$1.5M to encourage local landscape enhancement By David Lee LOCAL schools, community groups and other organisations are being encouraged to apply to gain part of the Victorian Coalition Government’s $1.5M Landscape Enhancement Grants, which has been released in a bid to protect and restore natural environmental areas. Groups are able to apply for up to $50,000 to tackle year-long projects which are locallybased, focused on practical, on-ground measures and that address local needs. New plan offered as investment program recommences By David Lee LOCAL residents, growers and businesses alike let out a sigh of relief last week, when Coca- Cola A matil (CC A) announced it would be recommencing its planned $78M investment into Shepparton’s SPC plant, which was once again backed by
the Victorian Coalition Government, who confirmed it would continue to go ahead with its promise of $22M. With works having already commenced on the $100M Shepparton plant’s upgrade, the investment program was put on hold after Greater Shepparton City Council
voted to not close Andrew Fairley Avenue, which prompted a redesign of CCA’s original expansion plans that would have strengthened the site’s logistics, incorporated extensive construction works and seen an innovative expansion of the factory. Continued on page 19
