Old Silk Route Tour Plan with North Sikkim

Day 1 – NJP to Sillery or Ramdhura

Meet & greet on arrival at NJP / IXB and drive for 4 HRS to Sillery,a god gifted Jem in Darjeeling hill overlooking 180 degrees Mt Kanchenjunga from your cottage.You can also do a soft trek to near by Pine Forest Village.Enjoy the breathtaking Sunset on Mt Kanchenjunga from your room. Day 2 – Sillery to Mankhim or Aritar

After breakfast starts for Mankhim,just beside of Lampokhri Lake.This lake is the highest lake with boating facility in Sikkim. Enjoy the boating in the Post Lunch session. Enroute Sightseeing to Mankhim Temple, Mankhim View Point, Aritar Monastery and Aritar Dakbunglow. Overnight in Mankhim.

Day 3 – Mankhim to Zuluk or Padamchen

After breakfast, start the journey from Mankhim towards Zuluk via Lingtum , Padamchen , Kheukhela falls , Enjoy the Sunset from Zuluk.Most of the silk route tour operators are focusing on this Dzuluk area. Overnight in Zuluk.

Day 4 – Zuluk to Gangtok

Day 5 – Gangtok to Lachen (130 Kms / 06 hrs)

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from hotel at Gangtok at about 10 a.m. towards Lachen via NH 31A. On the way stop and enjoy a few wonderful locations like

Seven Sister Waterfalls – Seven Sister Waterfalls, The name is given to this waterfall as it makes its descent in seven stages. Day 6 – Gurudongmar Excursion (5450 M/70 kms/03 hrs) and towards Lachung

Gurudongmar Lake – one of the most sacred lakes believed by the Buddhists and Hindus alike. The beautiful and awe inspiring lake remains milky in colour throughout the year. According to a legend, since the lake used to remain frozen most of the year, it was not possible to use its water for drinking purposes. When the Guru Padmasambhava passed by, while returning from Tibet, the local residents are reported to have approached him for providing source of water.The Guru obliged. A portion of the lake touched by him does not freeze in extreme winter. Since water of the lake is considered sacred, visitors carry the ‘blessed’ water in bottles.

Day 7 – Lachung to Gangtok (Yumthang Valley Excursion )

After breakfast, excursion to Yumthang Valley, the valley full of Snow in winter and Rhododendron during the month of May (11800ft/1.5Hrs), is the main attraction around. You can also visit Zero Point ( At extra Cost subject to Permit and Road Condition ) .Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary Spread over 43 sq km through which flows the Yumthang river,it adjoins Lachung and Yumthang. The Sanctuary which is known for its abundance of Rhododendron shrubs and trees is rich in ground flora and other vegetation as well.

Day 8 -Gangtok to Pelling, 4hrs

Rimbi Waterfalls, About 12kms away from Pelling and about 5kms further down from Darap village is Rimbi River Bank which falls on the way to Khecheopalri and Yuksam where the main attractions are the river, water falls.

Sewaro Rock Garden, developed by the tourism department of Sikkim, richly maintained with rocks, gardens, pools, zigzag foot paths and interesting recreation amenities like swimming yard, viewpoints and cafeteria.

Khecheopalri Lake the holy lake surrounded by dense forests is held sacred by Hindus and Buddhists alike.

Kanchenjunga Water Falls, an hour-long drive from Pelling, is a must see natural beauty.

After lunch go for visits to

Pemayangtse Monastery, constructed in 17th century, this headquarters of the Nyingma sect nestles on an altitude of 2085 mtrs and is surrounded by snow-clad mountains.

Rabdentse Ruins, located near the Pemayangtse Monastery, this was the second capital of the Sikkim Royalty after Yuksom. The ruins of the city commands a panoramic view of Khangchendzonga and the valley.
