In today’s fast-paced world, maintaining peace of mind is more challenging than ever. The constant barrage of news, social media, personal responsibilities, and societal expectations can leave us feeling overwhelmed and stressed. In such a world, the pursuit of inner peace is not just a luxury; it’s a necessity for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. The art of maintaining peace lies in understanding what disturbs US and taking proactive steps to protect your mental and emotional sanctity. So, let’s explore ways to maintain your peace, build resilience against external disturbances, and create a life rooted in tranquillity.
Importance
Inner peace is often described as a state of mental and emotional calmness, where one feels at ease regardless of external circumstances. Achieving this state is not about escaping the challenges of life, but rather learning to navigate them with clarity, resilience, and composure. When we cultivate inner peace, we are better equipped to handle adversity, make thoughtful decisions, and foster meaningful relationships. Peace of mind enables us to live in harmony with ourselves and the world around us.
Peace is an essential foundation for overall well-being. Studies have shown that chronic stress can lead to numerous health problems, including heart disease, anxiety, depression, and even a weakened immune system. On the contrary, peace of mind contributes to better sleep, increased energy, and a healthier body. Beyond the physical benefits, maintaining peace enhances our emotional intelligence, fostering empathy, and reducing tendencies toward anger, jealousy, or resentment.
Before you can effectively protect your peace, it’s essential to identify the factors that disturb it. External stressors, such as work pressures, financial struggles, or relationship issues, are often the first things that come to mind. However, internal factors can be just as disruptive to inner tranquillity. These include negative thought patterns, self-doubt, and unresolved emotional wounds such as; Overwhelm and Overload: The constant juggling of tasks, whether personal or professional, can create a sense of chaos.
Negative Emotions: Feelings of anger, fear, anxiety, and sadness can cloud your mind and prevent you from thinking clearly or finding peace..
Comparison and Self-Doubt: In the age of social media, it's easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. This constant comparison can fuel feelings of inadequacy, envy, and insecurity, which can erode your sense of peace.
Unhealthy Relationships: People in our lives—whether family members, friends, or colleagues—can either uplift or drain us. Toxic relationships can be a major source of inner conflict, leaving you feeling depleted and unsettled.
Uncertainty and Fear of the Future: Anxiety about the unknown or the future can disrupt peace. Worrying about what might happen can prevent you from enjoying the present moment.
Recognising these triggers allows you to take proactive steps toward protecting your peace. Once you are aware of what disrupts your tranquillity, you can begin to practice strategies for mitigating these disturbances.
There are many ways in which we can incorporate ways to help us maintain peace and include:
Mindfulness and Meditation: Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment, without judgment or distraction. It helps train the mind to focus on the here and now, rather than dwelling on past mistakes or future uncertainties. Meditation, as a tool of mindfulness, allows you to clear your mind, centre yourself, and cultivate a sense of inner calm.
Setting Boundaries: Establishing clear boundaries is vital for protecting your peace. This could involve setting limits with people who drain your energy or saying no to commitments that add unnecessary stress to your life. Boundaries help you prioritise your well-being and protect your time and emotional energy.
Simplifying Your Life: A cluttered physical environment can lead to a cluttered mind. Simplifying your space, whether it’s decluttering your home, organising your workspace, or reducing distractions can all create a peaceful atmosphere.
Engaging in Physical Activity: Exercise is not only good for physical health, but it also plays a crucial role in mental well-being. Regular physical activity releases endorphins, the body's natural mood boosters, which can help alleviate stress and improve your overall outlook.
Cultivating Gratitude: Gratitude has the power to shift your perspective and bring peace into your life. Focusing on the positive aspects of your life, rather than what’s missing or going wrong, can help you feel more content and at peace.
Spiritual Practices: For many, spirituality provides a sense of peace that transcends the material world. Whether it’s through prayer, connection with nature, or participating in religious practices, spiritual beliefs can offer comfort, strength, and perspective.
Seeking Professional Help: Sometimes, maintaining peace requires external support. A therapist or counsellor can help you address unresolved issues, process emotions, and develop coping strategies for dealing with stress.
Limit Exposure to Negative Influences: In today’s digital age, constant exposure to negative news, social media comparisons, and toxic interactions can disrupt your peace. It's important to be mindful of what you consume. Limit your time on social media, curate your news sources, and take breaks from technology. Instead, immerse yourself in positive, uplifting
content, whether it’s a book, a podcast, or a hobby that brings you joy.
Practice Forgiveness: Holding on to grudges and resentment only creates emotional baggage that weighs you down. Practicing forgiveness—whether it’s forgiving others or yourself—can free your heart and mind from the past. Letting go of old hurts can create space for healing and peace to take root.
Seeking Professional Help: Sometimes, maintaining peace requires external support. A therapist or counsellor can help you address unresolved issues, process emotions, and develop coping strategies for dealing with stress, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a great way to retrain your brain www.wavesofchangehypnotherapy.com
By understanding what disrupts your peace and actively engaging in practices that foster tranquillity, you can protect your mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

P.Louise Perfection

Whether it’s the P.Louise Look At That Peach Bundle (£40, Everything you need for radiant skin, juicy lips, and a peach-perfect glow), P.Louise Hair To The Throne Bundle (£25, a premium collection of shampoos and conditioners designed to elevate your hair care routine) or the P.Louise Secure the Bag Collection (£90, is designed to elevate your beauty routine with a full range of products, each infused with the vibrant flavours, energy, and confidence that fans of P.Louise know and love), the only problem you’ll have is what bundle will you choose?
The start of Spring is the perfect time to refresh, reset and commit to healthier habits that improve your wellbeing. Although often neglected, sleep is one of the most important contributors to both physical and mental health, playing a crucial role in recovery and renewal. Therefore ensuring you get a good quality, undisturbed night’s sleep is key to boosting your overall well-being.
Establish a Consistent Sleep Schedule - Aim to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, including weekends. This helps regulate your body's internal clock.
Create a Relaxing Bedtime Routine - Engage in calming activities before bed, such as reading, gentle stretching, or listening to soft music. Avoid stimulating activities, screens, or bright lights.
Optimise Your Sleep Environment - Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet. Consider using blackout curtains, a white noise machine, or earplugs if necessary. Ensure your mattress and pillows are comfortable.
Limit Exposure to Screens - Reduce exposure to screens (phones, computers, TVs) at least one hour before bed. The blue light emitted can interfere with melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep.
Be Mindful of Food and Drink - Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, and alcohol close to bedtime.
While alcohol may make you feel sleepy initially, it can disrupt your sleep cycle later in the night.
Engage in Regular Physical Activity - Include physical exercise in your daily routine but try not to exercise too close to bedtime. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise during the day.
Manage Stress and Anxiety - Incorporate relaxation techniques like mindfulness, meditation, or deep breathing exercises to reduce stress levels that can interfere with sleep.
Limit Naps - If you take naps, aim for a short duration (20-30 minutes) and avoid napping late in the afternoon. Long or late naps can disrupt your night-time sleep.
Get Natural Light Exposure - During the day, try to get outside and expose yourself to natural light. This helps regulate your circadian rhythm and improves sleep quality.
By incorporating these healthy sleep habits into your routine, you can enhance your overall sleep quality, leading to better physical and mental health. If it all sounds a little too overwhelming, start small and gradually implement changes rather than overhauling your entire routine at once. Be Patient as it may take time for your body to adjust to a new sleep schedule or habits and listen to your body and how the different habits affect your sleep quality and make adjustments that suit your lifestyle.

With summer just around the corner, we’re all eagerly planning our holidays and weekend breaks away in the sunshine. However, for those who experience flight anxiety, the thought of boarding a plane can cast a shadow over your travel plans.
From relaxation techniques to strategic seating choices, we spoke to the experts at Brown’s CBD, who have compiled five incredible tips to help tackle flight anxiety to help you enjoy a stress-free journey.
Master the 5-4-3-2-1 technique
One of the most effective ways to manage anxiety in any situation, including during a flight, is the 5-4-32-1 grounding technique. This method helps to refocus your mind and calm your nerves by engaging your senses. Here's how it works:
5 - Look for five things you can see. Note details, such as the pattern on the seat in front of you or the colour of the cabin.
4 - Find four things you can touch. Feel the texture of your seat, the in-flight magazine, or even your clothing.
3 - Listen for three different sounds. This could be the hum of the engine, the chatter of passengers, or the announcements over the intercom.
2 - Identify two things you can smell. Although this can sometimes be more challenging on a plane, you might notice the scent of food or your hand lotion.
1 - Focus on one thing you can taste. This could be the food you're eating, or the lasting taste of chewing gum or mints.
By actively engaging the senses, the 5-4-3-2-1 technique helps redirect the mind away from anxiety-provoking thoughts and towards the present moment. This method of sensory focus is known to reduce the intensity of the anxiety response by interrupting the cycle of worry and rumination.
Where you sit on a plane can significantly impact your comfort level, especially if turbulence triggers your anxiety. To help reduce anxiety, it’s recommended to choose a seat over the wings, as this part of the plane typically experiences less turbulence compared to the front or rear sections. Additionally, sitting over the wings can provide a more balanced ride, which can help soothe frayed nerves.
Time your meals wisely
Eating at the right time can play a crucial role in managing flight anxiety. To help calm your nerves, it is recommended to avoid meals during the flight and instead eat before or after your journey. Eating before a flight can help you feel more settled and reduce the risk of an upset stomach due to nerves.
Getting some rest during your flight will help to alleviate anxiety and make the duration of the journey feel much shorter. Bring a travel pillow or blanket, comfort is a key component in creating a sleep-conductive environment. Purchasing a supportive neck pillow and a cosy blanket can make a significant difference when flying.
Use earbuds or noise-cancelling headphones which will block out the ambient noises of the plane and create a peaceful environment. An eye mask can help you block out light and fall asleep more easily.
Incorporate relaxation techniques
Incorporating relaxation techniques into your preflight and in-flight routine can help keep anxiety at bay. There are meditation apps such as Calm or Headspace that offer guided meditations, specifically designed to help ease travel anxiety.
By experimenting with various techniques, you can discover what works best, and with practice and perseverance you can conquer your flight anxiety and travel with a newfound sense of calm and confidence.

Swan Brand, has unveiled its brand-new Air Fryer (£99, www.shop.swan-brand.co.uk) designed to revolutionise the way you cook. It has a large total cooking capacity of 11L, comprising two 5.5 litre baskets, each big enough to cook a whole chicken and make enough portions for a family of 8. Unlike standard dual basket Air Fryers, the baskets are stacked on top of each other, taking up 30% less worktop space and perfect for a fuss-free roast
Ingredients
200g tagliatelle (or other long pasta)
2 tsp olive oil
2 jarred anchovies, chopped
1 clove garlic, thinly sliced
¼ tsp chili flakes
400g cherry tomatoes, halved
200g shredded leftover lamb shoulder
¼ jar Opies Mini Silverskin Onions
¼ jar Opies capers (deep-fried for garnish)
Soft herbs (such as parsley, basil, or mint) for serving
20g Parmigiano Reggiano, finely grated
easy
Method
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the tagliatelle for the shortest time recommended on the package to ensure it remains al dente. While the pasta cooks, heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Deep-fry the capers until they open up and become crispy. Drain on a paper towel and set aside.
Heat 2 tsp olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add the chopped anchovies, sliced garlic, chili flakes, and Opies Mini Silverskin Onions. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the halved cherry tomatoes and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes blister and soften.
Stir in the shredded leftover lamb shoulder. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lamb is heated through.
Using tongs, transfer the cooked pasta directly from the pot to the sauce. Add a splash of pasta cooking water to loosen the sauce and coat the pasta evenly. Mix well to combine.
Drizzle with a little olive oil and scatter with soft herbs. Top with the grated Parmigiano Reggiano and crispy capers. Serve immediately

An easy one-tray Easter meal that’s packed with flavours that’ll delight your guests
Ingredients
1.5kg lamb shoulder joint
50g anchovies in oil
2 flat cloves garlic, sliced
2 sprigs rosemary
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
1kg new potatoes
1 jar Opies Silver Skin Onions with Red Wine Vinegar
325g broad beans
300g peas
175ml white wine
100g feta cheese
Fresh mint leaves, chopped
Method
Pre-heat the oven to 170°C / 150°C fan / Gas 3. Place the lamb in a roasting tin and using a knife, pierce the shoulder all over. Drain the anchovies and cut each fillet into three, then stuff a piece inside each hole along with a sliver of garlic and a few leaves of rosemary.
Season the lamb generously all over and drizzle with oil, then cover with foil and place in the oven for 2 hours. Meanwhile halve the new potatoes and silver skin onions.
Add the potatoes to the lamb tray, turn the oven up to 200°C / 180°C fan / Gas 6 and roast for 30 minutes until starting to brown. Next add the broad beans, peas, white wine and silver skin onions and return to the oven for a further half an hour.
Remove from the oven, crumble the feta cheese over, scatter over the mint and serve.
Recipe from www.bennettopie.com
A decadent twist on a classic pudding and a great way to use up any excess hot cross buns this Easter.
Method
Take a large oven dish that will fit 6 hot cross buns comfortably and arrange the sliced hot cross buns in the dish.
Ingredients
6 hot cross buns, sliced into 4
3 large eggs
300ml whipping cream
300ml milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
75g golden caster sugar
3 balls of Opies Stem Ginger, finely chopped, syrup reserved
3 tbsp Carnation caramel sauce
Fresh warm custard
In a large bowl whisk together the eggs, whipping cream, milk, vanilla extract, caster sugar and 2 tablespoons of the reserved stem ginger syrup. Pour the batter evenly over the hot cross buns. Scatter over the finely chopped stem ginger, cover and leave in the fridge for a couple of hours to allow the hot cross buns to absorb the mixture. You could also leave it overnight.
Pre-heat the oven to 190°C / 170°C fan / gas 3. Drizzle over half of the carnation caramel sauce and cook in the oven for about 30-35 minutes, until the custard is set but still retaining a slight wobble. Leave to cool slightly before serving with fresh custard and a little drizzle of caramel sauce.

The National Theatre’s global smash-hit production of War Horse, the unforgettable theatrical event based on Michael Morpurgo’s beloved novel, will embark on a major 18-month UK Tour visiting Milton Keynes Theatre this April.
War Horse tells the remarkable story of a young boy called Albert and his horse Joey, set against the backdrop of the First World War. This powerfully moving and imaginative drama is a show of phenomenal inventiveness, filled with stirring music and songs, featuring ground-breaking puppetry work by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, which brings breathing, galloping, charging, horses to thrilling life on stage and has inspired a generation of theatre-makers since its premiere in 2007.
At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. Albert, who remained on his parents’ Devon farm, cannot forget Joey. Though still not old enough to enlist he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.
This tour of War Horse marks 110 years since the start of the First World War and follows the 40th anniversary of the publication of Michael Morpurgo’s global best-selling novel, which has now sold over 35 million copies worldwide and in 37 different languages.
War Horse, adapted by Nick Stafford and originally directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, has become the most successful play in the history of the National Theatre, winning more than 25 major awards and has been seen by over 8.3 million people worldwide. This all-new tour is co-produced with Michael Harrison, Fiery Angel, and Playing Field.
Director, Tom Morris said, “It is a huge privilege to be invited to revisit War Horse and to share this powerful story once more with audiences around the country. Michael Morpurgo’s brilliant idea, to explore the crushing violence of war through the experience of a horse, makes his story as powerful and resonant today as it has ever been. And in this time of increasing commercialism in theatre, it’s worth remembering that the production which carried War Horse to an international audience was a wild experiment, developed through workshops at the National Theatre Studio, the unique theatre laboratory where ground-breaking hits from Coram Boy and London Road to The Witches were devised. It has been an enormous thrill to return there in recent months to reunite Adrian Kohler’s magnificent puppets with designer Rae Smith, composer Adrian Sutton and other members of the original cast and creative team to start the process of bringing Joey back to the stage.”
War Horse received its world premiere on 9 October 2007 at the National Theatre, where it played for two seasons before opening at the New London Theatre in March 2009. Since then, War Horse has been seen in 97 cities in 14 countries, including productions on Broadway, in Toronto and Berlin, with touring productions in the UK and Ireland, North America, the Netherlands and Belgium.
War Horse comes to Milton Keynes Theatre from Tuesday 22 April - Saturday 3 May 2025.
Tickets are available from www.atgtickets.com/MiltonKeynes

Want to treat yourself or someone special to something different, then a personalised Chauffeur-by-the-hour experience around London with Blacklane is the perfect experience. Providing up to six hours of uninterrupted, chauffeur-driven luxury, Blacklane ensures guests fully immerse themselves in quality time with their favourite person.
Blacklane is a luxurious personalised Chauffeur service that is impeccable from start to finish. Creating outstanding experiences for discerning guests by delivering perfect experiences around the world. Whether it’s an airport transfer, long-distance city-to-city ride, shopping trip, a visit to the theatre, cocktail party or business meeting, Blacklane has exactly what you need, when you need it.
We decided to try one of their experiences for ourselves and WOW, we were not disappointed.
Our Chauffeur met us at St. Pancras (you can choose where you’re picked up from) and from the minute we walked out of the station we were treated like royalty. The car was the epitome of luxury, and nothing was too much trouble, whether it was the cars temperature, our favourite radio station, sparkling or still water the choice was ours – all we had to do was sit back and enjoy the ride.
This experience can be personalised to whatever you wish. Whether it’s accessing the city's most iconic shopping destinations, refuelling with an afternoon tea at one of London’s finest hotels, arriving for a leisurely stroll through a gallery, or even squeezing a relaxing spa trip into your day. The day is about you and what you want.
We stopped for coffee and to refuel before we were whisked through London, sitting back people watching, experiencing iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park, as well as hidden gems that we never knew existed all from the comfort of our luxury car, and at any time if we wanted to stop we just had to say to our Chauffeur, it was the most perfect experience combining time and luxury with someone special.
Would it even be a day in London if you didn’t enjoy an afternoon tea? We chose The Royal Lancaster Hotel London for a luxury indulgence. Our Blacklane Chauffeur dropped us directly at the door opening the car doors for us and ensuring we were all ok before leaving and telling us to just drop him a message when we were ready to be collected.
The afternoon tea was a delight, a floral-inspired twist on a quintessentially British tradition, served of course with champagne. The ultimate Mother’s Day treat without the worry of tubes or ubers, knowing we could take as long savouring the whole experience as we wanted.
Suitably relaxed and having taken our time, our Chauffeur was waiting outside, door open ready to take us to our next destination. The experience is 6 hours and although we thought about visiting a gallery, we didn’t really have time, so we opted instead for a quick meander around Liberty, a couple of purchases later and we got back in our waiting car ready to be taken back to St Pancras and the end of what had been a truly memorable day that was faultless.
Blacklane’s Chauffeur-by-the-hour experience brings all your special moments together without the stress of navigating the city or trying to plan multiple journeys. You can enjoy up to six hours of a flexible, private chauffeur-driven service, allowing you to tailor your day to your exact preferences. Chauffeurs will also assist with shopping bags, provide expert recommendations, and ensure every detail is taken care of.
