WHERE HISTORY MEETS THE COAST
Fort Myers
Discover the charm of Fort Myers, from its historic downtown to its lush parks and preserves. Begin your journey back in time at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, one of Florida’s most celebrated historic landmarks. Explore fascinating exhibits of Thomas Edison’s inventions, peek inside his original laboratory, and wander through the exquisite gardens surrounding the preserved winter homes of Edison and Henry Ford. Year-round, the estate blooms with tropical plants from around the globe, anchored by a massive banyan tree that has stood for more than 95 years. In the heart of the city, the Fort Myers River District feels like stepping into a living time capsule of early 20th-century architecture. Today, these historic streets are alive with galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and nightlife. Enjoy monthly art and music festivals, sip craft beer at local breweries, take in rooftop views at lively bars, or catch a performance at the riverside amphitheater. For a change of pace, Fort Myers’ green spaces invite exploration. Hike, bike, or paddle through wildlife habitats at Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve or the San Carlos Bay Bunche Beach Preserve. Visit Manatee Park to see gentle sea cows in their natural environment, or stop at the Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium to meet rescued animals and learn about Florida’s
ecosystems. Families will love Lakes Regional Park, where miniature train rides, playgrounds, gardens, and boat rentals make for a full day of fun. Sports enthusiasts won’t be left out—each spring, Fort Myers hosts MLB’s spring training to Minnesota Twins at Lee Health Sports Complex and the Boston Red Sox at JetBlue Park. Year-round, the city offers plenty of ways to stay active, from golf and pickleball to endless outdoor adventures.

While some businesses continue their recovery efforts, many resorts, hotels, and restaurants are fully operational and eager to welcome visitors. Perfect Beach Days Await: Important information: Before heading to the beaches, please be aware that some areas and facilities are still undergoing restoration. History & Fun: History lovers will enjoy Mound House, the island’s oldest standing building, set atop a 2,000-year-old Calusa shell mound. Arrive by car or boat, and even launch a kayak to explore the Great Calusa Blueway. Embrace the nautical vibe with dolphin cruises, fishing charters, and views of the historic shrimping fleet supplying Fort Myers Beach with its famous pink Gulf shrimp. Though many accommodations are still rebuilding, several are ready to welcome you back. Your Fort Myers Beach adventure starts here! 20 Fort Myers | Fort Myers Beach | Sanibel & Captiva Islands | Estero

THE HEART OF THE TEN THOUSAND ISLANDS
Marco Island Marco Island, the largest jewel in Southwest Florida’s magnificent Ten Thousand Islands, is a mesmerizing destination where the tranquil Gulf of Mexico embraces pristine mangrove estuaries. Its allure is further amplified by the proximity of the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge and the sprawling Everglades National Park to its south, creating an unparalleled saltwater wilderness. This untouched natural sanctuary is highly esteemed by anglers globally, drawn to its rich biodiversity and serene fishing grounds. Beyond its appeal to fishing enthusiasts, Marco Island is a veritable paradise for nature lovers, offering a luxurious yet relaxed ambiance amidst its dazzling white-sand beaches. Visitors can immerse themselves in the island’s serene waterways, navigate through intricate mangrove forests, or enjoy a leisurely stroll along the picturesque lagoon at Tigertail Beach Park. For those seeking more active adventures, kayaking or boating expeditions provide endless opportunities to explore the island’s breathtaking natural beauty. From the thrill of fishing and the tranquility of paddling to exhilarating boat trips and the simple pleasure of beachcombing, Marco Island promises a wealth of unforgettable experiences that cater to every kind of explorer. Exploring Marco Island’s Exceptional Beaches: Keewaydin Island: This barrier island is positioned between Naples
and Marco Island. Accessible only by boat, this beach island holds the distinction of being the only pet-friendly beach in the Naples/ Marco Island area. The Hemingway Water Shuttle operates seven times a day, facilitating drop-off and pick-up trips to the Keewaydin Beach.
Tigertail Beach Park: At 32 acres, this barrier island stands as a crucial habitat for wintering and nesting shore birds. A Tidal Lagoon separates the park from Big Marco Pass Critical Wildlife which is a haven for wildlife that includes horseshoe crabs, needlefish, Florida fighting conchs and more. Visitors can choose to wade through the lagoon or take a stroll around the south side of the lagoon to the 3 miles of soft white sandy beach.

Just south of Naples and Marco Island, Everglades National Park is North America’s only subtropical preserve, part of the nation’s largest wetlands ecosystem, and a designated World Heritage Site.
In Collier County, over 80% of the land is protected parks and preserves, much of it within the Everglades. Here, you’ll find hundreds of bird species, fish, alligators, bobcats, black bears, and the endangered Florida panther.
Far more than a “swamp,” the Everglades is a vast, slow-moving river known as the “River of Grass.” Airboat rides and boat tours offer the best way to explore its hidden beauty and wildlife—an unforgettable adventure for the whole family.

NATURE, NEIGHBORHOODS & ENDLESS WATERWAYS
Cape Coral
Cape Coral, known for its impressive network of over 400 miles of canals, has become a top boating destination and a popular spot for vacation home rentals. This coastal gem boasts a welcoming community perfect for nature lovers, families, and couples alike. The vibrant atmosphere is alive with events, from family-friendly outdoor movie nights to bustling farmers markets and festive holiday celebrations. With five marinas offering fishing and yacht charters, as well as boat, kayak, and paddleboat rentals, Cape Coral is a haven for water enthusiasts. But it’s not just about the waterways; the city features over 1,500 acres of pristine parks equipped with playgrounds, picnic areas, tennis courts, and waterfront parks with boat ramps and swimming options. At Rotary Park, you can take a leisurely stroll along a nearly milelong path that’s part of the Florida Birding Trail, offering birdwatchers a chance to spot diverse avian species in tranquil uplands and salt marshes. Don’t miss the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve, where a picturesque boardwalk winds through mangroves along the scenic Caloosahatchee River. Wildlife encounters extend beyond the wilderness, as you might spot small burrowing owls in Cape Coral’s neighborhoods and parks. With over 1,000 nesting pairs of this rare species, the city celebrates them every February at the Burrowing Owl Festival, featuring guided tours, children’s activities, and educational sessions about these unique birds and the local ecosystem. When it’s time to eat, explore the waterfront restaurants that offer stunning views to complement their delicious menus and craft beverages. Head to the South Cape district for a diverse selection of eateries serving up an array of culinary delights. Cape Coral is truly a vibrant destination for relaxation, adventure, and unforgettable experiences!

TRANQUILITY, TALENT & TIMELESS
Matlacha & Pine Island, just off Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast, is an 18-milelong, 2-mile-wide retreat of natural beauty and artistic charm. Only 15 minutes from Cape Coral and 30 from Fort Myers, it offers a tranquil escape with lush scenery and a thriving creative community. Pine Island, the largest island on Florida’s Gulf Coast, welcomes visitors with a quiet, unspoiled beauty that feels worlds away from the bustle of nearby cities. Its atmosphere is serene and laid-back, offering a refreshing sense of seclusion. Surrounded by lush mangroves, three aquatic preserves, and groves of swaying palms, tropical plants, and fruit trees, the island retains a natural charm rarely found in Florida’s more developed destinations. Here, there are no towering high-rises or crowded boardwalks—just wide-open skies, tranquil waters, and a landscape that has preserved its authenticity through time. The centerpiece of the island is Pine Island Sound, a paradise for anglers and boaters. Its pristine waters are alive with marine life, making it one of the best fishing grounds in Southwest Florida. Redfish, snook, tarpon, and trout are just some of the prized catches that draw fishing enthusiasts from around the world. Beyond fishing, the sound is also a haven for birdwatchers, offering the chance to spot ospreys, herons, egrets, and even bald eagles soaring above. Kayakers and canoeists can meander through winding waterways that lead to hidden coves, while hikers explore trails lined with wildflowers, tropical vegetation, and glimpses of wildlife. In addition to its natural wonders, Pine Island has grown into a vibrant hub for artists, musicians, and writers who find inspiration in its landscapes and tranquility. Small towns like Matlacha, Bokeelia, and St. James City each have their own distinct character, dotted with colorful galleries, studios, and specialty shops showcasing local craftsmanship. Art festivals and community gatherings create opportunities to experience

Quaint dockside eateries and waterfront restaurants offer the perfect backdrop for enjoying a meal while watching the sun dip below the horizon. Farmers markets and roadside stands add to the island’s flavor, selling locally grown tropical fruits. Pine Island is more than a destination—it’s a community rich with history, art, and tradition. From its scenic preserves and peaceful waters to its thriving creative culture and warm, welcoming locals, the island invites exploration and discovery. It is a place where travelers can reconnect with nature, indulge in authentic flavors, and find inspiration in every sunset.
