“For me, personally, I just love what it does for women, in terms of health benefits and confidence,” Danni shared. “We all come in different shapes and sizes, and we're all in different parts of our lives. And so, we really need to appreciate who's standing in front of us.”

FROM DAIRY FARMER TO PARLIAMENTARIAN, a journey inspirationof

A message from Rikkie-Lee Tyrrell MP, State Member for Northern Victoria

I FEEL privileged to be a part of The Adviser’s Inspirational Women of the Goulburn Valley. As I reflect on my first year in the Victorian Parliament as the Member for Northern Victoria Region, I am proud that a dairy farmer from Invergordon can be elected by her constituents to represent them in state politics.

The road to become an elected member of State Parliament has been a long one with many ups and downs. Like everyone, I have faced adversity and setbacks along the way and have been

lucky to have always had the support of my husband and two children.

As is the case with all working mothers, I juggle my busy working life with the demands of my family. It is not easy, and I acknowledge the sacrifices that all working mums make as they juggle their careers with their responsibilities at home.

Women make up exactly 50 per cent of the Victorian Parliament and I am proud to be a part of such a genderdiverse workplace. I believe each and every woman is inspirational in their own right and I am humbled to be the voice of not just women but everyone within the Northern Victoria Region.

“Women make up exactly 50 per cent of the Victorian Parliament and I am proud to be a part of such a genderdiverse workplace.”
In my role I am lucky to meet many inspirational women across a range of industries and professions and it is wonderful to see the many great things being achieved.

Breaking BOLTS AND BIASES

IN THE grease-stained, traditionally male-dominated world of mechanical and equipment sales, Ultimate Fasteners is breaking stereotypes with its diverse workforce, showing that gender has no bearing on success.

Kaylene McCormick has worked at Ultimate Fasteners the longest, providing administrative and accounting support for seven years. For Kaylene, navigating male-dominated spaces is second nature. With over 21 years of experience, spanning irrigation and banking, she's seen it all.

Sophie Dervish, who often works behind the counter, echoes Kaylene's sentiments. With a background in sales and administration, she effortlessly earns respect from clients, proving her capabilities one interaction at a time.

“Some clients still request a male representative, but I quickly show them what I’m capable of. It’s about earning respect, one satisfied customer at a time”
Sophie Dervish

“When I worked in banking, it was very femaleoriented,” she said. “Humour is key. You have to learn to roll with the punches, especially when dealing with some men who have set ways."

“Some clients still request a male representative," she shared, "But I quickly show them what I'm capable of. It's about earning respect, one satisfied customer at a time."

Carole Moore, with over 26 years in engineering and five looking after accounts payable and receivable at Ultimate Fasteners, has seen workplace dynamics shift during her working life.

While acknowledging there have been challenges for women, particularly in male-oriented workplaces, she feels optimistic about progress and her career.

“There was a time women missed out on

roles because men thought they’d be ‘too distracting’ in the workplace, fortunately that mentality has shifted,” Carole said. These are not just individual stories, they paint a broader picture of an industry in flux. While the customer base at Ultimate Fasteners leans towards men, Sophie points

out that a growing number of female buyers are entering the space. This shift, coupled with the experiences and voices of women like Sophie, Kaylene and Carole at Ultimate Fasteners underscores the crucial role women play in the industry's success.

REPRESENT A REGION OF inspirational women

A message from Kim O’Keeffe MP, State Member for Shepparton District OVER the years, I have been encouraged, inspired, and supported by many wonderful women, not only in our community but also from afar.

The power of encouragement, acknowledgment, and support speaks volumes.

I am often humbled by the kindness and encouragement I receive, sometimes from women I don't even know, whether through social media or other ways of connection.

But it is the women closest to me who are always there for me – my two daughters, sisters, nieces, and girlfriends, all of whom I turn to and lean on. I could not imagine my journey so far without their support.

In my former business life, where I had a salon and training school, which I ran for almost 28 years, it was mostly women who supported my business. When I had my business, I experienced firsthand the difference you could make and the impact and influence you could have on the future of those around you, whether through a conversation, a connection, advice, or guidance. Many visited my salon or participated in various professional training programs over the years, which often led to varied opportunities, personal growth, and success.

Being part of the successful journeys of other women has given me great joy.

I hope my journey so far inspires others to achieve the things in life they aspire to. Our journeys are different, as are what we want to achieve in life. My greatest wish is to encourage other women to look at the opportunities and possibilities of whatever it is that they aspire to or hope to achieve.

From a small, long-term business owner, followed by six years in Local Government, including almost four years as Mayor, and now in my current role as the State Member of Parliament for the Shepparton District, it has been a transition of change, opportunity, and personal growth. It has also been challenging and, at times, scary to take that leap of faith out of my comfort zone.

Looking back on my journey, I never dreamed that I would end up in politics, but my experiences, the want to serve the community, and the belief in me from other inspiring women have led me here. The community is also here with me on this journey. They elected

me to represent them, and I take that with the highest of gratitude, respect, and responsibility.

When I walk up the stairs of Parliament House, I walk through those doors representing the people of my electorate. I feel incredibly proud to represent the region and have such a strong sense of responsibility that I will never take for granted. As a leader in the community, I want to encourage other women also to aspire to be leaders in their communities. We have local council elections at

the end of this year, and we need more women in politics. But there are many ways that you can make a difference and show leadership. I want to acknowledge the incredible women out there and encourage you to mentor and be a strong role model to others. You never know what that might mean to someone, or if it's time for a change, maybe take that leap of faith –you never know where that might lead you.

Happy International Women's Day!

BEAUTY GOES beyond the skin

HEALTH and appearance are deeply intertwined, evolving throughout our lives. Recognising this, nurse practitioners Kate Moroney and Tara Jones established Fresh You, aiming to deliver safe cosmetic injectable treatments in regional Victoria.

As two of around 2,000 nurse practitioners in Australia, Kate and Tara can diagnose and treat a variety of health conditions. While the allure of diminishing wrinkles initially draws many to Fresh You, Tara said that underlying health factors often contribute to cosmetic concerns.

“Clients frequently present with skin or ageing worries, but we’ve discovered a pattern of underlying issues, such as gut health or hormonal imbalances, exacerbating these concerns,” she explained.

"As nurse practitioners, we've gained extensive healthcare knowledge and hospital experience, which we maintain part-time alongside managing Fresh You.”

The duo recognises the intricate interplay between hormonal fluctuations, menopause and skin concerns – a nexus where their roles as nurse practitioners prove invaluable.

"Hormonal imbalances can manifest in skin issues, and as nurse practitioners, we facilitate referrals for appropriate medical intervention," Kate said.

Navigating women's health often entails challenges in finding tailored medical support, a reality Fresh You endeavours to address.

Tara said, "Conversations surrounding appearance can feel more comfortable than

discussions about chronic conditions, but our expertise enables us to guide individuals toward holistic wellness," she said.

In addition to anti-ageing treatments, Fresh You can assist with other skin concerns, teeth grinding, hay fever and weight loss, all guided by a genuine desire to enrich health, wellness and confidence.

Krystal bought her first Subway franchise over six years ago at a time when many in her position would have been taking it easy. Six years later, with her fourth Subway franchise added to her menu last year, she is still doing great work in the community.

Krystal used her success to give back to the community by supporting local football, netball, basketball, soccer, little athletics and golf clubs with sports awards and donations in Mooroopna, Shepparton and Nathalia. As well as catering for AFL Vic and other events.
