Without these opportunities puppies

can grow to adults that begin to show fear towards people and other dogs by one year old. This class aims to give you the tools you need with hands on short training sessions, off-leash socialization, and written material to help you create a foundation of learning. Don’t wait until your dog is an unruly adolescent, get your puppy started on the right foot with this class. See the supply list below. $70 for seven weeks for Residents and $75.00 for Non Residents. Scholarships are available for rescue pups. Adult Dog Play- Sundays 10:45-11:00 $5 drop in fee and trainer approved dogs only. Often included is beginner agility, nosework, retrieval, games and tricks like biscuit balance, distance catch, roundup challenge, doggie dash, playing dead, shake, wave, etc. These activities end up with training opportunities like reliable sit-and down-stays, good recalls, and greater willingness for your dog to pay attention to you. Bring your family and friends to watch and laugh while your team (you and your dog) perform! Eligible dogs: Must have completed basic training class here or with another trainer. Wednesday, November 30 at 7 p.m. “An Address in Amsterdam” Author Mary Fillmore will talk about the 13-yearlong creation of An Address in Amsterdam, an historical novel about a young Jewish woman who joins the underground. Fictional Rachel Klein must grow up fast when she decides to take a stand against the Nazi occupiers, alongside an artist who became a forger, a librarian who is an underground leader, and a former student who assassinates betrayers of the resistance. Wednesday, December 7 at 7 p.m. “Wallace Stevens and the Art of the Empty Mind” In the early 20th century, Wallace Stevens set out to clear away a Romantic view of nature and see the world freshly in his distinctly modern poetry. Inspired by experimental movements in the visual arts coming from Europe, and cultivating a lush poetic language, he nevertheless imagined that an empty mind was required in order to perceive the world. In this lecture, Amy Hungerford, Professor of English and Dean of Humanities at Yale, will demonstrate how Stevens’ poetry lends us his eyes and his singularly open mind as readers today. A First Wednesdays talk. Wednesday, January 4 at 7 p.m.“What if Poor Women Ran the World?” Labor historian Annelise Orleck tells the story of nine African-American union maids in Las Vegas during the 1970’s who challenged welfare cuts and built a long-lasting, vibrant anti-poverty program run by poor mothers. A First Wednesdays talk.
