Applicant must be a 2024 High School graduating senior.
Grade point average must be 2.5 or higher.

Student must be a member of Mount Zion Ministries and active in their youth ministry.
Planning to attend a University, College, Technical, or Trade School.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
• Graduating High School seniors will submit an application packet and present themselves to the scholarship board for consideration of the scholarships.
• Applicants will submit a completed packet NLT TUESDAY,APRIL 30,2024,5PM with the following:
Completed application
One page (single-spaced) or 2 pages (if double spaced) typed essay (topics included in this package), including cover sheet with full name and high school
2.5 or higher GPA (please submit an Official Transcript, sealed)
Letter of introduction from parents/guardian
Letter of recommendations (2, sealed in an envelope)
• Applicants will report in professional business attire on THURSDAY,MAY 9,2024,5PM for the speech presentation. The speech will complete the application process.
The applicants will introduce themselves; explain their academic achievements and goals.
The 5 - 8-minute speech, on the essay’s topic, will follow the introduction.
SCORING
• Applicants are evaluated in consideration of the following categories.
Academic background, letters of recommendation and grade point average
Church activities, school activities
Speech and interview
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS:

THE ESSAY
INSTRUCTIONS: If you are competing for the SONJA E. GORDON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP, you are required to complete an essay on one of the topics listed below.
ESSAY FORMAT: Use 8 ½” x 11” white paper; computer generated. Limit your essay to one page (singlespaced) or two pages (double-spaced). Your essay must be typed in 12pt Times New Roman font. Please use 1” margins all around. If you decide to cite outside sources, please document them properly using MLA or APA standards. (No extra documents such as pictures or diagrams are required.)
