1 CBCS holds inaugural landing zone safety certification course

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Hunter Rhoden, 86th Operations Support Squadron air traffic controller, peers through a lensatic compass while setting up landing zone marking panels at Chièvres Air Base, Belgium, Feb. 13. A combined team of air traffic controllers, airfield operations officers, radar airfield weather systems technicians and airfield managers earned their landing zone safety officer certification on Feb. 11-15. This special experience identifier allows them to perform the LZSO function in all environments.
