MINING FOR GOLD I have always loved a good adventure and love to explore. Whether that’s a new neighborhood opening up near me, or a new city that I have traveled to for the rst me; climbing the ladders to the cli dwellings of Mesa Verde, or walking to the highest point of Athens, Greece, or exploring a water fall on a Missions Trip to Ecuador. I love to travel, see di erent cultures, and especially experience the history of each place. I used to enjoy spelunking (caving), especially in my college days. I’ve crawled this 6’7” frame through a lot of ght spaces to nd some great caverns. I used to be fascinated, as a young man, touring The Lost Sea in Tennessee – the world’s second-largest underground lake - where you could take boat rides in the dark cavern. My daughter and I have taken the breathtaking plunging swing ride out over the Royal Gorge. When our kids were li le, especially my son, they used to love to “mine” for gold in places like Silver Dollar City or Rock City. I’ve gone down into abandoned silver mines in Colorado on family vaca on. My son and one of my daughters went with me, but Ginger and my other daughter ditched us and went shopping! There are some wonders you won’t discover unless you do a li le digging and mine for them! I’ve o en been asked what my favorite verse is. I have many so it’s hard to narrow it down. One of the most frequent that I give is a simple, concise, somewhat obscure verse from a Minor Prophet – Nahum 1:7. One reason I give that verse is because it normally makes the person have to go look it up! SO… go look it up! This is only my second ar cle and I’m already giving you homework. Let me give you some more. Returning to the theme I started in my last ar cle regarding prayer, I would urge you to read the rst ve Psalms. I want us to mine for some nuggets in these Psalms regarding prayer. Nugget #1 – WE SHOULD PUT THE WORD INTO OUR PRAYERS! (Psalm 1) How do we become people who “whatever we do prospers?” “…delight in the law of the Lord…” and “meditate on it day and night.” Nugget #2 – WE MUST SIMPLY ASK! (Psalm 2) “Ask of me, and I will make the na ons your inheritance… When HIS desires and ours line up, the Supernatural happens! Nugget #3 – SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO CRY OUT TO GOD FOR THE ANSWER! (Psalm 3:4) We need to be desperate for God to move in our lives! Like Bar maeus in the Bible, we need to cry out – “JESUS, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Nugget #4 – GOD ANSWERS THE RIGHTEOUS (Psalm 4:3) Our Father God knows who His kids are, and He responds to their call! He knows my name! That’s what I love about Nahum 1:7 – have you looked it up yet? “Does He who implanted the ear not hear?” (Psalm 94:9a) Nugget #5 – EXPECT AN ANSWER! (Psalm 5:3) Wait in expecta on! That’s called FAITH! Believe that God hears you when you pray, because HE DOES! Let’s believe again!

It has been a whirlwind of a start serving the Alabama Ministry Network! Kelly and I want to express our deep gra tude to everyone who has shown us such kindness during this season of transi on. In considering what to share for this Messenger ar cle, I rst thought it might be useful to answer the ques on: “What does the Secretary-Treasurer actually do?” The Network’s bylaws provide a formal list of tasks assigned to this role, but just three months into serving, I am beginning to see a much broader picture. The best place to start describing the role is by instead answering the ques on, “Who do I serve?” I believe we would all say that our labor in ministry is centered on serving Christ. But as I serve Christ in this role, I am also gaining a deeper understanding of those around me whom I am called to serve as well: ·Our Network Superintendent – We have a tremendous, godly leader in Greg Kelley. In my role, I align with and support his vision for this Network. My o ce serves his o ce in implemen ng that vision, strategically resourcing our priori es, and responding to the needs of our Network ministers and churches. ·Our Directors – We are blessed with great leaders in various departments and ministries throughout our Network. I believe in what each of them is called to do. My o ce supports these ministries in prac cal and prayerful ways, looking for opportuni es to say “yes” and further their vision as it aligns with the mission of this Network. ·Our Network Leaders – Alabama has selected people of great skill and character to serve on our Network Execu ve Commi ee, as General Presbyters, and as Presbyters and Sec onal Commi ee members covering our 15 geographic sec ons. Beyond that, I have the privilege of serving on various commi ees that focus on key areas of ministry. One of the joys of this job so far is working alongside these leaders on speci c projects and ini a ves to move our Network forward. I am just beginning to realize the valuable roles these ministers carry, with most serving the Network as volunteers and out of the over ow of their busy lives. ·Our Ministers and Churches – This is where I will nd the greatest joy in this job: being able to come alongside those who serve in the local church se ng, where I have spent the majority of my life. Being a resource that helps churches improve what they do is a true passion for me. Many of my future Messenger entries will speak to speci c topics and prac ces that can help our ministers and churches both guard what God has given them and grow their capacity to advance His kingdom. And as Kelly and I are privileged to visit your churches, we come simply to bless and encourage our pastors and their families. ·Our Future Ministers and Rising Leaders – It is very exci ng to oversee the creden aling func on of this Network. Ful lling this task includes suppor ng the Alabama School of Ministry (ALSOM) as an e ec ve educa onal op on. The tes ng, applica on, and interviewing processes are all managed by this o ce as we both welcome new ministers and upgrade exis ng ministers pursuing higher levels of creden als and leadership. We have a great need in Alabama to raise up the next genera on of Pentecostal ministers to lead and grow the churches in this fellowship. This o ce works in lockstep with other Network ini a ves to help Alabama’s sons and daughters answer the calling God is placing on their lives. It hasn’t taken me long to understand that this job is bigger than me. In addi on to the many people and groups served by my o ce, I recognize that God has built an amazing support structure around me: Jennifer Harris is the caring voice you most likely hear when you rst contact my o ce. She serves as my Execu ve Assistant and is our Creden aling Specialist and ALSOM Administrator. As one of our creden aled ministers herself, Jennifer brings a remarkable combina on of knowledge, produc vity, and compassion to our team. Nancy Wya oversees our Accoun ng O ce. As a full-charge bookkeeper, she is an experienced professional who manages all aspects of our day-to-day nancial opera ons of the Network with dedica on and diligence. As an accountant myself, I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate working with someone of her skill.

Speaker Highlight: Susanne Cox Susanne is an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God. She served as General Presbyter for the Southeast Region as well as on the National Women in Leadership Committee for the Assemblies of God. She experienced a miraculous salvation at age 31 which radically changed her life and positioned her to bring hope and encouragement to others. Susanne challenges and inspires her audience to be transformed by the Word of God and fulfill their divine destiny. Her unique blend of humor and honesty is refreshing and appealing to all generations. Susanne served as a missionary to Southern Asia before marrying Pastor Ron Cox of Kingwood Church in Alabaster, Alabama. Their ministry, Legacy of Purpose, has partnered with Project Rescue for decades. Susanne now serves on the Speaker Bureau for Project Rescue and partners with their mission to rescue and restore victims of sexual exploitation through the love and power of God. A book has been written on the story of their life, “Call It Incredible: The Ron and Susanne Cox Story”, and is available at www.legacyofpurpose.org as well as Kindle.

YOUTH CAMP 2026

We are so thankful to God that we were able to have four powerful weeks of youth camp lled with God’s anoin ng and His wonderful presence. This was our largest camp season ever! We hosted over 2,800 campers, leaders, and sta . God moved in mighty ways and we praise Him for the wonderful tes monies and reports that Have come from your students. I pray that you have seen evidence of change in your young people and adults who a ended camp, and have bene ted from the mighty touch of God they received. We would like to extend a big thank you to all of the pastors, youth pastors, minister’s spouses, lay leaders, and personnel who served a vital role in making these camps a huge success. A very special thank you is also in order for our incredible camp sta who played a crucial role in the success of youth camp. Few events and experiences touch the lives of young people in the way camp does, which proves we can accomplish more together than we ever could alone. IN LOVING memory of… Obituary for Rev. Elaine Anderson

With sadness, we share the passing of Elaine Pridgen Anderson of Geneva, Alabama. Elaine, born on December 1, 1948 and passed away on July 3, 2026. Sister Elaine was a liated with the Independent Assemblies of God Interna onal fellowship from 1974 un l 2001. In 2001, she became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. She ministered in the Geneva community during her me with the Assemblies of God. During her creden al interviews, she men oned to Brother Creamer, “God spoke to me as a young child and called me to preach the Gospel. Everything he told me then has proven to be so and thus far ful lled.” We are thankful that she answered the call that God had for her. She was predeceased by: her parents, J. C. Pridgen and Grace Wynell Johnson Pridgen; her husband William Earl Anderson; and her brother Timothy Pridgen. She is survived by: her children, Kim Cardwell (Mike) of Geneva, AL and David Anderson (Keri) of Geneva, AL; her grandchildren, Sara Dodson (Zack) of Geneva, AL, Jamey Cardwell (Anna) of Enterprise, AL, Hanna Garcia (Zach) of Geneva, AL and Asher Anderson of Geneva, AL; her great grandchildren, Levi Dodson, Gracie Dodson, Tristan Cardwell, Logan Dodson and Kendall Cardwell; her brother Lamar Pridgen (Theda) of Winter Haven, FL; her sister-in-law Susan Pridgen of Har ord, AL; and her cousin Reba Whitman of Bartow, FL.

Ministers, The Alabama Ministry Network team eagerly awaits our Regional Conference Tour with Rev. Joe Phillips! This year, we will begin at 8:30 AM with a me of donuts, co ee, and fellowship with one another. At 9:00 AM, we will begin our o cial session where you will hear a powerful word from Pastor Joe. We will conclude this session with a special me of prayer for our ministers and churches. Following this, we will conduct our sec onal business and conclude with our annual BGMC luncheon.
