Advance Cairns has released the region’s new advocacy priority list, developed during an extensive review process with key stakeholders including Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Cairns Chamber of Commerce and Regional Development Australia Far North Queensland and Torres Strait.
Government support of more than $2.5 billion is sought to fund a series of catalytic infrastructure and policy initiatives which would redefine tropical north Queensland.
The new so-called ‘8+8’ list features eight major infrastructure and eight key policy priority areas which will form the centrepiece of advocacy in the lead up to the 2020 Federal and State budgets and the Queensland election the following October.
