A tough disease meets its match My mother died from breast cancer when she was 53 and my brother died of cancer when he was 34. So when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I knew I was in the fight for my life. Because of my family history, my battle against cancer had to be full-on. Luckily, the staff at Hayworth Cancer Center at High Point Regional really go into action like an army fighting the enemy. They come at you from all directions with help, tests, plans, protocols, calendars. They have access to the latest treatment protocol and research, and the most current diagnostic tests. And incredibly this level of care is right here at home in High Point.

A fan for life No one wants to hear they need to be hospitalized, but when my high risk pregnancy made bed rest necessary, I was relieved to be at High Point Regional's Women's Center. I knew the sta well from the wonderful experience I'd had with my oldest son's birth. Although I was scared, the expertise of the doctors and sta and the warm, personalized care really eased my transition into being a mom, and being a mom of two healthy energetic boys. A life or death decision On January 12th, I was told I needed an Aortic Valve Replacement. It was a scary moment since it's such a major surgery. The walk of a lifetime Just two weeks before my daughter’s wedding I started having chest pains and was rushed to High Point Regional.
