Chromate Conversion Coating for Aluminum | Advanced Surface Technologies
A chromate conversion coating is a chemical coating commonly applied to aluminum alloys as a protective measure. It prevents rusting and improves the paint's adhesion to the surface of the aluminum. In addition, when applied as a thin layer, it can facilitate the conduction of electricity. Conversely, steel substrates typically require different chemical coatings, such as iron phosphate and zinc phosphate coatings, to achieve similar protection.
