Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund Results Aberdeen Charities and Community Groups Receive Share of £333,333 to Support Local Eco-Friendly Projects

etails of the local green projects awarded grants from the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund in
Aberdeen have been announced. The 13 successful non-profit organisations will each receive a share of £333,333 for their Aberdeen based environmentally friendly initiatives following a public vote held during December 2022. Delivered by ACVO, in partnership with NESCAN Hub (North East Scotland Climate Action Network), the process aims to empower local people to shape the region’s journey to net zero in a way that reflects their local needs and priorities by allowing members of the public to have their say on where money is spent. The organisations which received funding under the scheme are as follows; Somebody Cares – awarded £36,550 for the purchase of electric vehicles for their work to support families and individuals in need in Aberdeen. Cornhill Community Association – awarded £16,625 to support the establishment of a community garden in the Cornhill/Stockethill area.
Aberdeen Science Centre – awarded £39,500 to purchase and kit-out an electric vehicle as an interactive mobile Climate Change exhibit. The Allotment Market Stall – awarded £13,590 to install a self composting toilet at their Grove Nursery facility. Alcohol and Drugs Action – awarded £29,000 to obtain an electric vehicle for their ‘Sharp Response’ service which provides a daily mobile crisis outreach service targeted to alcohol/drug users deemed to be at highest risk. North East Sensory Services – awarded £33,565 for the purchase of an electric vehicle to transport service users to groups and activities provided by the organisation, particularly children and young people of the Young People’s Sensory Service. 9th Aberdeen Scout Group – awarded £30,000 for environmentally friendly upgrades to their Scout Hut in the Broomhill area including insulation and roof enhancements. Greyhope Bay – awarded £11,000 for the implementation of a recycling and waste management system at their Torry Battery facility. Bonnymuir Green Community Trust awarded £4,260 to support the work of their community green space.

Garthdee Field Allotments – awarded £20,789 for the ‘Family Food: Fresh and Frugal’ project, where volunteers from Garthdee Field Allotments will work with Kaimhill Primary School pupils to grow and cook their own vegetables. We are delighted that the fund has engaged local communities so successfully in developing their own ideas to help tackle the effects of climate change. “We are really looking forward to following the successful projects on their journey as the next phase develops.” The Just Transition Participatory Budgeting Fund forms part of the wider ten year £500 million Just Transition Fund announced by the Scottish Government in May 2022 which aims to support Scotland’s North-East economy in its just transition to net zero. £20 million has been made available for its first year in 2022/23 to support projects in the North East, with £1million
earmarked to deliver the participatory budgeting exercise across the region with a third (£333,333) of the sum made available for distribution in both Aberdeenshire and Moray as well as in Aberdeen City. Commenting on the news that Alcohol & Drugs Action are to receive support from the fund, Chief Executive Fraser Hoggan said: “Alcohol & Drugs Action are absolutely delighted and thankful to have received enough votes for us to be able to proceed with our plans to purchase an electric vehicle. “This will not only significantly reduce our emissions, but also increase our reach for some of the most vulnerable clients across Aberdeen City. “Both our Sharp Response and Quay Service teams will be able to make use of this essential resource which will increase our response times to crisis as well as increasing the flexibility and availability of services.” Find out more at acvo.org.uk/jtpb

Mental Health & Wellbeing Forum ACVO have long hosted regular and various fora to support and inform the third sector, particularly as we continue to recover and make our way through the current crises. Change continues and at such a pace, that it can be difficult to keep up. More changes are to come and things are likely to remain in flux for a while yet. Mental health and wellbeing continues to be a very common and recurring theme. As this topic is so far reaching, multi-layered and affects so many aspects of our work, ACVO are continuing to host third sector forum meetings on the theme of Mental Health & Wellbeing. We are inviting our third sector colleagues to our next one on Thursday 16th Feb. 2023 , from 10.00 am – 12.00pm. Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund
Community Commissioning for projects supporting older people & their unpaid carers open for expressions of interest in Aberdeen Expressions of interest are now being accepted for proposed projects to help support older people and their unpaid carers in the city. ACVO TSI, Aberdeen’s third sector interface, and partners have ringfenced £100,000 from the Scottish Government’s Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, to distribute across projects through a new Community Commissioning funding exercise. Community commissioning is a process that involves bringing together a range of people from different backgrounds and perspectives, to identify and prioritise the needs of the community, and set priorities on how to allocate resources to meet those needs. In this particular exercise, older people and their unpaid carers were previously invited to join in with discussions about what they believe would have a significant positive impact across the city. From these discussions, a lived experience panel has outlined 3 areas of interest to focus the £100,000 fund on: getting information out to the people who need it, activities for older people and their unpaid carers, and meeting minibus and transport needs. From today, ACVO TSI encourages third sector organisations across Aberdeen city to submit their expression of interest if they have the capacity to help target and support these 3 areas. Organisations submitting an expression of interest are informed they must be open to the possibility of working in partnership with other third sector organisations to deliver the projects in full. This is to ensure that smaller organisations can be included in this community commissioning exercise, allowing the reach of the projects to still be large and ensuring the support for older people and their unpaid carers to be as valuable as possible. Once the window of accepting expressions of interest has closed on Tuesday 14th February, a networking event will be scheduled. The intended outcome for this event is that partnerships for each project will be formed through open and cooperative group discussions, facilitated by ACVO TSI staff. Following the formation of partnerships, each group will create their draft project proposal. These will then be passed on to and assessed by the lived experience panel.

he Rotary Clubs of Aberdeen and Northeast, in partnership with Bon Accord Aberdeen, Charlie House and C&M McDonald, have raised £46,500 for local causes through their annual car raffle, with £33,500 going directly to Charlie House as the primary benefitting charity. Launched in April 2022, the raffle ran for nine months with the prize being showcased at Bon Accord. Following a random draw on December 24 2022, Jenny Kemp from Alford was named winner of the Suzuki Vitara SZ-T Mild Hybrid car, donated by C&M McDonald. The monies will go towards the charity’s Big Build Appeal, an initiative to develop a dedicated support centre in the North-east for children with life-limiting or lifethreatening conditions and their families. Susan Crighton, director of fundraising at Charlie House said: “A huge thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s raffle as well

as Bon Accord and C&M McDonald who donated such an incredible prize for the public to be in for a chance of winning! “This was the third year we’ve partnered with the Rotary Clubs and Bon Accord, and we couldn’t be more thankful for their ongoing support, which has significantly supported our Big Build Appeal target these last few years. Their efforts have taken us closer to building a dedicated centre here in the North-east, so families don't have to travel far to receive vital care for their children.” Alan Pirie, chairman of the organising committee added: “We are blown away by the generosity of the public during this year’s raffle and everyone’s contribution allows us to help a variety of important local causes. “The car raffle first launched in 2000 and has taken place on a yearly basis ever since. This year, I’m thrilled to share that we edged ever closer to the major milestone of selling our 1 millionth ticket!
“This initiative would not be as successful without Bon Accord Aberdeen, which offers us space to show off our prize and capture shoppers’ interest. On behalf of all the Rotary Clubs, I’d like to extend my gratitude to all our partners and their efforts in raising awareness of the raffle. “The remaining funds will be shared amongst the 24 participating Rotary Clubs to help other incredible charities in our area and support the running of their own initiatives within the community.” The Big Build Appeal has a target of £8m to raise. The current fundraising efforts total more than £4m and the donation from this years’ Rotary Clubs’ car raffle significantly contributes to the cause. Denis Law Legacy Trust And Foundation 92 Twin Cruyff Court Operations Denis Law Legacy Trust and Foundation 92 are twinning their Cruyff Court Operations in a move that will provide a range of positive destination activities for young people in Aberdeen and Salford.

olunteer exchanges are a key benefit of twinning Cruyff Court operations that would see individuals in Aberdeen and Salford switch places to experience new cultures, people and places. In addition, the partnership opens the door to having Foundation 92 led programmes in Aberdeen and the Trust’s flagship programme Streetsport, which is ran in partnership with the Robert Gordon University, taking place in Salford.
At a well-attended media event last week, Tom Hutton, Head of Foundation 92, announced the start of construction of their first Cruyff Court, set to be named “Cruyff Court Class of ‘92” and based in Little Hulton, Salford. He was supported at the event by Mark Williams, Chief Operating Officer at Denis Law Legacy Trust, who gave insight into the positive impact of Cruyff Courts on disadvantaged communities in Aberdeen. Befriend a Child looking for thrill seekers to take on the hottest challenge of 2023
Children’s charity, Befriend a Child, is calling on people in the North-East of Scotland to take on the Inferno Firewalk Challenge. The fiery event takes place on Saturday the 4th of March 2023, from 5pm, at Café Ahoy on Aberdeen’s Beach Boulevard, with participants walking across hot coals to raise funds for local young people. Befriend a Child run befriending, mentoring, and support programmes for children and families facing hardship in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. The charity helps over 250 children a year, matching them with trained volunteer befrienders who provide friendship, stability, and fun. Befriend a Child rely completely on grants and support from the community to ensure they can continue providing their vital services, and currently have more than 50 children on their waiting list. Sarah Misra, CEO at Befriend a Child says, “The Inferno Firewalk Challenge is a great way to try something new and have fun while raising much-needed funds for Befriend a Child. We’re
looking forward to welcoming participants on the 4th of March and their support will ensure we can continue making a difference to children and young people in our local communities.” The event is sure to take the chill out of the cold March air and keep participants on their toes! Firewalkers will be guided through a motivational workshop and safety briefing by Firewalk Scotland. The workshop will help fundraisers mentally prepare for the challenge, with the key message, ‘If you can walk barefoot across red hot coals, what else could you do if you put your mind to it?’ Entrants are asked to pay a £20 registration fee to cover the costs of the event, with a £100 minimum sponsorship. Not only will all participants walk away with a huge sense of achievement, but they will also receive a ‘Hall of Flame’ certificate and Befriend a Child t-shirt. Signing up for the event is easy – simply visit the charity’s website at

All participants will have access to a Facebook group, where there will be tips and support from the team and fellow firewalkers. I didn’t know many others taking part and was a bit scared. However, I was soon put at ease and had a fantastic experience! Since then, I have walked on fire a few times and would do it again. STEM Youth Board seeks future voices for 2023

berdeen-based charities TechFest and Aberdeen Science Centre (ASC) are on the lookout for
influential young people to help shape the future of STEM in 2023. United in their mission to support STEM education, the organisations have created a STEM Youth Board to ensure activities are relevant, peer led and appealing to youngsters across the North-east of Scotland and beyond. Sponsored by Shell and supported by Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council, the youth board is seeking volunteers based in Aberdeen City or Shire. A diverse, inclusive membership comprising those studying in years S3S5 is encouraged, with all views and ideas welcome. As a vehicle for the collaboration and to ensure representation from young people, the board will work with both organisations to ensure appropriate

Four Pillars to spotlight body positivity with series of events Four Pillars, an LGBT+ charity based in Aberdeen, believe everyone should be happy and proud to be who they are, whether that is about sexuality, gender identity, disability, body shape. The charity will be hosting various events throughout the year to reinforce the message of body positivity. Four Pillars have started with a series of life drawing classes, held every 2nd Saturday from 11am-1pm at

Camphill School Aberdeen's expansion will help more parents get back to work

The charity, which is based across three campuses in the west of Aberdeen is aiming to expand the number of day and residential places it offers to young people aged 16 – 25 years old by 60% as part of a £10 million Building Futures, Transforming Lives capital appeal campaign. Polish-Scottish Mini Festival
Polish Association Aberdeen invites everyone from Aberdeen and all over Scotland to a unique series of cultural events that will take place as part of the Polish-Scottish Mini Festival.

he Polish-Scottish Mini Festival, organised by Polish Association Aberdeen (PAA), proves that building a community based on connecting very diverse cultural environments is possible. Many Poles have made Aberdeen their homes and PAA feel proud of all their contributions to the granite city. This festival celebrates Aberdeen as their city of choice, with friends, neighbours and work colleagues having the chance to understand a different culture. PAA support integration and Polish and Scottish cross-cultural exchange. This has a significant impact on the cultural life of the Polish community, which creates and strengthens it's positive image. The Polish-Scottish Mini Festival is currently underway with events

The first and the most integrative element of the festival was the traditional 'Polish-Scottish Ceilidh'. On Saturday 21st January the Polish Scottish Ceilidh at Pittodrie Stadium kicked off at 7pm. The birthday of the Scottish poet Robert Burns was celebrated with Polish and Scottish dances. Traditional Scottish dishes (haggis, neeps, tatties) were served alongside Polish traditional dishes.
'Who are You', an exhibition held at the Trinity Centre, allowed members of the public to see ‘identity’ from the perspective of children who were born/live in Aberdeen and live in diverse and multicultural communities. Created by Marta Surowiec and Dorota Puszkiewicz, this exhibition showcased unique insights where festival goers discovered what identity meant to the children who live in these communities. Touch of Love Outreach launch Tullos Food Bank Touch of Love Outreach has set up Tullos Food Bank at Tullos Community Centre to help alleviate the cost-of-living crisis as well as food insecurity within families resident in Torry.

Commissioned by Torry/Ferryhill Councillor Michael Kusznir, Tullos Food Bank will be open every Thursday 9:30am – 12:30pm to distribute emergency food to residents of Torry who are experiencing severe food insecurity and hardship. Jane Akadiri, Founder of Touch of Love Outreach, said; “Tullos Food Bank project is one of the charity’s initiatives to make sure Torry residents who are economically challenged, and blighted by austerity, can have access to free food.” Mike Melvin, Volunteering Services Manager at ACVO, said “Touch of Love Outreach are providing such essential and tremendous support. I was delighted to meet the wonderful team and I extend ACVO’s great thanks for all that Touch of Love Outreach are
doing in making a real, positive difference for so many people and the community.” Torry is a regeneration area and has a multi-cultural community. Faced with the perfect storm of rising energy prices, inflation and a potential recession that is pushing people deeper into poverty, the soaring cost of living means many Torry households are cutting back on essentials, with low-income households most at risk. This leads to a fall in living standards that will affect people’s physical and mental health, and exacerbate existing conditions. Tullos Community Centre, situated within the Tullos School grounds, was considered a perfect location for the food bank due to its ease of access for Torry families when parents drop off their young children at school.

Touch of Love Outreach thank the National Lottery, Aberdeen City Council’s Torry Community Centre Liaison Officers, CFINE, ACVO, and the Rotary Club of Aberdeen (St. Fittick) for their massive support to ensure a successful launch of this project. Touch of Love Outreach will also run a café within the food bank's opening hours, so that anyone can walk in and have a cuppa and chat - with plans to add on warm meals in the future.
This space will also serve as an Information Centre where people can be signposted to the most suitable support to obtain a more permanent solution to their challenges. Streetsport Volunteer nominated at Aberdeen Sport Awards Long term Denis Law Legacy Trust volunteer Dave Thompson shortlisted as Adult Volunteer of the year following on from BBC Sports Personality Of The Year: Unsung Hero shortlisting

ave Thomson, a long term volunteer with Denis Law Legacy Trust: Streetsport, has had his volunteering achievements recognised with an Aberdeen Sport Award nomination. It comes after Dave was shortlisted as BBC Sports Personality Of The Year: Unsung Hero for his years of dedicated volunteering to Denis Law Legacy Trust’s Streetsport programme, which is ran in partnership with Robert Gordon University, and other charitable work. About the nomination, Mark Williams Chief Operating Officer at Denis Law Legacy Trust said, “It is fantastic to see one of our long term volunteers Dave Thompson shortlisted as Adult Volunteer of the year. Dave is an inspirational role model to many young people and it’s Volunteers like him that have played a large part in our work being such a success providing platforms for young people to thrive.” Dave, 54, is a regular volunteer at Streetsport sessions in Torry, while working full-time as Director of UK Sales at Dyce-based Remote Medical International. Alongside Dave's nomination, DLLT have also received a nod for Cruyff Court Neale Cooper nomination for
its impact on reducing youth antisocial behaviour rates in Torry. Cruyff Courts are floodlit, multi-purpose sports pitches that provides communities with an unbookable, entirely free-to-access sports hub. Since the building of Cruyff Court Neale Cooper in 2019, anti-social behaviour in the area has been slashed by 50% and where the area once topped anti-social behavioural charts – it is now 6th. Denis Law Legacy Trust in partnership with the Johan Cruyff Foundation and Aberdeen City Council established Cruyff Court Neale Cooper after the success of Cruyff Court Denis Law, Aberdeen’s first Cruyff Court. “We are delighted that the positive work we do for young people and the wider community at Cruyff Court Neale Cooper is being recognised at
this years prestigious Aberdeen Sports Awards", added Mark Williams “One highlight of our work on the court this year was helping host our first ever community fun day, organised by young people from the area and our youth forum “Granite City Speaks”. It was a great success with over 600 local people in attendance. CVO is delighted to support the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) which is delivered
in over 280 schools across Scotland, including schools in Aberdeen. YPI is managed and majority funded by The Wood Foundation. It is a programme that empowers young people to make a difference in their local communities while developing a range of skills. Each participating school is responsible for directing a grant of £3000 to a local charity championed by its young people through teamwork, research, and competition.

Local call for community resilience volunteer groups
Organisations are being encouraged to form community resilience volunteer groups which provide assistance to emergency services and the council during incidents or emergencies. The call follows on from work carried out by groups last year and following a new resilience group having been set up in the Bridge of Don and Danestone area supported by the King's Church Aberdeen, local community councils, Men’s Shed Bridge of Don, Sport Aberdeen, a Rotary club, and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Resilience groups keep people informed, have a role for all, bring residents in a community together, helps communities feel safe and prepared for emergencies, and people become more community spirited.
Aberdeen City Council can help interested organisations by; Offering advice, guidance, and training; Assisting in compilation of a community plan; Giving guidance regarding grants and funding; Providing insurance. Clan volunteers retire after transforming Aberdeen garden into awardwinning sanctuary

lan Cancer Support’s long serving gardening volunteers have retired after transforming the
charity’s outdoor area in Aberdeen into an award-winning green space for people affected by cancer. Moira Cameron and Shonagh McFadyen have been volunteering at Clan for a combined total of more than 14 years and tended to the garden at the charity’s headquarters on Aberdeen’s Westburn Road for the final time in late 2022 Moira took up the volunteering position in 2013 after retiring as a teacher from Elrick Primary School in Westhill.
One of her first tasks was to prepare the charity’s garden after the 2011 opening of Clan House and its adjoining bed and breakfast facility, Clan Haven, which offers affordable accommodation to anyone travelling to Aberdeen for hospital treatments. Moira recalled the outdoor space being completely undeveloped. She said: “The first thing I did was plant three containers with summer bedding. In one of them l planted sweet peas growing up canes. One lady who was staying at Clan Haven commented that she’d like to plant them in her garden the following year. “Her husband told me that was the first time she had made any comments

That’s when l realised that the garden could offer so much more to the clients than just somewhere nice to sit.” Moira has worked in the garden with fellow volunteer Shonagh who has been generously giving her time to the charity since 2018 after retiring as a HR business partner in the energy sector. Shonagh added: “In the time I have been with Clan I have felt a connection with the garden. It's given me the motivation to work hard and ensure everything looks its best for the clients, visitors and staff to enjoy. Moira and Shonagh’s hard work and expertise has been recognised with several local and national awards for the Clan garden with numerous Aberdeen in Bloom prizes including Aberdeen Communities Together and Wright Sustainability Award and a Keep Scotland Beautiful award in 2021. Claire Mechie, volunteer manager at Clan Cancer Support, said: “Without Moira and Shonagh’s support we would not have such a coveted green space at Clan House. Both volunteers have worked tirelessly and shown real creativity to provide such a tranquil and welcoming garden for thousands of our clients over the years. “We are incredibly grateful for their exceptional service to Clan and wish them all the best for the future.” The charity is now on the lookout for volunteers to continue improving the garden facilities at Clan House in Aberdeen, with candidates required to offer two – three hours of their time either weekly, fortnightly or monthly. In This Together Funded Training Offer from SAMH The In This Together project delivered by SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) and funded through the Co-op National Charity Partnership, offers free virtual interactive and bitesize training sessions on a variety of interesting mental health topics. The SAMH Workplace team are running 10 virtual interactive and bitesize training sessions which are available to those aged 18+ within the Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire area. The virtual interactive sessions are between 90 minutes to 3 hours and include the topics: Mental Health: Supporting Others, Looking After Your Wellbeing, and Mental Health and Wellbeing Awareness. The bitesize sessions are an ideal, quick informative session for those where allocating time for training can be challenging, are 30 minutes and include the topics: 5 Ways to Wellbeing, Self-care, Sleep and Mental Health, Impact of Poor Mental Health, Managing Stress, and Having a Mental Health Conversation. The sessions aim to be informative, offer practical tools and guidance, and provide appropriate signposting organisations and follow-up resources. The Community Grants Programme supports local charities and community organisations across the Grampian region to develop projects which improve access to health provision, enhance healthcare experiences, and empower individuals to better manage their own health. Applications which are community based and initiatives which seek to address health inequalities are particularly welcome. The programme is also interested in supporting research which focuses on health inequalities, self-management, prevention and early intervention. supPORT-all Community Action Programme Port of Aberdeen This year, Port of Aberdeen will donate £30,000 through its supPORT-all community action programme to support work in communities and third sector organisations local to the port. As a Trust Port, the local community is one of their key stakeholders and their mission is to create prosperity for generations. How will it work? Two awards of £7,500, two awards of £5,000 and two awards of £2,500 will be donated to community groups or charities operating in areas of Aberdeen local to the port. This will be bolstered by commitments from Port of Aberdeen to provide time, resources or equipment when appropriate. Our Helper Service volunteers are there to provide their client with companionship, information and help with activities like making a cup of tea or visiting a favourite place. Does your organisation care about and want to make a difference to young people in Scotland? MCR Pathways are hosting a free employer information session on the 8th of February @11am- 12pm and would love to see you there. 'In 2023 we’re looking for organisations to support us in delivering our life-changing mentoring programme to Scotland’s vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. MCR mentors spend an hour each week listening to and encouraging a young person in their school. Across Scotland, there are approximately 7,500 young people waiting to be mentored, but an hour a week is all it takes to change a life. Companies that support their staff to mentor an hour a week with MCR Pathways also report an increase in staff retention, well-being, happiness and productivity.
Welcome to our coffee morning. Every Friday from 10am-12pm. We are working in collaboration with The Junction Church. Our community café offers a safe environment for all walks of life to enjoy speciality coffee, cake and a warm space for a chat. When you come in, all we ask is for a donation towards your items. There will be a collection box where you order. For mums with small kids, we have a sensory area and toys to enjoy. You can relax, have a coffee while knowing your child is safe and having fun. The Searchlight team will be on hand to talk to anyone who is in need of support.
This talk will share insight into Jon’s creative journey uncovering the secret histories and lives of artists working in the Granite City. For the past 15 years he’s been documenting and engaging with creatives working across the arts sector, from emerging talents at Gray’s School of Art to well-established painters with impressive studio practices. Of course, there are a lot of cracks in between these two extremes: the city’s graffiti writers, for example, who don’t seek our validation or the outsider artists who fly under the radar of the big institutions, is their contribution any less valuable? And there are also the creative spaces and studios which support many artists and are a valuable cog in the city’s creative footprint. Creativity exists in many forms, often in isolation or creative bubbles, so how can we support and engage with it in a meaningful way?
Searchlight Scotland was founded in 2018 with a drive and hope to see societies most vulnerable receive trauma informed care and support in order for them to live the life that they deserve.

NESS ‘s Sensory Awareness Training provides a comprehensive overview of the practical and emotional impact of sight and/or hearing loss, including Deafness. By the end of the training, participants will also be much more aware of the many ways that someone with a sensory impairment might maintain their independence and will start to consider issues relating to making services more accessible. This training is suitable to anyone working in health and social care, anyone working in a public facing environment and anyone who is exploring how to make their services more accessible to someone with sight loss, hearing loss, someone who is Deaf or deafblind. The training is free to anyone working in the public or third sector (including care homes) and costs £40 for anyone working in the private sector.
What is the climate impact of transport in Scotland? We’ll explore how community groups can reduce car use in their local area. In this interactive workshop we’ll be talking about what community organisations can do to take action on climate change and help reduce car use in their local area. We will cover: • To what extent transport contributes to greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland and how we measure up globally. • How to set up and develop an active travel project – this could be an initiative that will directly help people to get walking, wheeling and cycling or a community action plan for encouraging sustainable travel in your area. • The resources, funding and support available from Sustrans.

This is an exciting & new role, where you will play a key part in empowering, supporting & upskilling autistic & neurodivergent people, working collaboratively with education providers & local employers. A-ND previously offered an Employment Support & Training Service, however required to close the service during the pandemic, with our original funding concluding in 2021. The role of our new Service Manager will be to register as the manager with the Care Inspectorate & oversee our existing Outreach & Support Service, as well as a very exciting & brand-new project, Binky the sensory bus, working closely & collaboratively with our Children’s Service Manager & effectively contributing to the wider leadership team. Our team have recently been trained in Outcomes Star to enhance their person-centred key working & outcomes focused support, with the implementation process only just started. Our outreach service has an office base at Carnie Drive in Aberdeen, & Elgin, Moray where some support can be provided to our younger children & young people who require specific resources, & where we hold regular support groups, which you will be responsible for overseeing, with the support of the Team Leaders.
