RECYCLED PET New life for plastic Polyester is the most used fiber in the clothing sector: 55.1 million tons of polyester were produced in 2018, making 52% of global fiber production*.

To produce virgin polyester fabrics, significant quantities of raw materials and chemicals are required and they can pollute water and air and can cause health problems. Textile Exchange, a global non-profit organization that identifies and recommends the most sustainable fibers and materials, promotes recycled polyester (R-PET) as one of the best alternative to virgin polyester.

ECO•DYED R-PET backpacks

Eco dyeing involves adding pigment direcly to the molten plastic solution before the fiper is made.

-87% H2O in the production of ECO DYED polyester compared with virgin dyed polyester fabric.

Conventional batch-dyeing processes (using synthetic dyes) require a tremendous amount of water and energy, resulting in waste and carbon emissions. We switched to Eco dyed, an approach that can result in up to 87% reduction in water use and 58% CO₂ savings overall compared to batch-dyeing, with considerably fewer chemicals released from the overall process.
