CHARITY PROGRAM RUN4ROME RUNS WITH 15 ASSOCIATIONS

On Sunday 19th March along with Acea Rome Rome The Marathon there is Run4Rome solidary relay. 15 associations joining the solidary system.

THE ASSOCIATIONS – To submit and participate means to support the following realities and their projects, described below: Lorenzo’s Star by Onlus, Sport City Foundation, Airc, Sport Senza Frontiere Onlus, Ey Foundation, Matteo’s World Onlus, Rotary District 2080, Alzheimer Marathon Foundation, Banco Alimentare Roma, Operation Smile Italia Ets Foundation, Telethon ETS Foundation, WWF, Associazione Italiana Progeria Sammy Basso Aps Onlus, Aned e Special Olympics Italia.

Onlus was born at the end of 2012 at the wish of Lorenzo Fabbri’s parents, suddenly passed away in the night of 29th September of the same year after a fatal arrhythmia, caused by an arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, a pathology unknown to everyone in the family. In fact, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy is a genetic degenerative pathology that has no cure at the moment, that is very often asymptomatic, and it is one of the most common causes of sudden death of youngsters; in Italy, about 4 youngsters every 100000 citizens are affected by it every year. To raise awareness among families on the importance of prevention when talking about heart diseases with a focus on dangerous arrhythmias at young ages, Lorenzo’s Star by Onlus conducts ECG screening campaigns in preschools, elementary and middle schools, in partnership with Baby Jesus Pediatric hospital and Niguarda hospital; until today over 20000 children and teenagers have done an electrocardiograms, free at no cost for families, thanks to the funds allocated by Onlus. Donations are included in this project too: of medical equipment such as electrocardiographs and holters to hospitals; defibrillators to schools. WWF Italia will run Tun4Rome solidary relay for Climate and Nature with 25 teams who will wear the Panda shaped logo to focus the attention on urgent need to counteract global warming and protecting nature by building a new harmonic relationship with the Planet, that provides us with the resources that are necessary to life, and to show that climate crisis and biodiversity loss are two sides of a coin. Uno of the most important projects by Rotary International is the fight against poliomyelitis, supported by PolioPlus project, born in 1985. It generated from the solidary sport event Alzheimer Marathon, with the aim of establishing and spreading the culture of human rights of people who suffer from dementia, improving their lives and the lives of their families, merging the topics of cure and support and those of prevention and scientific research. From 1965 fighting with courage against cancer, AIRC Foundation for cancer research supports innovative scientific projects thanks to constant and transparent fund raising, spreads scientific information, promotes the culture of prevention in houses, squares and schools. It can count on 4 million and a half supporters, 20 thousands volunteers and 17 regional committees that guarantee that over 5000 researchers – 62% of which are women and 55% under 40 – have the necessary resources to bring the results from the laboratories to the patients as fast as possible. Operation Smile Italia Ets Foundation

It is part of an international Organisation that cures children and adults who were born with facial deformities such as labiopalatoschisis, trains local medical staff, supports research activities on pathologies, provides patients and their families with care thanks to highly specialized staff, thousands of volunteer doctors and students from all over the world, it promotes sensibilization and fund raising initiatives. Moreover, it collaborates with other non profit organizations, with governments and local sanitary systems in order to guarantee every child and person’s right to have access to free, secure and quality cures, anywhere in the world. Theleton Foundation

One of the main Italian biomedical charities. For over 30 years it has been working every day in order to find new cures against rare genetic diseases and to make them affordable for patients, to diagnose unknown pathologies and to give back a concrete hope for life to those who have to deal with these pathologies, that in 70% of cases affect children in the earliest years of their lives, compromising their chance to have a future. From 1990, Telethon Foundation has invested over 623 million euros in research, funding 2804 projects, involving 1676 researchers and has studied more than 580 diseases. This association was born from the will to spread sports paths, everyday life, experiences that allowed Mateo to grow up in a very particular world. Matteo was diving and life champion. Despite the many difficulties he had to bear, he taught everyone what is like to live your life with a smile on your face. So, become solidary champion and submit now! National Emodialized Dialisis and Transplant Association –from 1972 deals with nephropathic people. It has contributed to the improvement of the life of dialyzed and transplanted patients, working in order to guarantee them civic, sanitary and social safeguards. For 20 years our Association has promoted sport as a powerful mean of redemption from illness and of active witness of will to live and health of dialyzed and transplanted patients. ANED SPORT Committee is now a very active section of the Association and includes a wider sport representation, consisting of people who have immediate dialysis or transplant of every organ or tissue. The mission of Sport Senza Frontiere is social inclusion of children though sport, who live a social or economic distress. Participating in Run Rome The Marathon to support the summer project Joy: the educational summer project by Sport Senza Frontiere, that includes the residential summer camp (JOY SUMMER CAMP), food education and healthy lifestyles workshops, educative-creative workshops and digital workshops (JOY-LAB), summer sport center (JOY_POINT) and mini camp in the middle of nature (Joy Nature).

With these activities Sport Senza Frontiere Onlus aims to help children to live a peaceful summer, in the spirit of fun, of living together and friendship. These are children who, at the end of school, have no alternatives. To run with Sport Senza Frontiere Onlus means to help children who live a social and economic distress and risk social exclusion. Ey Foundation Onlus

This foundation was instituted in 2012, wanted by the Italian entity of EY network dedicated to professional services of revision and accountability organization, fiscal and legal assistance, transaction and consulting. EY Foundation Onlus is the operating arm of the planning and implementing of Corporate Responsibility programs and projects of EY network in Italy and the planning and realization of projects for social solidarity. The projects are mainly addressed to teenagers who want to achieve professional formation goals, or who are expected to deal with a disease or a home-based aftercare or a difficult situation. Sport City Foundation

Association born in 2005 that since its foundation looks after the promotion of studies on progeria, from its scientific aspects to the most human aspects connected to patients’ everyday life experiences. It particularly deals with fund raising for research; mediating true scientific information to specialists and Universities, to schools and to the big public; to promote scientific partnerships between researchers, doctors and specialists from different equipes and different countries of the world; supporting families with progeria in whatever involves the choice of a path to follow and dealing with everyday life challenges; being a trustworthy high level interlocutor to whom Italian, European and Foreign Institutions can speak.

It enters for the first time the Charity Program of The Marathon of Rome, with the aim of promoting and supporting the ‘sportivisation’ of Italian cities. The city parks and squares become place for sport, ready to host sports activities that can be attended by the whole community. SportCity Foundation brings free sport into Italian cities on the occasion of SportCity Day and it will form SportCity trainers in every city that will be a hosting location who are able to teach how to play a sport in the urban areas in complete safety and with the best result. For over 30 years, Banco Alimentare Roma is a moving point in the fight against food waste and in food recovery to give it to those in need.
