body need.

Because nights were never meant to feel like a battle with your own thoughts.

The Importance and Benefits of Creativity

Creativity is often linked to artists, musicians, or writers, but the truth is that it belongs to everyone. It appears in the way we solve problems, adapt to change, communicate with others, and express ourselves. Whether it is cooking, building a business, decorating a home, or finding a new way through a difficult situation, creativity plays a far bigger role in everyday life than many people realise.

In a world that constantly demands flexibility and fresh thinking, creativity has become one of the most valuable human skills. Beyond artistic talent, it supports emotional wellbeing, builds confidence, strengthens relationships, and helps people grow both personally and professionally.

One of the biggest benefits of creativity is its positive effect on mental wellbeing. Activities such as writing, painting, gardening, dancing, photography, or music give people an outlet for emotions that are difficult to put into words. They create space to slow down and reconnect with ourselves in a world that often feels overwhelming.

Many people find creative hobbies calming because they encourage focus and presence. When we become absorbed in creating something, the mind gets a break from stress and overthinking. Creativity can bring a sense of calm, helping reduce anxiety while improving mood and emotional balance.

Creativity also builds confidence. Turning an idea into reality, no matter how small, creates a sense of achievement. It encourages people to trust themselves, take healthy risks, and approach challenges with more belief in their abilities. This is especially important for children and young people, who benefit hugely from learning that their ideas matter.

Problem-solving is another area where creativity becomes invaluable. Creative thinkers often approach situations from different angles and remain open to new possibilities. This ability to adapt is essential in both daily life and the workplace.

Businesses increasingly value creativity because innovation drives progress. Many of the world’s

greatest ideas and breakthroughs began with someone imagining a different possibility. Creative employees are often better at adapting to change, finding solutions under pressure, and bringing fresh perspectives into a team.

In education, creativity helps learning feel more engaging and meaningful. Students who are encouraged to ask questions and think independently often develop stronger critical thinking skills and a deeper love of learning. Lessons become far more memorable when creativity is involved through discussion, storytelling, or handson experiences.

Creativity also strengthens communication and human connection. Shared creative experiences through music, theatre, community projects, or even online content can bring people together. Creative expression helps people communicate emotions and experiences in ways that inspire empathy and understanding.

Technology and creativity are closely connected too. Every major advancement, from smartphones to renewable energy solutions, began as an idea someone was willing to explore. As the world faces growing challenges, creative thinking will continue to play a vital role in finding new solutions and ways forward.

Most importantly, creativity enriches everyday life. It encourages curiosity, imagination, and openness to new experiences. Creativity is not reserved for a gifted few; everyone has it in different forms. Some express it through art or music, while others show it through leadership, business, problem-solving, or caring for others.

In the end, creativity is far more than a hobby or talent. It is a skill that helps people adapt, connect, innovate, and thrive. In a fast-changing world, creativity is not a luxury; it is an essential part of what makes us human.

Menopause-proof your Skin

There is a reason menopause is often referred to as “the change.” As hormone levels shift during this stage of life, many women notice significant changes in their skin, from dryness and sensitivity to acne, sagging and loss of radiance.

According to GP and menopause expert Dr Aarthi Sinha, declining oestrogen plays a major role in the ageing process during menopause. Oestrogen is essential for the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, two substances responsible for keeping skin firm, plump and hydrated. As these levels decrease, skin can become thinner, drier and less elastic, leading to fine lines, wrinkles and a dull complexion.

At the same time, natural ageing affects the structure of the face itself. Bone density gradually decreases and facial fat pads begin to drop, contributing to flattened cheeks, hollowing around the mid-face and sagging along the jawline. These changes can feel more pronounced during the peri and post-menopausal years due to the hormonal decline.

Menopause can also trigger frustrating skin conditions that many women thought they had left behind in their teenage years. Hormonal fluctuations may cause acne flare-ups, particularly in women who previously struggled with breakouts. Flushing and hot flushes can also worsen redness and rosacea, while some women experience unwanted facial hair growth linked to hormone imbalances.

Dr Sinha believes a holistic approach is key when managing menopausal skin. Lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, poor sleep, stress, alcohol and smoking all contribute to accelerated skin ageing and can intensify menopausal symptoms. Years of UV exposure and inconsistent sunscreen use can lead to accumulated skin damage, while insomnia and anxiety may impact the skin’s overall appearance and ability to repair itself.

Skincare habits also matter. Harsh soaps and

aggressive cleansers can strip the skin of essential oils and damage the skin barrier, leaving menopausal skin even more sensitive and dehydrated. Many over-the-counter products marketed specifically for menopausal skin may not deliver the promised results either. Collagen creams, for example, often provide temporary softness without significantly increasing collagen levels within the skin.

Instead, Dr Sinha recommends focusing on skin longevity through a combination of professional guidance, targeted skincare and healthy lifestyle changes. Daily SPF 50 is essential all year round, even indoors or in the car, as UV rays can penetrate glass and accelerate collagen breakdown. Reducing alcohol and caffeine intake may also help minimise redness, dryness and flushing.

Exercise is another important factor, as increased blood flow supports skin regeneration and stimulates collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production. Regular movement also benefits bone density, which naturally declines with age.

Nutrition and sleep are equally important. A balanced diet rich in protein, iron, zinc and vitamin B12 can support collagen production and overall wellbeing, while a healthy sleep routine helps regulate cortisol and hormone balance. Stress management is particularly important during menopause, as chronic stress can negatively impact both skin health and emotional wellbeing.

Dr Sinha also encourages women to seek professional advice if menopausal skin changes begin affecting confidence or self-esteem. There are many non-surgical options available that can work alongside lifestyle changes to support physical, emotional and mental wellbeing during menopause.

With the right combination of skincare, lifestyle adjustments and expert support, it is possible to maintain healthy, radiant skin throughout menopause and beyond.

Your Inner Sunshine

This month, we're exploring inner confidence, how we feel on the inside versus what we project to the outside world, particularly as summer social events begin to fill our calendars.

As we approach the Summer Solstice on 21st June, we reach a beautiful point of balance between light and dark, yin and yang. It’s a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect on your own wellbeing. Yet for many of us, this time of year can feel busier than ever, with weddings, garden parties, holidays and social gatherings all competing for our attention.

When we're constantly thinking ahead, what we're going to wear, where we're going, how we're going to feel, our nervous system can become overwhelmed, nudging us into fight-or-flight mode rather than allowing us to enjoy the present moment.

Rushed Routine vs Intentional Confidence Ritual

We've all experienced it. An event is looming, you've left everything until the last minute, the perfect outfit still hasn't been found and there are no beauty appointments available. Suddenly there's an uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach.

Creating an intentional confidence ritual before an event can make all the difference. By preparing both mind and body, you can calm your nervous system, boost your self-belief and step into any occasion feeling more aligned, relaxed and confident.

Simple Ways to Create Your Own Confidence Ritual

Create Mental Clarity - Take a few moments to think through the details of the event — the who, what, where and when. Writing down timings and plans or visualising the occasion can help create a sense of certainty and safety, which your nervous system will thank you for.

Cultivate Your Inner Sunshine - Ask yourself what helps you feel your best from the inside out. Confidence isn't something we put on; it's something we nurture through small acts of self-care and self-awareness.

Move Your Body - Movement helps release stagnant energy and can instantly shift your mood. Whether it's

a walk-in nature, stretching, dancing or a workout, moving your body helps you feel more grounded and energised.

Nourish and Rest - Colourful, nourishing foods support both your energy and wellbeing, while prioritising quality sleep in the days leading up to an event can make a remarkable difference to how you feel. A calming bedtime routine, pillow mist or soothing sleep sounds can all encourage deeper rest.

Reconnect With Yourself - An indulgent shower can become a mindful ritual rather than a daily task. Imagine any worries washing away as the water flows over you. Adding an essential oil that reflects how you want to feel — calm, confident or uplifted — can elevate the experience further.

Moisturising is another simple act of self-care. Taking a few moments to nourish your skin helps you reconnect with your body and encourages a sense of appreciation for all it does for you.

Allow Yourself to Be Cared For - One of my favourite pre-event treatments is a body scrub. Not only does it leave skin glowing and refreshed, but it also boosts circulation, supports lymphatic drainage and encourages relaxation.

Most importantly, allowing yourself to receive care can have a profound effect on self-esteem. It reinforces the belief that you are worthy of time, attention and nurturing.

In a world that constantly encourages us to keep moving, creating moments of intentional self-care allows both mind and body to soften and reset.

This summer, nurture your inner sunshine and let your confidence shine from the inside out.

Enjoy a summer of fun!

There’s something effortlessly magnetic about a visit to The Broadcaster Rooftop. Set within the iconic Television Centre in White City, the West London dining destination manages to strike that perfect balance between polished rooftop glamour and relaxed neighbourhood energy.

Visiting to experience the new spring/summer menu, we started exactly as every warmweather lunch should begin, with a beautifully chilled bottle of Maison Mirabeau ‘La Folie’ Sparkling Rosé from Provence. Crisp, delicate and wonderfully refreshing, it set the tone for the leisurely feast that followed as the late afternoon sun poured across the rooftop.

To start, warm house bread arrived with a fragrant leek and dill butter, shortly followed by tiger prawn scampi, perfectly crisp and golden with a punchy scotch bonnet ketchup and disco scallops beautifully caramelised and paired with sharp granny smith apple, crispy pancetta and earthy sage. The combination felt fresh, playful and perfectly balanced, bringing together richness, saltiness and acidity in every bite.

For something lighter, the chicken and avocado Caesar salad offered a refined take on the classic and the Sirloin steak was tender and exactly what you hope for from a premium cut of beef. Alongside these heritage tomatoes with pickled mustard and white balsamic added a vibrant burst of colour and acidity that cut through the tastebuds effortlessly.

There was an effortless ease to it all , the gentle hum of conversation, the clink of glasses, warm breezes drifting through the space and the unmistakable feeling of summer finally arriving in the city. Boffenigo

A Different Way to Experience Lake Garda at Boffenigo

There is a quieter way to experience Lake Garda, one that values stillness over spectacle and embraces the true luxury of time. Perched among the hills of Costermano with sweeping views across the lake, Boffenigo - The Golden Hour offers a more intimate and authentic escape, where elegance, nature, and wellbeing exist in effortless harmony.

More than simply a hotel, Boffenigo is designed as a contemporary retreat where guests are encouraged to slow down and reconnect with themselves. Here, luxury is not defined by excess, but by atmosphere: the softness of the light, the silence of the gardens, the changing colours of the lake, and the feeling of being entirely present in the moment. Every detail is carefully considered to create a sense of calm, guiding guests away from the pace of modern life towards something more conscious and restorative.

At the heart of the experience is the concept of the Golden Hour, that fleeting moment when the setting sun casts a warm glow across the lake and time seems to pause. As evening falls, the terrace and gardens transform into a natural stage where music drifts gently through the air and guests gather to watch the sunset unfold. It is less an event than a ritual, one that captures the essence of Boffenigo’s philosophy: luxury felt through emotion rather than display.

The hotel’s expansive parkland reflects this same approach to wellbeing. Olive trees, panoramic pathways, and peaceful corners invite moments of both movement and stillness, whether through open-air yoga, walks through the hills, or simply lying beside the outdoor pool overlooking the lake. Indoors, a heated thermal-water pool offers a quieter atmosphere dedicated to deep relaxation and balance.

Wellness continues within the Aurum Spa, conceived as a sensory sanctuary where guests can fully unwind. Saunas, Turkish baths, emotional showers, relaxation areas, and bespoke treatments using Comfort Zone products create an immersive journey focused on

renewal of both body and mind. For those drawn to more active pursuits, traditional and electric bicycles offer the freedom to explore the surrounding landscape at a slower pace, while an indoor gym completes the resort’s holistic wellness offering.

Dining at Terrazza del Boff reflects the same understated elegance. The panoramic restaurant combines Mediterranean flavours with a lighter, contemporary approach centred around seasonal ingredients and local produce. From slow breakfasts surrounded by greenery to sunset dinners overlooking the lake, each meal feels connected to the rhythm of the day and the beauty of the setting itself.

The hotel’s 80 rooms and suites continue this sense of quiet refinement, blending natural materials, soft tones, and abundant light. The suites offer an elevated experience, with panoramic terraces, private whirlpool tubs, and in the Spa Suite, a private wellness area complete with sauna and Turkish bath. Selected rooms also welcome pets, ensuring even fourlegged companions can enjoy the slower rhythm of a Lake Garda escape.

Boffenigo is not a destination designed to impress loudly. Instead, it offers something far rarer: the chance to pause, breathe, and rediscover time as your own once again.

English Glamour in The Lake District

There are few places in the Lake District that capture the romance of an English country-house escape quite like Langdale Chase. Set directly on the shores of Lake Windermere, the hotel gives the classic countryside fantasy an elegant lakeside twist: a beautifully restored Victorian mansion framed by manicured gardens, sweeping terraces that spill towards the water, and interiors that balance heritage grandeur with contemporary luxury. It is the kind of place where weekends immediately feel more cinematic than expected — where mornings begin with mist drifting across the lake and evenings end beside candlelit dinners and crackling fires.

Following a meticulous multi-million-pound restoration, Langdale Chase has re-emerged as one of the Lake District’s most refined retreats. The 30-bedroom hotel now holds an impressive five AA Stars alongside an AA Rosetteawarded Dining Room, reaffirming its place among the region’s leading luxury stays. Yet despite the elevated restoration, the hotel retains the warmth and character of a private country residence rather than an overly polished grand hotel.

Inside, richly textured interiors nod to the building’s Victorian roots while embracing a softer, contemporary elegance. Deep velvet furnishings, antique details, curated artwork and expansive windows ensure the surrounding landscape remains the true focal point throughout the property. Many rooms overlook the lake itself, offering uninterrupted views of Windermere’s ever-changing moods — from glassy still mornings to dramatic storm-lit evenings.

The setting alone is enough to lure guests away from busy city life, but Langdale Chase also offers one of the most immersive lake experiences in the region. With direct

access to Windermere, a private jetty and beautifully landscaped lakeside grounds, the hotel encourages guests to slow their pace and fully absorb the scenery. One of its standout experiences is Albatros, the hotel’s lovingly restored 1920s launch, available for both scheduled and private cruises across the lake. Gliding across Windermere aboard the elegant wooden vessel feels wonderfully nostalgic, evoking the glamour of a bygone era while showcasing some of the Lake District’s most spectacular views.

Dining remains a central part of the experience. The AA Rosette Dining Room focuses on refined British cuisine with a strong connection to Cumbria’s seasonal produce, combining polished service with panoramic lake views. Long lunches stretch effortlessly into afternoon cocktails on the terrace, while evening dinners feel quietly sophisticated rather than overly formal.

For those seeking the ultimate society-weekend escape, the hotel’s 1896 Boathouse delivers complete lakeside seclusion. Positioned directly above the water with its own private entrance and terrace, the suite feels entirely removed from the outside world. Inside, luxurious touches include a copper slipper bath perfectly placed to overlook the lake — ideal for long, indulgent evenings watching the changing light over Windermere.

Equal parts grand country house, lakeside retreat and modern luxury hideaway, Langdale Chase captures everything travellers long for in the perfect British escape: timeless elegance, exceptional scenery and the rare ability to make time slow down, if only for a weekend.

The Westin London City A Sophisticated City Escape at

Boasting an impressive riverside location and spectacular views over London's historic River Thames there is something instantly calming as you step into The Westin London City. The frantic pace of the capital seems to soften the moment the doors open and you’re welcomed into a lobby that feels both contemporary and cocooning. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, while sleek marble finishes, warm woods and subtle botanical touches create an atmosphere of understated luxury rather than overt opulence. What immediately draws the eye, however, is the extraordinary triple-height atrium ceiling, suspended with a bespoke undulating paper sculpture created by renowned Dutch artist Peter Gentenaar. Floating effortlessly above the lobby, the sculptural installation adds movement, artistry and a sense of serenity to the space, setting the tone for the calming experience that follows. It is elegant, polished and quietly confident, exactly what you want from a city retreat perched on the edge of the Thames.

On arrival, we headed straight for the Heavenly Spa and within minutes London felt a million miles away. The tranquil pool area is beautifully designed with soft lighting and a hushed ambience that encourages you to slow down from the moment you arrive. We spent a blissful afternoon lounging poolside before I indulged in one of the spa’s express facials, the perfect treatment for reviving tired city skin. Afterwards, wrapped in a robe and fully embracing the slower pace, we relaxed with a soothing herbal tea alongside bowls of dried fruits and nuts in the spa’s serene relaxation area. It was one of those rare moments where time genuinely seemed to stand still.

Eventually, we made our way up to our Signature King Room, where the calming aesthetic continued. The room struck the perfect balance between modern sophistication and comfort, with plush textures, warm neutral tones and ambient lighting creating an instantly restful feel. Large windows framed sweeping views across the capital, adding a sense of drama to the otherwise tranquil space. The signature Heavenly Bed lived up to its name, irresistibly inviting with crisp linens and cloud-like pillows that practically demanded an afternoon lie-down.

Waiting for us in the room was a beautifully presented platter of fresh fruit alongside delicate macarons, a thoughtful touch that certainly didn’t disappoint. After taking a moment to settle in, we headed to the Westin Club Lounge where floor-to-ceiling views across the London skyline became the backdrop to a relaxed afternoon of light snacks and refreshing drinks. Watching the city buzz below while tucked away in such a peaceful setting felt wonderfully indulgent.

Back in the room, we spent time unwinding and getting ready for the evening before returning to the Club Lounge for predinner wine and canapés. As dusk settled over the city, the atmosphere softly shifted, the lights of London began to twinkle against the skyline and the ambience was warm, relaxed and quietly sophisticated.

Cocktails at Hithe + Seek followed, undoubtedly one of the hotel’s standout spots. Overlooking the Thames and the illuminated city beyond, the bar exudes a chic yet intimate energy. The views alone are reason enough to visit, but expertly crafted cocktails make it difficult to leave. Sipping drinks while gazing across the river towards the glowing skyline felt undeniably cinematic.

Dinner was served in Mosaic, the hotel’s stylish dining destination that celebrates vibrant Mediterraneaninspired flavours. We began with a chilled glass of Côte de Provence while leisurely perusing the menu before deciding to share a selection of dishes. We settled on the mezze platter that features silky hummus, smoky ezme and creamy haydari, fresh, flavourful and ideal for sharing, while the prawn satay with peanut crumble and sweet chilli mayo delivered the perfect balance of sweetness, spice and crunch.

For mains, the pan-seared sea bass was beautifully delicate, served with vibrant seasonal greens and a light lemon dressing that enhanced the freshness of the dish perfectly. Alongside it, the fillet steak was expertly cooked, tender and richly flavoursome, a classic choice executed with precision and simplicity. Together, the dishes struck a perfect balance between lighter Mediterranean-inspired dining and indulgent comfort.

Not quite ready for the evening to end, we returned to Hithe + Seek for a final nightcap. The atmosphere at night feels entirely different, moodier, more seductive, with The Thames glittering outside the windows. It was the perfect way to round off the evening before retreating back to the sanctuary of our room for what turned out to be one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a hotel in quite some time.

The following morning began slowly with breakfast, and much like the rest of the stay, it struck the perfect balance between wellness and indulgence. Fresh pastries, seasonal fruits, perfectly prepared hot dishes and of course English breakfast tea made for an unhurried start to the day.

The Westin London City manages to achieve something many city hotels strive for but rarely master: it genuinely feels like an urban sanctuary. Sophisticated yet welcoming, luxurious without ever trying too hard, it offers the kind of restorative escape that leaves you feeling both recharged and reluctant to leave.
