Davidson’s Casual Dining

Under new management and redevelopment, and set to rekindle your love for this time-honored Tigard favorite!

D

avidson’s Casual Dining has been a fixture of the Tigard landscape since 1972! Initially, it was known as Davidson’s Frostop, a drivein root beer and hamburger stand. Success generated expansion, and shortly after, it was rebranded as Davidson’s Casual Dining to reflect their easy-going approach, local roots, and broadened menu—which now includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Celebrating their 50th year, Davidson’s still makes good on their promise of delivering generous portions of delicious home-style cooking in a welcoming, friendly atmosphere.

What’s truly exciting, however, is that new owner Sara Morales has big plans for the little diner that could.

She’s taking the approach of not fixing what isn’t broken—such as their traditional homemade root beer and fresh-squeezed orange juice—while still updating some of the menu items and remodeling the inside. This is still a diner;

she’s not trying to rewrite history here, but she does want to “upgrade” certain elements and clean things up a bit. Newly remodeled restrooms, booths, tables and chairs, lighting fixtures, and floors are all either done or in the works. And there is more to come!

Some of the menu items are classics, and can’t be touched. Homemade root beer can’t be improved! Real ice cream milkshakes served with the blender cup—classic! Sara plans to update the menu, however, with some more modern dishes and higherquality ingredients.

The Mexican portion of the menu will get a significant overhaul, as Sara also owns El Guajillo across the street, so expect that same level of high-quality. She is also working on establishing her liquor license, so soon you will be able to enjoy a delicious Margarita, Mimosa, or Bloody Mary with your meal!

Folks, this is good old-fashioned, made-from-scratch comfort food, and with Sara taking the reins you are going to see big improvements over the coming months. If this place is a long-time favorite, or one that you’ve frequented in the past, Davidson’s Casual Dining will earn your love and adoration all over again.
