AND THE AWARDS GOES TO.... We are proud to share that the Final Report for the Virginia Avenue Smart Corridor has been completed. The Virginia Avenue Smart Corridor Study was a study led by the Aerotropolis Atlanta CIDs and our consultants, Modern Mobility Partners and KCI Technologies, Inc. The purpose of the study was to evaluate technology projects and strategies to address mobility, walkability, and safety along the 2-mile corridor between US 29/Main St. and S. Central Ave.

Our efforts were quite successful and were recently recognized for its efforts. The study WON the Georgia Planning Association (GPA) 2019 Outstanding Initiative Award!  Kirsten Mote and Kelli Kemp accepted the award on behalf of the AACIDs and Modern Mobility Partners (and subconsultant KCI Technologies) at the GPA Conference Awards Banquet

DIVERGING DIAMOND INTERCHANGE UPDATE On Thursday, October 3rd the City of East Point hosted a DDI Town Hall at the East Point Annex building. Representatives from the Georgia Department of Transportation offered valuable insight on the status of the project as well as updates on the anticipated completion date which is still on target for this fall! Click the video to watch a recap of the meeting and additional information on events in the City of East Point.

THE ATL AIRPORT CHAMBER SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD On October 17th the AACIDs served as a Lunch Sponsor for the ATL Airport Chamber's Annual Meeting. We are honored and grateful to be recognized as their Small Business of the Year. The Aerotropolis CIDs is only as good as its leader, and Gerald McDowell epitomizes the qualities that it takes for this organization to grow, prosper and raise the collective value of communities in the Aerotropolis Atlanta area.

WELCOME ALL ROAD PUBLIC INFORMATION OPEN HOUSE We held a Public Information Open House on Thursday, October 24th to share details about the proposed Welcome All Road and Welcome All Road Connector Intersection Project. Our goal was two-fold 1) provide information on the proposed project and 2) provide an opportunity for the public to give us comments on the proposed project. COUNCIL FOR QUALITY GROWTH'S MONTHLY MEETING We are always proud to host the Council for Quality Growth South Metro Advisory Meetings. This month we were honored to have representatives from South Fulton to showcase updates, stats and exciting opportunities to live, work and play in this city. We are grateful to Odie Donald, City Manager of the City of South and Councilwoman Dr. Catherine Foster Roswell representing District 1 for their time, commitment and value insight.

IT'S HARD TO SAY GOOD-BYE While we are sad to see her go, we are so proud to support new endeavors for Kirsten Mote. Kirsten will be joining Modern Mobility Partners as their new Smart Cities Program Manager/Senior Project Manager.  She will primarily focus on program and project management, especially those related to new and emerging technologies, and transportation planning project support.  She will lead transportation planning and technical activities related to all modes and expects to expand and lead a Smart City practices from planning to implementation to program management. Congratulations to you Kirsten! We wish you much success!

WE WELCOME OUR NEWEST TEAM MEMBER Krystal Harris has graciously accepted the role of our Program Director for Aerotropolis Atlanta CIDs. Krystal was the recent Asset Program Manager at the Georgia Department of Transportation. She served at GDOT for the last 12 years in various roles. While at GDOT, she focused on working in the most feasible way while meeting the goals and objectives of the Department. "This means that sometimes change is good. What once worked before may not be the case today," Krystal shares. Krystal is versatile and goal-oriented and strives to achieve overall company goals and exceed customer expectations. She has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Welcome aboard Krystal!
