Beginning his erhu studies at the age of twelve, Enhua Yang has dedicated over fifteen years to developing his craft. He is currently studying at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the tutelage of Mao Qinghua, Co-Principal Huqin of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. Yang is an artist of the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADAHK), a Lee Hysan Foundation Scholar, a resident musician with the Ebenezer School & Home for the Visually Impaired, and a performer of Dishui Nanyin, the intangible cultural heritage.
Yang has achieved several significant distinctions on the international competition stage. In 2022, he won the VSA International Young Soloists Competition in the United States and performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. In 2024, he earned fourth place at the 1st Korea International Visually Impaired Solo Competition and performed in Seoul. In 2025, he was awarded the Special Grand Award at the World Chinese Music Competition and the Silver Award at the Singapore International Solo and Chamber Music Competition. He also was awarded as one of the Top Ten Winners of the 6th Danny Awards in the United States for his performance of The Cat and the Mouse by contemporary Chinese composer Cao Tianli. Committed to advancing inclusive arts and supporting the professional development of musicians with disabilities, he aspires to use music as a bridge that strengthens community connection and enriches shared cultural life.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Chan Kai-him is a young conductor and huqin artist. He is currently the concertmaster and section leader of the Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble, the resident conductor of the Hong Kong Medical Association Chinese Orchestra, Huqin musician of the Hong Kong Bauhinia Chinese Orchestra, and a conductor and huqin instructor for various local primary and secondary school Chinese orchestras.
Chan earned his Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours and a Master of Music degree (with distinction) from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
During his studies, he double-majored in Erhu and Gaohu under the tutelage of Wong On-yuen and Yu Qi-wei, while also receiving guidance from renowned virtuosi such as Xiao Bai-yong, Liu Yang, Jiang Cai-ru, Tian Zai-li, and Xue Ke. In 2023, he enrolled at HKAPA as a visiting student to further his conducting techniques under the tutelage of Chew Hee-chiat. In 2024, he was once again admitted to HKAPA to pursue another Master of Music degree, majoring in conducting, where he received instruction from esteemed mentors including Yan Huichang, Ho Manchuen, Koon Mee-yu Carman, Szeto Kin, and Vicky Shin. Throughout his studies, Chan was awarded multiple scholarships in recognition of his outstanding performance. He has also represented the academy and other musical organizations in artistic exchanges and performances across various locations, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Mainland China.

Tam studied composition under the late Mr. Yau Siu-pun. His compositional style blends traditional, ethnic, and modern elements. In 2017, his work Beating the Petty Person won three major awards at the “Chinese Music Without Bonds – International Composition Competition” organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra: “Best Work in a Hong Kong Theme”, “Media & Publishers’ Favourite Original Composition,” and “Audience Favorite Original Composition.” His other works have frequently been voted as the “Favourite Original Work” by the audience and orchestra members at the “Music from the Heart” concert by HKCO. He is also a regular arranger for HKCO and the Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble. In 2007, he joined the New Tune Chinese Orchestra, he is currently the acting secretary, publishing director, and the deputy librarian for New Tune Music Association. 《
Hong Kong-born musicians, Tam Yat-sing holds a master’s degree in music (literature) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He began learning piano in primary school and studied under Bernard Hui, then went on to study under Nancy Loo. During his university studies, Tam learned cello under Cheung Ming-yuen and minored in dulcimer under the instruction of Chan Kwok-fai.

Co-composed by Chen Yaoxing and Yang Chunlin in the late 1970s, Thoughts of Northern Shaanxi stands as a milestone in the erhu repertoire. Drawing heavily upon the melodic motifs of "Xintianyou" (a high-pitched folk singing style) and "Yangge" dances of the Shaanxi region, the piece is characterized by its soaring, impassioned, and dramatic melodies. The erhu employs distinctive regional techniques such as wide vibrato, sweeping glissandos, and pressed strings to vividly sketch the vast, rugged landscapes of the Loess Plateau and the rustic, robust, and optimistic spirit of its people. Supported by the Chinese orchestra, the music resonates with a profound nostalgia for the homeland and a passionate yearning for a brighter future.

One of the three surviving erhu masterpieces by Hua Yanjun (Abing), "Wind of the Chilly Spring” is widely regarded as the sister work to Moonlight on the Second Spring. Through the expressive voice of the solo erhu, it evokes the imagery of early spring in the Jiangnan region a time of biting winds when all life quietly awaits awakening. While the melody carries a whisper of the spring chill and the composer's sighs over a life of hardship, its underlying tone is never purely pessimistic. Through the nuanced and profound interplay of bow and string, the music conveys a resilient vitality lying dormant in the cold, yearning for the warmth of spring. It demands remarkable interpretative depth to capture Abing’s unique aesthetic of "sorrow without despair, and hope amidst the chill.

“A Joyful Evening” is a quintessential work tailored by the prominent composer Hu Dengtiao for the "Silk String Quintet," a pioneering chamber music format he developed. Boldly omitting wind and percussion instruments, the piece weaves its narrative entirely through the diverse timbres of silk-stringed instruments such as the erhu, pipa, yangqin, and guzheng. By ingeniously combining Western contrapuntal chamber techniques with traditional Chinese instrumental effects including harmonics, pizzicato, and glissando the composer vividly depicts a jubilant festival night filled with singing, dancing, and lively celebration. The instruments complement one another, conversing back and forth like pearls dropping onto a jade plate, demonstrating the exceptional cohesiveness and artistic tension of traditional Chinese bowed and plucked instruments in a chamber setting.

Hailed as a pinnacle in the history of contemporary Chinese music, Liu Wenjin’s erhu concerto Great Wall Capriccio is deeply inspired by the majestic presence of the Great Wall, seamlessly blending national ethos with humanistic sentiments. This performance features the third movement, "Memorial for the Loyal Souls," and the fourth movement, "Looking Afar," specially reimagined for a chamber ensemble with piano. Distinct from a large symphony orchestra, this arrangement creates a more crystalline and agile space for dialogue between the instruments. The third movement is a deeply moving elegy, where the erhu's desolate melodies mourn the fallen heroes who defended the Great Wall. The music then transitions to the fourth movement, dramatically shifting to showcase the erhu's virtuosic, fiery brilliance. The soloist and ensemble closely intertwine, with the piano's rich harmonic resonance powerfully amplifying the tension. Vividly capturing the unyielding spirit of the Great Wall, the piece ultimately culminates in a magnificent, awe-inspiring finale.
