Pure Serenity Health Spa

The Road to Wellness

By Dennis McNabb, Contributing Writer Photos by Hayley Starkey

e are living in unprecedented times. While one might argue that political, civil, and economic uncertainty have always been prevalent to some degree, the added weight of a worldwide pandemic has taken things to a whole new level in recent years. As a nation, our collective stress and anxiety levels have risen dramatically. Now, perhaps more than any other time in recent history, it is imperative that we learn how to manage that stress. Pure Serenity Health Spa in St. Helens is just the answer we’ve been looking for. Established back in 2007 by owner Kayla Mixer, Pure Serenity is everything you could ever wish for and more in a health spa. It boasts all the accomplished efficiency and opulence of a major urban establishment, but is presented with the humility and care of a privatelyowned business in a small town. Kayla and her amazing staff of highly-trained professionals are genuinely passionate about the process of healing, and both the quality and quantity of treatments they offer are a clear reflection of that objective. Floating, Hydrafacials, Microneedling, Peels, Microdermabrasions, Eyelashes, Foot Treatments, CBD Massages, Ashiatsu Massages; they specialize in all of these treatments and so much more! Skincare and massages at Pure Serenity are not limited to the basics like so many other spas. In order to provide a much fuller spectrum of treatment, Kayla’s providers are also adept

at performing Gua Sha, Cupping, Pregnancy and Couples Massage, Dermaplaning, Gel Nails, and Eyelash Lifts and Tints. Especially after having dealt with so much isolation during COVID, people are in desperate need of the healing properties of touch. At Pure Serenity, their treatments will melt that stress away. Kayla is particularly excited to spread the word regarding their incredible saltwater Float Tank and their new HydraFacial machine. You may be familiar with the Float Tank experience. It’s actually been around since the 1950s, but it’s been growing in popularity in recent years as designs have improved. Their tank at Pure Serenity is the latest in technology and the first in Columbia County! This restorative practice consists of floating in a body-temperature epsom salt bath in a chamber designed to deprive you of sensory input. Tranquil, meditative, and therapeutic, it’s an experience like no other. It has been known to decrease

stress, improve sleep, and reduce fatigue. It is also an effective treatment for PTSD, fibromyalgia, back pain, and arthritis, and works as an ideal detoxifier before having a massage or skin treatment. The HydraFacial treatment has been described as a facial on steroids! The device’s patented tips maximize and personalize every service in order to fit your specific skin type. In a

single treatment you can receive deep cleansing and exfoliation, an acid peel, extractions, hydration, and protection, and the level of customization is astounding! Almost any common skin condition can be managed with the HydraFacial, including acne, rosacea, and psoriasis, and (located on site) for a wide selection of they can also perform Lip and Eye Perks, superior and mostly locally-sourced items. as well as Kerevive Treatments for dandruff and hair loss. The sky’s the limit when it comes to the You are now cordially invited to visit variety of restorative treatments offered at Pure Serenity and allow Kayla and her Pure Serenity.
