WHO IS JAMEC PEM?

Jamec Pem is an iconic Australian brand who’s heritage dates back to 1937. The original company was founded by Jim Morris and operated under the name JA Morris Engineering before changing its name to Jamec Tools and registering that name in 1951.

During the 1930’s and 1940’s the company specialised in the production of Air Tools made to a very high quality. Leading to Jamec products being known for Quality.

During World War II the company became a leading supplier to the aircraft industry.

After the war the company’s focus was on airline fittings and the development of the 310 and 320 button series, still being sold to this day.

In 1960 Jim Morris had a falling out with his then partner and left to start a new repetition Engineering business called JDS Morris. At that time both Jim’s new business and Jamec Tools existed in the same market. In 1984 Jamec wanted to obtain a presence in NSW and this led to the acquisition of Pem Tools, who were also large tyre inflator manufacturers, during this time they also acquired JDS Morris and the three businesses became known as Jamec Pem based out of their operation in Tooronga

In 1985 the business was sold to McKechnie metals, then in 2002 sold to Primus Australia and in 2018 sold again and the brand now sits housed under the TradePem Industrial Pty Ltd business.

To this very day nearly 90 years later Jamec Pem retain a strong level of Australian know how, design and engineering in all of the products we supply to our clients here in Australia and increasingly overseas.

Designed in Australia, the Compressed Air Safety Valve (CASV) instantly cuts off the rush of air in situations where a pneumatic air hose fails or becomes disconnected under pressure. Hose whip caused by hose failure can potentially cause damage to nearby equipment or injury to the operator.

FITTING THE COMPRESSED AIR SAFETY VALVE (CASV)

„ It is recommended that no more than two hoses of the same bore diameter should be connected together

„ Where very long lengths of hose are needed, then larger hoses stepping down to the tool hose with appropriate CASV at 18 m (60 ft) intervals are recommended

„ These CASV are designed and calibrated at the working pressure of 90 – 110 psi

„ If the supply pressure is not sufficient the CASV may not function correctly

„ If two or more hoses of the same size are coupled together then the pressure to operate the CASV must be higher

„ Each valve can only protect a maximum of 18 m (60 ft) of its nominal hose size. Check that the contemplated air supply can handle this. Any fittings used in the air hose system that in any way restricts the air flow must be considered in relation to pressure drop and may be the cause of non-operation of the CASV

„ The information provided is only to be used as a general guide to average situations and is NOT to be regarded as being critically applicable to any situation

„ The condition of hoses, type and number of fittings can vary to significant degrees making it impossible to predict accurately

„ CASV are designed to handle all the expected variables of each matching hose size, to ensure efficient and safe operation of that hose, they are pre-set and sealed. NO ADJUSTMENTS ARE REQUIRED.

„ All air hoses from 10 mm (3/8") internal diameter and over should be individually fitted with CASV as 20 m in the case of 3/8" hose
