At its best, human ability to maintain the order of the four folds are what kept them grounded in their existence, it's what give their lives a meaning. To separate the human existence and the environment surrounding it life is impossible. The environment, being one of the four folds protected, are the spaces in which them dwells and live their life, this environment consist of layers of interior, starting from outside the human skin through boundaries that form space.

However, as our technology progresses, we interfere how the environment around us is constructed. We use nature based energy source, we exploit and mine the earth, we find new materials, new way of producing things, and thus we change our way of living in a more compact, and fast paced environment that the city exhibits. If done without caution and consciousness, this rapid shift of movement and production can be dangerous to the environment.

Preface

A damaged environment means there are unhealthy layers of interiors, as the interior is the closest proximity to human skin, this impact our being. Across the time, our concern about well being has grown, along with the ever changing notion of environment surrounds us.

Technology however, can be responsible as the main reason of the damaged environment, and also can be a catalyst, that helps us reach well being, In this project, we will focus on the catalyst aspect as we integrate the technological idea and the programming to reach the desired definition of well being.

Defining Well Being The definition of well being is heavily tied to its context. In this project, the existing site is an apartment and office complex. The Nifarro park complex is located in the middle of Pasar Minggu neighborhood, it is surrounded by houses and public facilities such as mosque, food stalls, gas station and much more.

The user of this complex is mostly office worker and temporal dweller from the apartment, which they only occupy on w e ekdays .

As they dwell the spaces inside the complex, there are fulfillment of human needs that take place, this needs are various, and can be very individually different. One of the need that we will shed light on this project is spiritual needs. from the on site observation, we can conclude that the Niagara park complex itself is unable to fulfill these needs. we often see them looking for nearby mosque every Friday prayer, or if we freed our definition of spiritual wellbeing and religion, the complex itself, as an integrated living space is not responding to the user's need of solitude and tran- q uility.

These two aspects are crucial in the fast paced notion of urban living.

As we're constantlysurrounded by other people, and rarely have time to ourselves to reflect our lives. The importance in the fulfillment of spiritual needs, to reach spiritual well being are essential to our life.

Spiritual well being itself is explored in this project, as explored on the diagram next to this page and translated to the programming of the spaces inside Dolce Aqua

Reading The Existing As we expose the information and findings of the site, there are some aspects that we concentrate in order to find the technological idea and unlock the site potential. This finding also functions as consideration for choosing the project's site.

The Nifarro park complex contains 2 buildings, there are ITS tower which is used as an office, and there are Nifarro apartment which contains 2 towers, Eboni and Mahoni and a pedium that connects both tower. The office and apartment shares the same basement that spread out across the complex underground, the basement contains 2 levels, which are semi basement and basement 1. In the future, this complex will be integrated together with hotel that will be placed on the east side of the complex, the site for the hotel is now unoccupied and a lot of ferns overgrown on the site.

The Current The building complex has drastic height difference than the surrounding neighborhood. This makes them more fragile to the rapid wind current at higher heights, considering the Nifarro Apartment and ITS Tower is the only high rise building around the neighborhood of residential-low rise h o u s e s .

On Site Findings After several site visits and analysis done, i decided to focus on the current of fluid, in which this case is air, that occurs around the Nifarro Park Complex.

The Site

The interaction between the wind current and the building facade creates two distinct zoning area in which the wind moves faster than its regular speed

The two rapid currents serves as the source of energy that are used for the technology to work, therefore the site is chosen by the amount of availability of the energy on site

Therefore, the site have potentials of two rapid wind currents that acts as the main energy source for this project to be reproduced and use as the medium of the technological idea proposed.

Technological Idea

The two currents of air that occurred on

the site itself have the affordance to combat high temperature using the shading from the surrounding building, and using the fast wind current formed in between the building. the basement has really humid and hot micro climate, this is caused by the wind ventilation not really functioning properly on the basement. this occurs worse in level basement 2, due to this condition, there are no human activity there beside parking their car/motorcycle

Developing Programming After we are able to control the desired outcome of the experiment, we can extract spatial strategies that can be applied to the programming. The programming itself, must be complex as it is the ultimate tools to reach the desired well being.

As we learned before that in order to reach spiritual well being, we must be clean. In that sense, this entire programming are consist of cleansing rituals, which there are physical, mental, and social cleanse.

The Narrative of Visceral Cleansing

the act of leaving all of the userâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s p ossession behind, disconnecting with the outside alarm, avoiding anydisr u p t i on the user is well aware of their mental and body c o n d i t i o n through body scanning, in which they are let relaxed, giving them time to unwind after a long day of work and at the same time to be mindfull of their beings

the user take small steps of cleansing through the interconnectedness between their body and water, this help them wash the negative energy that lies on their skin, as well on their mind through yoga, the user are refreshed, it moves physical parts of the bodies, in which they stretch, all thorough cleansing of the tension felt on parts of the body

The socializing space are filled with descending contours with a communal middle ground that aims to sparks conversations in groups of individuality.

The holes constructed inside the concrete sculpture are used for storage purposes

In the bathing room, the same constructed concrete are used to place mirrors and place the amenities for bathing.

The walking meditation space are consisted of contours and rough texture to give sensation to the userâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s feet, the descending contours are acheived from the development model 2.

The plane orientation are the same and the proximity between plane are controlled to get the desired wind quality.

In the brisk cleansing space, the water is used as the main cleansing medium, in this room, the water is used within vertical and horizontal plane to create various water flow, to accomodate each and individual user needs of brisk water cleansing.

The body scanning room are consisted of different orientation of planes to get the desired wind movement, meanwhile providing individual space for the user, the constructed concrete also responds to the userâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s body so that it helps them find their own individual contour to meditate the s p a ce

In this room we can see the contour used to construct ramp for the vertical access as well as using it to give various sensation to the userâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s feet.

The walking mesitation space in this area is mostly straight contoured, but more focusing on giving various texture for the feet to follow.

The similar orientation plane on this drying room are used to create fast and dispersed wind quality to dry the user body after brisk c leansing.

The single focus meditation space contains different orientation planes to get the desired wind qualities, meanwhile providing individual boundaries for each user to help them free from distractions while m e ditating.

The ground floor are dedicated to Yoga activity only, therefore, the room is spacious, as it accomodate groups of people to do yoga together, the wind quality are depends on the surrounding, as it uses the existing rapid wind currents to do this activity.

Materiality Overall, Dolce Aqua consist of 4 main materials, which is timber, concrete, stone bricks, and rammed earth.

This Architectural Project are made from cast in concrete and uses the soil for the framing of the design, resulting in a texture and composition of space in between the void that the concrete and soil created.
