What is insulin?

• Insulin is an essential hormone which is made by Pancreas . It is directly associated with, or related to, the amount of food we eat.

• Its main function is to manage blood sugar level.

• As more and more food we eat, blood sugar increases.

• And this causes increased insulin secretion in our body to bring the blood sugar level down to normal (100mg/dl), usually within two hours.

How Insulin works in our body?

1. Energy is created from food; body uses the energy as much as it requires. But what does body do with the extra energy?

2. Here insulin plays a very crucial role. Rise in glucose triggers your pancreas to release insulin into the bloodstream.

3. Insulin travels through the blood to your body's cells.

It tells the cells to open up and let the glucose in.

Insulin resistance, Type-2 diabetes

1. It’s a condition when the body is unable to move glucose into the cells for fuel. In this situation body resist to accept the Insulin hormone.

2. To counter body’s resistance, the pancreas will create more insulin.
