Worry-Free Living at its Best
Clinton and Kathryn Pettus, Bayleigh Chase residents
We are very happy to have moved in our mid70s! Part of our being comfortable here is that we’re young enough to experience all that’s offered,” said Clinton Pettus, a resident of Bayleigh Chase, an Acts Retirement-Life Community in Easton, Maryland.

Clinton and his wife, Kathryn, moved into their cottage just months before the COVID-19 pandemic. They quickly realized they made the best retirement decision for their safety, security, and well-being. They're both grateful they did not wait. “The community staff were very concerned about us and ensured we were cared for during the pandemic. You feel people here truly care about you.” Future uncertainty is negated with the predictable reassurance of Acts’ worry-free living. “This environment—is about as anxiety-free as one can experience on this earth!” Clinton said.
The Pettus’ three grown daughters live out of state and are thrilled their parents are so happy and cared for. “The world is theirs because they don’t have to worry nearly as much about us,” said Kathryn. The Pettuses will never worry about their future healthcare needs as they are already prearranged at a predictable cost with Acts Life Care.
Worry-free living also means a reprieve from all those endless home repairs and maintenance. Recently the Pettus’ air conditioning unit stopped working in the summer heat at the worst possible time— over a holiday weekend.

“We put in a work order and before noon that day, the house was cool again,” Clinton said. “If we were not living here it might have taken several days to get a repair person to come on a holiday weekend. To be free from worrying about those things, as homes get older, that’s amazing.”
Living in a fun, active community also frees up your days to pursue what truly makes you happy.

“Kathryn and I are both educators and we love mentoring young employees and encouraging them. It is very fulfilling to continue in your field and contribute to society,” he said. Kathryn also enjoys poetry and is a leader of a poetry writing group at her community. “We share our own poetry and explore the old classics that inspire us,” she said. “We also publish our poems in the monthly community newsletter. It’s one of my joys to contribute to our community.”
