red bull events 2015 has been an astonishing year for the Screen Rentals Department; we’ve delivered an incredible volume of events, built on the financial achievements of 2014 and strengthened both the iCONIC fleet and our operational teams. While we have placed significant investment in existing products to ensure we continue offering unmatched quality and choice to our clients, a number of exciting new concepts are on the horizon which promise to deliver the next generation of mobile LED screen solutions. We believe these revolutionary products will make waves in the industry and shape the way LED technology is used at live events and experiential activation. 2015 has also witnessed the team secure a number of prestigious contracts, most notably Silverstone Circuit. This not only sees ADI supply world-class sports occasions like the F1 British Grand Prix and MotoGP, but we’ve worked closely with the client to help them achieve new levels of spectator experience by playing to our strengths in the size of our fleet, operational expertise and supporting services – and have done this to a level other suppliers cannot compete with. The F1 British Grand Prix 2015 saw ADI achieve an incredible feat; delivering the most LED ever seen at a UK live event, with a colossal 28 screens sited around the circuit to the delight of over 300,000 spectators. Other firsts include the unique and revolutionary digital solution we devised for the Qatar Goodwood Festival. With a significant sponsorship deal in place, this famous equestrian fixture witnessed the very first use of digiBOARD digital signage in UK horse racing to activate their headline sponsorship and bring a new aesthetic to the sport. This was universally well received and will continue to be utilised in the future.

ICONIC INVESTMENT AND EXPANSION In the past year our award-winning iCONIC fleet of mobile LED screens has received an upgrade to keep it looking the best on the market and a few new additions have joined the family – with more planned for 2016! Installing the digiBOARD

A DIGITAL ADDITION One of our colossal iCONIC 100s was specially chosen to receive a brand new feature; a 10,240mm strip of our market leading digiBOARD digital signage has been incorporated into the body of the trailer. The addition of digiBOARD provides endless opportunities for content that enriches the live audience experience and helps maximise commercialisation. Live social media feeds, news, stats and scores can scroll across the digital signage and compliment programming on the big screen above.

FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE In order to stay ahead of the game we continually invest in our iCONIC fleet to ensure clients have access to the highest resolution mobile LED screens. During 2015, we have re-screened 9 members of the iCONIC fleet, with the average resolution across the range now standing at 12mm. Every iCONIC 12, 15 and 25 in the fleet has been upgraded to a high resolution “+” version, and we can boast matching pairs of re-screened iCONIC 60s and i100s.

Plans for super high-resolution iCONIC 100+ screens are also in the pipeline due to the increasingly innovative way in which our clients are choosing to utilise the vast digital canvas the iCONIC 100s provide. As part of our busy winter build schedule, half of the fleet’s iCONIC 100s will have 12mm product installed ready for the 2016 summer event season.

REACHING NEW HEIGHTS Based on the world’s largest mobile LED screen on a non-HGV platform, ADI launched a new-look iCONIC 25+ at the start of the summer. Featuring an increased screen height of 3.4metre, they are designed to provide enhanced versatility and functionality for organisers.

PREMIUM POP-UP

An upgraded iCONIC 60 inside the Emirates Stadium

In 2016, ADI will reveal a brand new mobile LED screen concept to the market, which offers new opportunities for event hospitality and experiential brand experiences. We’ve combined a premium ‘pop-up’ event space with cuttingedge AV, LED display technologies and sleek design and finishes. Event organisers, brands and agencies will be able to create high-end and immersive encounters for the public via our fully self-contained and exclusive solution.

ADI delivered innovative solutions at the start and finish of this technically challenging event, with a vast site and huge scale of occasion. Over 38,000 runners congregated across three assembly areas in Blackheath, with separate Red, Green and Blue start lines. ADI supplied an iCONIC mobile screen and single camera OB at each assembly area, along with the creation of dedicated live programming for broadcast pre-start. ADI’s solution delivered an essential communication platform for the race organisers and served to link the three separate start lines - offering insight into what’s going on at each location. Song requests from the crowds, celebrity VT’s and messages of support were combined with important race information and timings. A separate ADI team could be found on The Mall (above) which hosted the finish. An iCONIC 25+ was located outside the gates of Buckingham Palace with the iFLY 25 sited further up the famous tree-lined avenue. Broadcasting live BBC feeds, the iCONIC screens helped build excitement and anticipation for spectators before the arrival of the elite runners and wheelchair racers, followed by the masses - with a record total of 37,500 finishers.

Those also in attendance during practice and qualifying were able to enjoy live footage on our large viewing screens strategically located across Silverstone circuit. Working with Creative Technology, we delivered 28 LED displays which varied in size from 12m² to a colossal 100m². The sheer range of screens in the iCONIC fleet ensured we could provide an ideal solution for each area of the venue, with many of the largest displays facing onto the grandstands and smaller screens within hospitality zones and outdoor spectators hubs. Modular screens were flown from the pit lane and were visible by the main stage area that hosted live music performances. On race day there was plenty of drama on the track, and every second was broadcast live on all 28 mobile and modular screens. Additionally, the majority of screens were fed HD quality feeds for the first time resulting in greater clarity and richer colour. No doubt bolstered by the home crowds Lewis Hamilton took the race, signalling the perfect end of UK motorsport’s most iconic and popular event, and a successful weekend for the ADI team.

RETAIL THERAPY

Our enviable portfolio of shopping centre and retail installations has continued to grow in 2015

SECOND SCREEN FOR THE BULLRING

THE PLACE TO BE

Birmingham’s most popular shopping destination enhanced its digital media portfolio with investment in a second LED screen. The financial and experiential value derived from their initial media screen – installed by ADI in December 2012 – encouraged the centre to procure an identical large format display for the Upper Mall East. Brand advertisers in JC Decaux’s M-Vision network can now target shoppers passing through the main thoroughfares of Bullring’s Upper Level and engage them when they are in the ideal mind-set to purchase.

As part of an extensive re-development, Bolton Market Place Shopping Centre took ownership of a 25m² indoor screen which is designed to deliver an enhanced experience for visitors with engaging and interactive content. While many shopping centres use large-format LED screens purely as a platform for Out of Home Media, Bolton Market Place have bucked the trend and realised its potential for creating more immersive and enjoyable experiences for their visitors. The screen also helps to support retail tenants, drive repeat visits and establish a hub for live events and social activities inside the centre.

ADI have been hugely impressive. The quality of the screen speaks for itself, but their ongoing support and service & maintenance has made ownership a pleasure and also meant that ADI were the natural choice of supplier when we looked to add a further screen to our centre’s digital portfolio.

PUBLIC ART PIECE FOR MOTOR GIANT It’s not often you get to work on such a creative project for one of the most iconic car brands in the world! Jaguar Land Rover’s state-of-the-art Castle Bromwich facility has been transformed through the creation of a dynamic media wall. A project conceptualised by Wash Design and installed by ADI has turned the otherwise industrial façade into a striking public art piece incorporating multiple LED screen and lighting elements.

ABOUT CASTLE BROMWICH At Castle Bromwich Jaguar Land Rover manufacture some of the world’s most technically advanced cars; the powerful Jaguar X type and innovative XJ, with plans for the next generation XF to also be built on-site. Jaguar Land Rover has made a significant investment in the plant, demonstrating not just their commitment to motor manufacturing in the UK, but also to the local area. In addition to cutting-edge machinery and engineering processes inside, the facility has become a digital public art piece in its own right, providing the public with an insight into the innovative manufacturing that goes on within its walls, as well as displaying an ever-changing series of creative and visually engaging content.

Content will change throughout the year to represent the seasonality of nature and the brand’s products

UNIQUE PROJECT

CREATIVE CONTENT

Preston-based agency Wash Design proposed an initial concept that ADI turned into a workable installation, aiming to meet the global brand’s vision of creating a ‘window into the factory’. This allows the public to have a rare glimpse inside the inner workings of one of the world’s most iconic car manufacturers, while establishing a new local landmark.

Content is an essential part of the project, with specially shot footage and edited programming created through a collaboration between Wash Design and ADI’s in-house Production team. Initial themes include environmental and landscape cinematography, footage shot on the production lines and 3D animations of Jaguar car parts.

In order to maximise visual impact, ADI aimed to cover as much of the 200m² side of the building, which was achieved through the combination of multiple AV elements. LED wall wash lighting, 2,500 individual LED nodes and a uniquely shaped 62m² LED screen.

ADI’s Production department have also created a custom Content Management System for the project, allowing co-ordination of content across the entire installation.

Bolton Wanderers The Macron Stadium’s digital ‘makeover’ has seen the launch of a new fan engagement and commercial platform, including the installation of Europe’s first portrait LED stadia screen. An innovative and untraditional format, the vertical screen provides a new take on the matchday experience and enhanced creativity for programming – which is delivered by ADI’s Production team via Live Venue. The new LED screen formed part of a wider content-delivery platform within the stadium, which also included the installation of a new Stadium TV and StatZone network by Eleven Sports Media; one of the ADI group of companies. Completing the transformation, ADI installed a new perimeter LED system, featuring a crowd-facing display capable of delivering in-play match stats and social media content.

The new digital assets inside Macron Stadium created a new commercial platform for the club - creating opportunities for brands and regional advertisers to ensure a strong financial return within the initial season.

Middlesbrough Football Club Middlesbrough FC’s Riverside Stadium has also witnessed a first in football; the installation of a revolutionary 360° digital perimeter display. Over 400 metres of ADI’s digiBOARD system – the UK’s leading brand – extends to all four sides of the Boro pitch. Not only does this deliver a hugely powerful stadium advertising platform, but the option for crowd facing displays offers new opportunities for fan interaction during the game.

Having worked with ADI we know first-hand that they deliver the highest quality solutions and are leaders in their field. In addition to transforming the appearance of the stadium, the digital platform will offer incredible value for our sponsors whilst improving the experience for fans.
