Majalah TransNusa Inflight kami, dapat dinikmati secara online dan diterbitkan setiap dua bulan sekali, agar dapat lebih cepat meng-update informasi mengenai perkembangan luar biasa yang sedang berlangsung didaerah. Kami juga terlibat dalam pengembangan di kawasan Timur Indonesia dan baru saja kami menandatangani memorandum untuk membangun sebuah hotel pertama berbintang-3 di Kupang yang hanya 3,5 menit dari Bandara Eltari. Berkapasitas 98 kamar, hotel ini akan dilengkapi dengan lounge kedatangan dan keberangkatan yang luas dan nyaman bagi para penumpang yang tiba di Bandara Eltari.

For those of you flying with us for the first time, thank you for choosing to fly with us. And for all you others who we now call old friends – thank you for continuing to fly with us – you are flying in the most exciting area of Indonesia – the east.

To facilitate flights to and from other major destinations in Indonesia we have extended our collaboration with Sriwijaya Air so that TransNusa flights at the Kupang hub connect with flights to and from Jakarta and Surabaya. This is in addition to our a new flight route using the comfortable 84-seat BAE 146/200 jet aircraft : Denpasar - Tambolaka Ende - Kupang and return, which brings Sumba and Flores closer together and which will assist in tourism there.

Our inflight magazine, which is now online, and which we now produce every two months, so as to be more up- to-date, shows off some of the attractions of the region and evidence of the incredible development that is taking place. We show you what’s happening in the Gili islands of Lombok and what’s happening on Lombok’s mainland in the Kuta and Senggigi areas. We also take you to Alor to give you a taste of the attractions further east.

We are also involved in the development of the region and have just concluded the signing of a memorandum to build the first 3-star hotel in Kupang, only 3.5 minutes from Eltari airport. With 98 rooms, the hotel will also include a large comfortable lounge for the convenience of passengers who arrive and depart from Eltari.

Mungkin agak jauh letaknya Novotel, tapi dengan ukuran pulau Lombok seperti ini membuat tempat wisata utama yang ada disini dapat ditempuh dengan hanya tiga jam berkendaraan. Beberapa malah lebih dekat. Perjalanan ke gunung berapi Rinjani, sangatlah bernilai dan membutuhkan fisik yang cukup kuat. Atau menikmati santap siang atau malam di Senggigi dimana banyak terdapat hotel-hotel berbintang dan restaurant-restaurant bertaraf International yang memiliki pemandangan sunset yang spectakuler, juga bisa.

Selebihnya tidaklah perlu berjalan terlalu jauh dari Novotel – yang mewah dan tersembunyi. Sebuah oasis yang penuh dengan kenyamanan. Yanik dan Alice pemilik restauran ini sangat ramah, Anda akan melihat para pengunjung menikmati tempat ini. Banyak yang menganggap mereka memiliki steak terbaik dan bagi Anda para pencinta musik Jezz atau Blues, setiap hari Rabu, Kamis, Jumat dan Sabtu inilah tempatnya. Sambil menikmati santap malam, Anda dapat menikmati permainan para musisi terbaik di pulau ini. Cobalah Belgische Stovers yang merupakan masakan khas Belgia; daging sapi rebus dibumbui dengan bir hitam buatan Belgia disajikan dengan kentang goreng dan salad hem...benar-benar menggugah selera! Dan kami sarankan untuk memesan tempat terlebih dahulu karena tempat ini cukup ramai dan kadang kala kita harus duduk dan makan di bar. Letaknya tepat di jantung Seminyak – Kuta, Mannekepis menyajikan konsep baru - ‘fun dining’.

Don’t let the name put you off. That’s right –I thought it was going to be an Indonesian restaurant! It’s Belgian and it refers to the little fellow with the little fellow. And don’t worry about it being Belgian – they have more varieties of beer than anywhere else in the world and they invented French fries – credentials not to be treated lightly - which they call Belgian fries (not chips).

And I now realize that those Belgians prepare seriously good food – or should I say exceptionally good.

Affable Yannic and Alice (the footstomping, handclapping, music loving, owners of the place) mentioned in passing that many consider they have best steaks on the island. They do.

And then there is the music to match. Mannekepis seems to have become the unofficial converging point for some of the best musicians in Bali. Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night the place rocks and pumps…or whatever you’d like to call it when blues and jazz lovers get it on. It’s entertainment while you eat.

The menu has regular dishes like steak, nachos, Caesar salads, many varieties of fish but also some other tantalizing items that (again!) must be originally Belgian or belong to the personal collection of Yannic and Alice. Check out Belgische Stovers which is a traditional Belgium beef stew flavoured with dark beer served with homemade Belgium fries and salad - a stew that actually has taste! Or the Prawn Fettucinni ‘Mannekepis with black tiger prawns and Sauce ‘Mannekepis’ – a secret recipe known only to the creator, Yannic, consisting of Tomato, Cream, Ricard, and Mannekepis Spices. Or if you’re hunting for a salad there’s the Crottin Chauvignol made up of caramelized goat cheese, honey, mixed greens, raspberry vinaigrette, garnished with strawberries.

It wasn’t too long ago that Bali residents intent on escaping Nyepi, the days of silence when everyone on the island of Bali is confined to their hotels or residences and the streets are bereft of human life, transportation and noise, headed over to Lombok’s Senggigi beach area in throngs. Times have changed however and it is more than a tad ironic that Senngigi is now no longer a destination to escape the sounds of silence but a destination to escape traffic, crowds and incessant sounds.

Where Lombok (and its main tourism locale, Senggigi) used to be seen as the poorer relative of other destinations in Indonesia like Jogya and Bali, it is now seen as the younger, rich cousin arriving in the region like a breath of fresh air. Yes, it is like Bali 20 years ago - no traffic, no pollution, no crowds.

Finding a decent meal in Senggigi used to be as difficult as finding grilled tuna in a sushi bar – the choices are not unlimited now, but a few eateries like Café Alberto, right on the beach, Square with a truly international menu, Quake with delicious Thai dishes and Lotus admirably run by host Maurizio, are providing a new impetus to the cuisine scene in Senggigi.

One of the “others” - Gili Meno on the other hand, in many ways caters more to the adventurer or David Attenborough in us. You might say that Gili Meno is for nature lovers – there’s a lake in the middle and as with all lakes it attracts birds and tranquility as the sun descends.

Remember this lake is in the middle of a coral island and momentarily serves as another sanctuary and unique discriminator. There’s even a bird park.

appear close enough to touch and are that perfect invitation to dive down and mingle with them in situ. Accommodation is beautifully sparse and exceedingly comfortable.

So we have had: hill – Trawangan; lake – Meno; so that leaves Gili Air with its air of reality – this is the island that has indigenes – a people population of families – kids and livestock – people going about their daily businesss - that for many years made the island “home” before the backpackers arrived, before the world knew of Lombok and her Gili islands. Consequently ,Gili Air was the first of the three Gilis to be invaded by the world of tourism – for a start there was somewhere to stay, even if it did mean bunking up in someone’s spare room! Hotels and losmens began to appear.

The relationship however between the locals and arriving businesses became somewhat strained – does anyone want their traditional lifestyle disrupted by tourists and their careefree ways?

As a result the impetus of tourism moved to sparsely populated Gili Trawangan, leaving Gili Air the opportunity to develop at its own pace.

A pace where development has seen a variety of businesses – dive shops, budget and gourmet restaurants, losmens and up market accommodation, local merchants relaxingly snug together and uncrowded. A DISABLED man was nabbed by 8 cops for drinkdriving on his 3mph mobility scooter Seorang Kakek Cacat ditangkap oleh delapan polisi karena mengendarai mobil scooter berkecepatan 5km/jam dalam keadaan mabuk.

Kakek Eamonn Donohue berusia 62 tahun menolak untuk berhenti ketika seorang polisi memintanya untuk berhenti sepulang dari pub.

Beberapa event mempunyai pengaruh yang besar untuk mengembangkan pariwisata suatu negara termasuk event event olahraga, lihat saja Piala Dunia Afrika – atau bagaiman America Cup yang membuat pengunjungnya meledak di Newport, Rhode Island atau Fremantle Australia; coba lihat apa makna balapan Volvo Dunia bagi kota-kota pesertanya – semuanya menghasilkan publikasi – dan akhirnya publikasi dari event besar itu selalu saja menghasilkan dolar!

Masyarakat Medana Bay, Lombok merasa bangga dapat menjadi tuan rumah Sail Indonesia 2010. Persiapan sedang berlangsung untuk menyambut acara Sail Indonesia 2010 yang akan hadir pada bulan September. Dermaga yang paling penting pun telah siap, dibangun oleh orang-orang yang memiliki ambisi tinggi, yang dikepalai oleh Ace Robin, menyediakan pelabuhan yang aman bagi kapal-kapal peserta Sail Indonesia.

Sudah siap dan menunggu, sama seperti Sail Indonesia 2009, ketika pertama kali Sail Indonesia secara resmi mengunjungi Lombok dan Medana. Sekitar 90 yachts berlabuh di tanjung ini, ada beberapa yang tinggal selama satu bulan, untuk menikmati masa istirahat di pelabuhan yang aman dan tenang.

Medana Bay merupakan pelabuhan yang secara alami memang aman, terlindung dari angin dan ombak besar, disamping banyaknya pilihan rute berlayar ke pulau-pulau sebelah timur, bisa dengan mudah berlayar ke kepulauan Gili. Dan yang paling penting saudara-saudara!!!Di sana telah dibangun infrastruktur dasar dari mulai jalan, listrik, air, dan telepon. Hats off then to the folk down at Medana Bay, Lombok. Preparations are underway for the arrival of Sail Indonesia, Banda 2010 in September.

The vitally important Marina, built by a few passionate Lombok dreamers, headed by Ace Robin, provides safe haven for the participating vessels. And it’s ready and waiting, as it was for last year’s Sail Indonesia 2009, the first time Sail Indonesia officially visited Lombok and Medana. Some 90 yachts stayed in the bay – some staying for as long as a month, enjoying a break on tranquil safe moorings.

Medana Bay is a natural safe harbour, protected from the prevailing major winds and waves beside the preferred sailing route to the eastern isles, yet within an easy day’s sail to the Gilis. What’s more, there is an established basic infrastructure of roads, electricity, water and telecoms. There is also plenty of room to develop; nearby are hotels and a golf course.

The marina basin has 25 mooring buoys in more than 5m of water for 35ft to 45ft vessels and anchorage space for another 20 vessels in deep but sheltered waters. Ace says that they plan to put in a slipway next year so that

Some 110 yachts are already registered to participate and Medana Bay Marina is one of the official stopovers with boats expected to arrive in Lombok from early September onwards and leave by 22nd September.

Program ini bekerjasama dengan Pemerintah Propinsi NTT yang bersifat edukatif dan bertujuan mengajak anak-anak usia sekolah (SLTP/SLTA) dari berbagai daerah di NTT untuk lebih mencintai potensi daerah, kebudayaan dan pariwisata di Propinsi NTT dengan mengikuti city tour ke Kota Kupang sebagai ibukota propinsi NTT
