AERO ATL GREENWAY PLAN and "FINDING THE FLINT" The AeroATL Greenway Plan is led by the Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance (Alliance) and the Aerotropolis Atlanta AACIDs (CIDs). This project is funded by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) under a 2017 grant, with matching support from the Alliance, the CIDs, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA), East Point, College Park, Hapeville, Forest Park, Fulton County, and Clayton County.

Sizemore Group was retained by the Alliance and the CID to lead the master planning process on this project.

The AeroATL Greenway Plan provides a visionary framework for trail connectivity across the Aerotropolis region. The study area includes H-JAIA and the surrounding cities of East Point, Hapeville, Forest Park, College Park, South Fulton and portions of Fulton County and Clayton County, totaling approximately 48,000 acres.

This study integrates previous plans and initiatives and incorporates the current needs and opportunities identified by local representatives of the cities and counties listed above, key stakeholders, and the general public. The result is a true multi-modal network that will provide area residents, visitors, and workers with safe and enjoyable connectivity around the world’s busiest airport.

Hannah Palmer, of Finding the Flint was recently featured on the AERO ATL Podcast. Shannon James, President & CEO of Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance shared in the discussion of the conservation of creeks and rivers in the Aerotropolis from East Point to Florida flowing under HartsfieldJackson Atlanta International Airport. Finding the Flint was a project created by American Rivers, The Conservation Fund, and the Atlanta Regional Commission. All three organizations have been leading initiatives to restore rivers and revitalize communities in metro Atlanta. Finding the Flint builds off years of research, planning, coalition building, and big ideas for the Flint's headwaters in the airport area.

GA ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND AWARENESS SYMPOSIUM Gerald McDowell, along with several Mayors from the Aerotropolis, including: Mayor William Edwards of the City of South Fulton, Mayor Alan Hallman of the City of Hapeville, Mayor Jack Longino of College Park and Mayor Tom Reed of Chattahoochee Hills will participate in an Environmental Symposium. This event is sponsored by Golden Gate Health Care Resources, Inc. and State Representative Debra Bazemore. The event will take place on April 22, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. CHAT N CHEW CHILI COOK OFF Our Chat N Chew was quite filling! Many of the attendees were proud to learn of the Aerotropolis area for the first time and the impact of both the Alliance and the CIDs. BOARD MEETINGS Our Aerotropolis CIDs Board Meetings take place the 2nd Thursday of each Month! We honored Airport West Board Member Joshua Wartham at our most recent meeting. This was his last Board Meeting with us and we are truly grateful for his guidance and support. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on Thursday, April 11th beginning at 12:00 PM.

THE SMART CORRIDOR We had a great turn out for our SMART Corridor Public Meeting on Thursday, March 14th. In support of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC)’s Livable Centers Initiative Program, the Aerotropolis Atlanta Community Improvement Districts (AACIDs) and their consultants, Modern Mobility Partners and KCI Technologies, Inc. are leading the Virginia Avenue Smart Corridor Study. The project limits along the Virginia Avenue Corridor are from US 29/Main Street in College Park on the west end to South Central Avenue in Hapeville on the east end.

Next PUBLIC MEETING JULY 2019

The AACIDs are interested in finding ways to improve safety, mobility, and walkability in the study area using new technology. While our first meeting was quite a success, we will conduct a second meeting in July to continue to promote awareness of the study and to understand the needs, challenges, and opportunities along the corridor.

Gateway Center are changing the landscape across Metro Atlanta, College Park and Georgia. As College Park General Contractor spend money to buy the materials, contractors must understand their state sales and use tax obligation.

Contractor Cannot Use Customer’s Tax-Exemption Certificate. (College Park) A property owner that is licensed to buy items tax-free cannot loan out or assign its tax-exemption certificate to a contractor for use in buying materials for a project. Under Georgia law, the contractor may not use a tax-exemption certificate to buy materials under any circumstances, even as an agent of the exempt property owner.
