Sleep Lane Smiles For both Richard and Alyson’s surgeries, they chose an A-dec 500 chair with Cyan coloured sewn upholstery to match their brand colours. In addition to that, they selected an A-dec LED track-mounted light and cabinet-mounted twelve o’clock delivery system for both rooms. For the hygienists’ room they decided upon an A-dec 300 chair, again with Cyan sewn upholstery to offer their patients a comfortable and plush experience during their treatments. Thackeray Dental Care Simon Thackeray says, “When planning a surgery refurbishment, my advice definitely would be to visit the showroom and take your nurse! What works for you might not work for the nurse, and what appears to be a great design might be ergonomically unsuitable. And it’s certainly worth going for the best quality you can. Finally, experiment with different layouts in the showroom in order to get it right, even if that means discarding traditional layout ideas. With regards to patient opinion, they love it! The arm-suspended 22” TV which doubles as a Playstation, Bluray and Radiograph gets most comment, closely followed by the massively comfortable chair. The green is a very striking colour for the chair, and has only had positive remarks.”

PerioSouth Dr Richard Tucker bought a practice in Southampton from a retiring colleague and moved it to nearby Winchester with a view to modernising and upgrading its facilities. The practice was functioning well, so Richard wanted to mirror this with new larger premises, taking into consideration the new HTM 01-05 guidelines. The premises chosen were some converted barns at Bunstead Barns in Hursleynear Winchester. Richard’s priority with regards to the equipment was functionality and reliability.
