A NOTE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, Daniel C. Levine Welcome to Beautiful: The Carole King Musical – and to the start of A.C.T. of CT’s ninth season! There are certain songs that seem to have always been a part of many of our lives. “Will You Love Me Tomorrow.” “One Fine Day.” “You’ve Got a Friend.” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” “It’s Too Late.” “I Feel the Earth Move.” They are songs we know within just a few notes and songs that are connected to memories, people, places, and moments in our lives. But what I love about Beautiful is that behind all those extraordinary songs is an equally extraordinary story. Before the world knew Carole King as the iconic artist behind Tapestry, she was a young songwriter from Brooklyn, writing hit after hit with her husband and creative partner, Gerry Goffin. Beautiful follows Carole as she helps create the soundtrack of a generation while gradually discovering something equally important: her own voice deserves to be heard, too. That is what makes this musical so much more than a collection of great songs. At its heart, Beautiful is a story about finding the courage to become who you are meant to be. It is about resilience, friendship, heartbreak, reinvention, and finally having the confidence to bet on yourself. And I think there is something in Carole’s journey that all of us can recognize. So many of these songs are now legendary, but once upon a time they were simply an idea – a melody at a piano, a lyric scribbled on a page, two songwriters trying to find the right chord or the right word. Our production allows you to experience some of that magic: to watch these songs being created and then explode into the versions that became part of the soundtrack of a generation. And there may be no better place to experience this story than in our intimate 184-seat theater. The big musical numbers are electric and exhilarating, and then moments later everything disappears except Carole, a piano, and an audience sitting just a few feet away. You aren't watching her story from across a huge theater – you are almost in the room with her. Beautiful is also the beginning of an incredibly exciting ninth season at A.C.T. of CT. After Beautiful, we will bring you the hilarious, outrageous, and surprisingly heartfelt Avenue Q, followed this spring by the most ambitious production in A.C.T. of CT’s history, Les Misérables. We’ve also got some great Broadway Unplugged performances in store. I cannot wait for you to experience everything we have planned!!! Thank you for being here, for supporting A.C.T. of CT, and for continuing to believe in the power of live theater. Enjoy the show!

In addition to the songs heard in Beautiful, she set the words to later standards including “Somewhere Out There,” “Here You Come Again,” “He’s So Shy,” “Just Once” and “Don’t Know Much,” to name just a few. Weil was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, honored with multiple Grammy nominations and two Grammy awards for “Somewhere Out There” as the Motion Pictures Song of the Year and Song of the Year. RIDGEFIELD - TWO OF MAIN STREET’S MOST TREASURED HOMES
Unprecedented opportunity to purchase two landmark, historic residences, situated side by side on Ridgefield's beloved Main St., which have been developed into an unparalleled lifestyle compound. This once in a lifetime sale includes the treasured Hawley House at 236 Main Street - Ridgefield's oldest home, on its original lot (5) which was built by the proprietors in 1713 for the Rev.
