resh, delicious, authentic Mexican food you are sure to love!

Hailing from the tiny rural town of Cuautla, Jalisco—a town in Mexico so diminutive that it doesn’t even register on most maps—Efren Guitron migrated to the United States back in 1970. Just 17 years old at the time, he began working for a relative at a small Mexican restaurant in Seattle. He started at the bottom, busing tables and washing dishes, but over the next 10 years he learned every aspect of the business. He moved to Oregon in 1980 and opened his own restaurant, El Tapatio, in Milwaukie. Now 42 years later, his eatery empire boasts 20 locations all over the Northwest (with a few outliers in neighboring states), including our fantastic little spot here in St. Helens!

Niece, business partner (coowner of 3 stores), and manager of our St. Helens location, Estella Alcazar is not only a highly-respected and recognized professional in the industry, she

also happens to be one of the hardest working. She moved here to the United States to work for her Uncle Efren, and following in his footsteps, she couldn’t be more grateful or appreciative. Like her uncle, Estella started at the bottom, learning the ropes, and earning every promotion honestly and with utmost integrity. This is a family business, but there are no free rides! And now 30 years later, Estella is still one of the most dedicated and diligent people you will ever meet.
