Writing and illustrating these stories has highlighted again how lucky we are to work with such an inspirational team.
Adrian. I dedicate this book to the many amazing scientists who have trained and worked in our lab. While this book was written at a snapshot in time in late 2023, it could have equally been written at any point over the past fifteen years, covering the stories of the near-200 scientists who spent time in our lab. Each of you inspired me and taught me, and I am proud to watch your successes as lab alumni.
Yulia. I thank all the people featured in the book, and especially Adrian and James for introducing me into this wonderful project. I thank my cat Penny for being patient while I was focused on my work instead of her. And my mum for encouraging me to learn English since I was three.
