Hello everyone, If I could ask God to fulfill one of my top most wishes, it would be to rewind this month of June and get me back to May so that I could fix up my deeds to have a perfect June 2018 with lesser sorrow and pain. This issue is dedicated to my beloved father Late Mr.Ashok L.Pardeshi who passed away on the 11th June 2018 in Mumbai, India. My father lived a common man's life, worked for 32 years with Dena Bank while Papa, keep smiling up there as you were in this photo running a successful business in parallel which taken on our tram ride to ‘The Peak’ in Hong Kong. helped our family's transition from being a poor I will miss you for my entire life. family living in a chawl to now becoming a wellto-do family (at least in India). All thanks to you Papa for your tremendous hard-work, dedication and business acumen. I will always try to abide by your principles of life and livelihood.

Going in the flashback of days when my father took me literally every day to the narrow streets of Princess Street, Buleshwar, Chor Bazaar, Crawford market, just in a vain to find the best deals of products which we could sell in our shop. I remember since then till now, living a normal life for a common man in Mumbai is still so difficult and complicated. Terrible water clogging during rainy season, 3-4 hrs of your productive time daily in traffic and commutation, unnecessary chaos and fights for small things, clean-up Mumbai failure all over, and more banners & hoardings of politicians rather than brands, products and social messages makes me feel that this thing has no end and the so-called Ache Din will never come. There may be some of you who might say why the fxxk am I spoiling our country's name on an international level wherein other countries are facing even worse situations than ours, but my friends its not to spoil the name but to awaken the dead souls of us, we cannot leave our happy life's in Hong Kong and go there to improve things, but can surely keep the agony within us, to talk about it with someone somewhere. Voices of millions talking have more probability of reaching to that one right system change initiator, rather than no one talking and just saying ‘that's the way it is and we just live with our mentality of jaisa desh waisa bhesh'.

‘Cover Story' by our new and extremely talented writer Rupak Chatterjee talks about wanting great independent leaders rather than politicians. Our honourable PM Shri Narendra Modiji was a big ray of hope of being this independent and new-age leader, but the way things still look from a common man's perspective it seems to be getting more difficult every day. But, here's some good news, whenever we are in a crisis, God helps us and provides us with some good Samaritans to cheer up and we have some precious jewels in Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi and the King of good times (doubt many of his employees would agree) Vijay Mallya.

‘Top Story' by our regular and talented writer talks about TACIT KNOWLEDGE, which literally means knowledge that can only be learnt by observation, practical experience and repetitive practice, it's not something that's documented somewhere and yet is the most important one which comes naturally from an individual. Readers will see some follow-up articles on this topic in future issues.

‘In the Mood' has a humorous article by Rupak Chatterjee on Rakshabandhan. We all have our crazy school days stories of Rakshabandhan, when we wanted the Rakhi's only from our real sisters and either ended up getting one from our crush at school or lived with the fear of getting one from her on that day. Thanks for Paresh, Jeet, Faiz and Shubradeep for sharing their crazy Rakhi stories.

‘Aunty MVP' is back due to public demand from this issue onwards. Our regular columnist Mrs. Poonam Mehta has been brought back to give her expert comments on some of the craziest questions received from our locals. Make sure you read, follow, share this column and please do send me your questions directly to gaurav@adesiflava.com, anonymity and secrecy is guaranteed.

This issue would be very special to my heart as its dedicated to my father. So please read and share your comments with me directly. On this occasion, we pay tribute to Indian heroes in their struggle towards India's Independence as we remember and revere the strength of Indian democratic system which brings the spirit of unity in the diverse culture that exists in India.

India and Hong Kong share lot of commonalities. Both are connected through business as well as through culture. Both India and Hong Kong share pluralism and diversity, and this has contributed to better understanding of each other. The Indian community in Hong Kong has acted as a connecting bridge between the functioning of the Government on both the sides. The Indian Government has given strong impetus on connecting overseas Indian with their roots.

hile religion remains to be the “sigh of the oppressed; the opium of the people” all its symbolisms seem to capture centre stage, no mind can be free…no head can be held high. The divisive caste arithmetic, religious fanaticism, an allout attack on intellectual think-tank’s, crushing of free voices and independent journalists seem to be on the spot light. Our Independence is indeed crushed into fragments and divided by narrow domestic walls. Pew Research Center analysis of 198 countries ranked India as fourth worst in the world for religious intolerance.

How much economic development has there really been in the last so many years? While the game of thrones is all about retaining power, is there really no accountability of political parties to ensure that Independent socio-political thinking in this country has some depth? Is the country cruising without a proper agenda? The incumbent Government promised creation of one crore jobs about four years ago. Yet, the 2016-17 Economic Survey, based on data from the labour ministry, stated: “Employment growth has been sluggish.”

Is it the Independent India where we have to prove our nationalism at every turn of the road, or justify what we eat or wear? How is it that any political party can come to power promising a million things, and then just turn the game around altogether once it gets there? Is this the independent India that our predecessors dreamt of?

We need Independence of our institutions and how, if at all, we are constantly researching and innovating means to improve them. Political parties will come and go in government.

But as citizens it is our right, to ensure that we stop being passive consumers of what’s fed to us though campaigns, social media platforms and find a way to make ourselves truly Independent.

The current Independent India signals the intellectual bankruptcy that its leaders showcase. Independent intellectuals are bankrupt as there are no takers!!!

If India aspires to lead the world, we need leaders who can inspire the youth towards worldclass education, high level innovation, global problem solving expertise; and not half-baked, parochial, unscientific and populist bread crumbs thrown to the masses. The NDA government's major contribution has been

to starve the education sector of funding. By drastically slashing funding for the University Grants Commission (UGC) by 55 per cent, the NDA has effectively put the higher education sector in deep freeze. This has resulted in massive hike in the fees resulting in vacancy of over 6,000 seats in the IITs, IIMs and NITs, and over 7,000 in Delhi University Our PM had made a promise that he would bring back black money stashed in foreign banks and deposit 15 lakhs of rupees in each Indian citizen’s bank account. However, years have passed and the promise continues to be unfulfilled.

India needs Independent leaders not politicians.

It needs a political discourse where we ask tough questions about measuring rather than straightaway believing in ‘acche din’, where we do not surrender our freedom of choice and freedom of mind. We need a discourse where our leaders dig deep, show us what’s

between the lines, the truth behind a mere contest of facts and claims.

We need Independence of our institutions and how, if at all, we are constantly researching and innovating means to improve them.

of demonetisation and the GST on the masses need to be studied. The yardstick of any currency it its corresponding value to a US dollar. Since Independence, we have consistently lost a rupee to a US dollar, every single year. A rupee was worth a dollar in 1947!!!

It’s been 70 years since India’s independence. While we started with really low levels of literacy, the massive population of India’s literate youth owes it to Indian democracy to ask real hard questions and prove that they deserve democracy.

Indian youth needs to set

right the political discourse by turning the tables, by taking the reins and bringing relevant issues centre stage.

We need to measure political Independence through the quality of questions that we are willing to raise. Has India’s teeming population below poverty line seen any succour? Are people less hungry, better housed, fully clothed? Are our streets ready to face the next monsoon?

Most importantly, do we sit around meals, knowing that we are all different and yet one? If we can vouch for the

trust and respect we have for each other, then alone is our national fabric secured. But if we see ourselves judging one another, scared to question, ready to submit, then clearly the discourse in this country will only churn out politicians who know well how to play us off against each other.

We may celebrate our 70th Independence Day, but we have a long way ahead. We face internal as well as external challenges.

We could only be called Independent when we are led by people with a vision. As we gear up to vote in 2019,

let’s ensure that as people of India, we give our leaders a clear signal that we want our country to awake “into the heaven of freedom”

How do seasons affect colours and patterns?

ow do you feel when you attend a party and people tell

same words, accentuating each vowel!) That is “topof-the-world” feeling. And in most of the cases, it is choice of your dress that does that extra magic! Split the hairs and you will know that the real magic lies in choosing the right type of colours according to the season. But we did more... splitting several layers of hair- colours, patterns, time of the day and of course- the

season! Here’s the platter for you to savour:

Winters The Blue hue rules the winters. Why? Simply because Blue is in the sky, especially in winters. Wearing Blue colours will give you a soothing semblance and nature-happy look but save yourself from blue-overdose that looks oh-so-boring! Be Girlish and go for contrasts that pop out effortlessly.

During the Day: Red and Yellow patterns look great against an azure background.

When opting for red, avoid being “Loud” and prefer eyefriendly resolution.

She is the person you want to take to the movies. She is the one you want to dance with, Hrithik-style, in a club.

She is your companion of choice when it comes to long, romantic drives. Come Rakshabandhan however,

this same woman will tie a red, yellow, or heaven forbid, Spiderman-themed rakhi on your wrist, casually and callously!

Women have turned this cherished festival into something of a weapon.

The probability of you falling victim to it this Rakshabandhan is the same as PM Modi delivering a new Mann ki Baat on Sunday.

Puberty, exposure to the college life, expectations from parents, handling generation gap, fantasies and what not. Once you are around 18 years old you also have an additional pressure of being a legal adult. And in the midst of this rebel phase and turmoil in life, a newly turned man is hoping to find the love of his life. Guess who are the best people to help is this situation? Your friends of course. So I had this loving dear friend Natasha.

We lived in the same locality since childhood and grew up together. She was my Rakhi sister and we used to celebrate the festival every year as I didn’t have a real sister.

Natasha's uncle had married a British lady and their whole family was visiting them. They had a gorgeous daughter, about my age – Nicole. We met and clicked instantly. We shared quite a lot of interests like dance music and hiking. She was very pretty and nice blue eyes which I loved to stare into. We

both were talkative creatures and would keep chatting about everything under the sun for hours almost every day. We used to lose track of time and often ended up saying reluctant goodbyes for the day. I was so thankful to Natasha for getting Nicole in my life.

It was the month of August, and friendship's day was just around the corner. I got the prettiest band for Nicole and a nice gift too. On Saturday night Nicole called up to inform me, she went out with Natasha to buy a band for me. I was delighted and on top of the world. On Sunday I was super excited, all decked up and went to meet Nicole. Natasha and Nicole were happy to see me. To my horror, I saw her getting the RAKHI for me. She said "I wanted to tie this band type thing to you too just like Natasha did every year, you are so sweet. I wanted to do it today as I am flying back to London tomorrow".

Idiot me, didn’t realize that Raksha-bandhan was just in couple of days. So now I had 2 Rakhi sisters and my friendship day's gift got converted into an unfortunate Rakshabandhan gift.

It was the beginning of a new academic year in school.

We had just moved to Ninth Standard. Puberty was

just kicking in and we had finally begun to understand the gender dynamics. I had also shifted from being the studious boy to being a naughty mischief maker.

My neatly combed hair had become disheveled. My neatly tucked in shirt had become unevenly tucked in.

There was a newly found confidence that I had started flaunting around. She was new to the school. Her name was Shreya Bhatnagar. As soon as I would see her anywhere; my heart would start thumping loudly and I would stand there mesmerized by her presence.

Even during a class; I usually turned by head in her direction umpteen numbers of times. Anyone else would have got a neck sprain. But I kept staring at her endlessly.

My fascination grew on a daily basis and now she had started noticing it.

looked me straight in the eye, held my hand and in a very sincere tone expressed her sisterly love for me, of course completely oblivious to the fact that she had ruthlessly destroyed the beautiful kingdom of love that I had so meticulously built in the past few weeks.

From that day on the festival of Rakhi, which featured as No 5 on my list of favorite festivals dipped to No 10. “My case was the other way round. There was girl in the neighborhood with whom I

was quite friendly. We often used be together with friends at socials. I used to adore her wit and would really enjoy her company. However, It seems I send wrong signals.

Tacit Knowledge We know more than we can tell

ne of the essential managerial terms that are gaining a wide popularity in management training field is Tacit Knowledge Sharing.

While the term is already popular in the management

field, it would only be appropriate to start our topic with a brief explanation for the sake of formatting it properly.

What is Tacit Knowledge?

Tacit knowledge is a form of knowledge that does not have a specific or standard written/verbal format in which it can be transferred to an individual. For example, you can tell that adding 250 ml of water to a bowl of wheat flour will be enough to

knead it into the dough. This is the explicit knowledge.

However you cannot "explain" in standard words about the force to be applied, movement of wrist and fingers and the exact amount of time needed to knead the dough. That is the tacit part of knowledge and it is best left to the individual to learn by themselves in general cases (mostly through hit and try approach). For specific knowledge like learning people management skills to some specific coach,

mentor or trainer is required to impart the knowledge.

Some tacit knowledge examples There is no book or any form of explicit structured knowledge that can teach a person how to ride a bicycle hit a ball to score maximum sixes, play the piano or acquire communication skills. Such information can only be gained via tacit knowledge approach.

Extracting real life benefits The individual acquires a decent part of the tacit knowledge via his or her own

experiences that equip him/ her with the required skills to extract real-life benefits out of the same or use the knowledge in the desired manner to solve the real-life situations.  For example, a guide to cricket rules can help a person to know what a six is and how to decide when you really need one. That is an explicit knowledge.

However, it cannot teach a person to apply the right kind of force and move the bat in just the right direction before hitting it- in order to hit a six! It is a tacit knowledge that cannot be transferred explicitly.  Understandably, it is this (and similar instances of) tacit intelligence that prepares the successful batsmen that can play a game-changing role in any match.

 Hence there is the need for the coach with the best tacit knowledge sharing skills that prepares a batsman with the help of repeated practices, correcting their postures and movements and also preparing them via many instances of net practices.  So, we see that while explicit knowledge can offer the introductory part of any knowledge, ultimately it is the tacit knowledge sharing that makes a person fit to apply that knowledge in the desired manner during real-life experiences.

Manipulating the knowledge to get best benefits Another major advantage of tacit knowledge sharing is that it allows a person to understand the different aspects of the knowledge

and use it flexible to gain the desired results.  For example, in order to hit maximum sixes, the person cannot always use the same force or movements.  The movement and force depend upon the speed of the ball, pitch conditions, the way the ball is thrown (spinning etc.). Here we see that the batsman is able to "manipulate the knowledge" in multiple ways to ascertain the best benefit irrespective of the varying conditions. This quality can only be gained via tacit knowledge sharing.

Open ended knowledge One of the major advantages of tacit knowledge is that due to its informal structure it is an openly ended knowledge

that allows and encourages a person to continue the process of learning and developing. There isn't a boundary that defines the limits of tacit knowledge and that is the real beauty of this knowledge. That is why we can see that in many cases the influential managers, mentors, businessperson, artists, and sportsmen keep on developing ahead even years after they formally learned a skill or studied their field. The reason is the open-ended structure offered by the tacit knowledge that allows them to continue learning and development.

Here again, we can use the example of the batsman stated in the above example, the successful street batsman is turned into a prating state batsman and then shines as a national batsman with a great success. However, there is a curve involved in

Disadvantages of tacit Knowledge sharing Apart from several advantages there are some disadvantages of tacit knowledge sharing too. Here are a few of them: No uniform established form of formal transferring One of the major disadvantages of tacit knowledge sharing is that there is no established method or manner in which one can note down this knowledge or transfer it from one entity to the other in its real original

form and impact. Hence in terms of a workplace, the tacit knowledge cannot be handed over by the successful employee when he leaves or retires. So the tacit knowledge (in its original form) is gone with the employee when e leaves a company. Ironically it is this tacit knowledge sharing that produces a huge number of other successful employees but due to its inexplicit form, there is no way this key asset can be retained by a company in a definite manner. That is why many corporate houses or successful businesses fail when the influential Coos or key personnel retire or leave the company.

Interferes with healthy competition The competition is a part and parcel of the corporate sector that pushes a business

to do better than their competitors. So, many of the aspects of competitors' business are deeply studied and the effective measured steps are taken to ensure better performance on those fronts. However, due to the nature of the tacit knowledge another company cannot replicate or outpace the advantages gained by their competitors that act as a boundary for the healthy competition.

Besides it is one of the major reasons that might also compel some businesses to lean towards unethical ways to gain a cutting edge over tear competitors by trying to "snatch" the tacit knowledge (or key personnel’s) of their competitors using the greed factor that can be presented in terms of higher packages, better career growth or more powers with an improved title.

Can be used to mislead by clever individuals Another major disadvantage of the tacit knowledge is tam, unlike explicit knowledge it cannot be "measured" using the specific yardsticks. Hence, in many cases, it is possible that the professional claiming to specialize in a certain form of the tacit knowledge may not have that expertise. Such professionals might "gloss over their shortcomings with the help of clever tricks. We can see that while there are a number of the excellent mentor who can produce otherworld class results with their lectures and training sessions, there are many others who claim to be mentors but lack the key skills. However due to the clever "cosmetic makeup" of associated skills like communication skills, body language and personal traits they "appear" genuine.

Likewise, there are many artists who really don't have the best talent or skills but it is due to their deceiving yet impressive presentation skills that they gain a public support and earn a handsome amount.

I am expecting my second child but in-laws seem to be ignoring the fact that I might have mood swings so any single stupidest mistake is becoming a mountain of problems from their side
