Accessibility Guide 2025
This guide has been designed in black and white and large print to be more accessible for people who are low-vision.

Heather Croall AM Director and Chief Executive
We are ready for a wonderful and accessible Adelaide Fringe 2025! After a massive 2024 festival where we sold one million tickets, Adelaide Fringe continues to grow in attendance and offering, with our program becoming more diverse each year.
We were elated to be recognised for our efforts in accessibility at the 2024 South Australian Tourism Awards, recently taking out the Excellence in Accessible Tourism category. This recognition continues our efforts from the 2023 festival, where we also took nationally. Of course, we recognise there is so much more we can do, and this year have introduced even more initiatives to further improve our community support.
We work collaboratively with JFA Purple Orange to continue our community-led approach in how we can be more inclusive and supportive of people with disabilities. We are proud to be partnering with Breakthrough Foundation, Guide Dogs SA/ NT, Access2Arts, Autism SA, Deaf Connect, and SACare to ensure we are moving forward for a more inclusive festival. Happy Fringe-ing!

Tara MacLeod Executive Director Operations and Finance
Adelaide Fringe continues to work closely with our Artists, Venues and Partners. We are thrilled to see an increase in the number of shows with accessibility provisions this year. Fringe has updated its accessibility icons to better communicate access to venues for audiences and remain fully dedicated to delivering a world-class festival for everyone. We continue to make our festival more accessible, including staff training to recognise hidden disabilities and Human Guiding, visual communication boards, ear defenders, and hearing loops at box offices, venue accessibility videos and social stories for venues, an accessibility booking phone line, and low-sensory areas for all Fringe-run events.
Whether you have an accessibility requirement or someone you care for does, we hope this guide enhances your Fringe experience!
Welcome • Niina Marni!
Adelaide Fringe recognises Kaurna Miyurna Yarta (Adelaide Plains people’s Land) and all First Nations people and their ancestral lands and waterways on which Fringe lives, operates and learns. The lands were never ceded and remain as important to the living Kaurna people today. We pay respect to the Kaurna people and their Elders past and present.
Adelaide Fringe will also take place across several traditional language, social and nation groups across the state: we also acknowledge these traditional lands.
Fringe events take place across 19 different traditional language, social and Nation groups:
Adnyamathanha, Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara, Arabana, Barngarla, Bindjali, Bunganditj, Boandik, Karta Pintingga, Kaurna, Kokatha, Meintangk, Meru, Narungga, Ngadjuri, Ngarkat, Ngarrindjeri, Nhawu, Nukunu, and Peramangk¹
¹Adelaide Fringe acknowledges the historical and emerging languages, social and nation groups of First Nations people. It is not intended to be exact.
We value each group and their people’s cultural, spiritual, physical and emotional connection with their lands, waterways and community. We acknowledge and embrace the significance and diversity of First Nations people’s contributions to our Fringe and the arts.

Meet our 2025 Ambassadors

Michelle Brasier
“Art has to be for everyone or there is no point in making it. I’m here to support artists and venues working to make their accessibility goals a reality and, as always, to stand in the road in front of rideshare drivers who refuse to take people’s service dogs. Accessibility is about doing what we can to expand a system built for one set of needs so that it can bend and stretch to suit many more. When we don’t make those changes, especially for artists, it is the audience that loses.” ‘It’s a Shame We Won’t Be Friends Next Year’ 4-9 March, Gluttony.

Nancy Bates
“As a 2025 Adelaide Fringe Ambassador I want to champion artists passionately, and remind all South Australians of the important role we play in reflecting our values, fostering connections, and inspiring a better political and social landscape. It is important that the arts is accessible for all and the work the Fringe does in this space is critical.”
‘Nancy Bates & Friends’ 6 & 7 March, The Arts Theatre.

Rhys Nicholson
“Whatever someone’s situation is, there should never be barriers when it come to consuming art. For example, no one should be denied the chance to see a rapidly ageing comedian metaphorically (and literally) scream into the void. The Fringe has to be in a constant state of flux as we endeavour to make sure everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has a chance to experience it all.”
‘Rhys Nicholson: Huge Big party Congratulations’, 13-15 March, Hindley Street Music Hall.

Teresa Palmer
“Accessibility is at the heart of the Adelaide Fringe, and it’s something I’m truly passionate about. From sensory-friendly performances to wheelchair access and options for those with hearing or vision impairments, making the festival accessible means creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. I’ll be advocating to ensure that art is accessible to all.”
Mark Webber, Teresa’s husband, in ‘YOU ARE GOING TO DIE’, 15-16 March, Gluttony.
