Advanced Local Anaesthetic and Pain Management ASSOC. PROF ALEX FORREST AO, DR JAMEEL KADERBHAI, ADJ. ASSOC PROF GERALDINE MOSES AM
COURSE OVERVIEW Local Anaesthesia: Pain control is central to enabling clinicians to provide dental treatment and to reduce the suffering of patients. This course will assist in building the knowledge and skills required to successfully administer and manage local anaesthesia for routine dental procedures. Tailoring Pain Medicines: Managing pain is a daily duty for most dental professionals. Although dental interventions are first line treatment for most sources of dental pain, analgesic medications are also frequently used. Ibuprofen, paracetamol, and codeine are the most frequently prescribed medicines, but a range of other medicines are available such as oxycodone, tramadol and tapentadol. Unfortunately, it is not always clear how to choose between these medicines, when to use them alone or in combination, or how to tailor the choice and doses used to different types of pain and patient populations. In this presentation, Dr Moses will discuss how to tailor use of pain medicines to patients with different types of pain, comorbid medical conditions, the very young, the very old, and in pregnancy and breastfeeding. We will also discuss prescribing pain medicines for patients who are already on polypharmacy or medicines for chronic pain discussed. This course will cover: •
Anatomy structures important for administering local anaesthesia
•
Pharmacology of local anaesthesia
•
Local anaesthesia block techniques and clinical considerations
•
Hands-on experience with various methods of local anaesthetic, including posterior lingual infiltration, and transverse cervical blocks.
•
Drugs used in pain relief and how to tailor them to provide the maximum effectiveness in different individuals.

Bond Like a Boss: The Ultimate Guide to Adhesive Dentistry DR JUSTIN LE
COURSE OVERVIEW This CPD course will provide a comprehensive review of adhesive techniques, materials, and clinical protocols. There is a strong emphasis on evidence-based approaches for predictable bonding of direct and indirect restorations. Adhesive dentistry has become a cornerstone of modern restorative practice, enabling minimally invasive treatment, improved aesthetics, and long-term functional outcomes. However, with the growing number of adhesive systems, restorative materials, and evolving techniques, clinicians often find themselves uncertain about which bonding protocol to follow for a given situation. This comprehensive, two-day lecture and hands-on program, presented by Specialist Prosthodontist Dr Justin Le, provides an in-depth review of adhesive principles and evidence-based clinical protocols. The course explores how adhesion works at the microscopic level, the rationale behind various adhesive techniques, and how to apply these concepts predictably across a wide range of restorative materials – including ceramics, resin-matrix materials, and even 3D-printed restorations. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of substrate-specific bonding strategies, learn to avoid common clinical errors, and develop confidence in selecting the most appropriate adhesive system for each case. The program is designed to translate current evidence into practical, everyday dentistry.

Mastering Indirect Quadrant Dentistry DR ANDREW SEE
AIM This workshop aims to address issues by analysing modern preparation and adhesive bonding strategies, debunking myths, highlighting the differences between older preparation techniques to newer preparation techniques, and also clarifying the current adhesive systems available today.
COURSE OVERVIEW Currently, the types of dental restorations that are available to us are significantly different from what we had 20 years ago. Indirect restorations, such as Crownlay, veneerlay, and tabletops, are now possible due to our increasing confidence in bonding techniques. It is now evident that we can bond to the tooth substrate without utilising any retentive and resistive form, leading to conservation of more tooth structure than ever before. The preparation and bonding indirect restorations can be perplexing due to the rapid advancements in techniques and technology that can sometimes contradict older ones. This can result in uncertainty about which protocols to use, leading to unpredictable results.

Mastering Ridge Preservation – Improving Patient Outcomes DR CHRISTOPHER BARKER
COURSE OVERVIEW The inevitable consequence of tooth extraction is resorption and remodelling of the alveolar ridge. The decrease in ridge dimensions can make subsequent management (i.e., implants, bridges, or dentures) more challenging for both clinician and patient. Clinical research and experience suggest that early surgical intervention with appropriate biomaterials can help minimise the extent of this early bone loss. This intervention, called Ridge Preservation, involves the placement of biomaterials into the extraction socket with the view of compensating for the loss of bone and providing a scaffold for new bone formation. This workshop will review the evidence for alveolar ridge preservation procedures and describe the surgical techniques involved. Hands-on exercises on dedicated simulation models will allow clinicians to practice these techniques under the expert supervision of Dr Christopher Barker. The knowledge and skills gained can be immediately incorporated into your everyday clinical practice. Workshop includes:

Beyond the Scan: Practical Cone Beam CT Interpretation for General and Specialist Dental Practice
COURSE AIM
DR YASTIRA LALLA
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course aims to equip general dental practitioners and dental specialists with a systematic framework for Cone Beam CT interpretation, applicable across the most common clinical scenarios encountered in dental practice. The course combines didactic teaching with dedicated hands-on training to bridge the gap between acquiring a Cone Beam CT scan and extracting its full diagnostic value.
This full-day course, led by an AHPRA-registered Dental and Maxillofacial Radiologist, gives general dental practitioners and dental specialists the systematic interpretation framework they need to extract genuine diagnostic value from every scan. Combining focused didactic teaching with hands-on case-based training, the course is designed to be immediately applicable — not just theoretically interesting. Over the course of the day you will develop a thorough, structured approach to Cone Beam CT interpretation covering everything from radiation dosage and indications, through to anatomy, pathology recognition, and the clinical applications most relevant to your practice — including endodontics, implant planning, impacted teeth, and periodontics. Real clinical cases drawn from specialist radiological practice form the backbone of the afternoon session, giving you the opportunity to apply your new framework under guided expert supervision. You will leave with the skills, confidence, and a practical take-home reporting template to approach Cone Beam CT interpretation systematically, thoroughly, and with a clear understanding of when to act and when to refer. Correct Bonding and Cementation - Simplified or Multi-step Techniques for perfect outcomes DR MICHAEL MANDIKOS
COURSE OVERVIEW The question often heard from Dentists during cementation procedures is “am I doing it right”? The truth is, there are so many options available for dentine bonding and cements today, and so many associated “hints and tips” to get the best clinical outcomes, that it can become quite confusing, and some clinicians may even find themselves using the wrong application technique for their product. The result can be poor bond strengths or post-operative sensitivity issues, both of which will ruin the clinical case. In this, one-day lecture and workshop program, Dr Mandikos will cover the relevant theory of dentine bonding and cementation, to ensure attendees understand how bonding works, how the different cements work, and what each of the different systems available actually does. He will demystify cementation protocols and bust a few “Urban Myths” along the way. This is a program designed to clarify the steps required to adhesively cement crowns, veneers, inlays and posts. .
