Chimcare Chimney Service
Chimcare strives to be the leader in the chimney and fireplace industry. They are committed to providing customers with the highest quality service at affordable pricing, and are known throughout the Northwest for professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction. In 1989, Richard Peralta began a small chimney sweeping company in Canby, Oregon in order to help support his growing family. Richard started the business on a part-time basis to provide extra income for his family of eight, while working full time for UPS. After five years of hard work and dedication to his customers, he was able to leave his day job and pursue the business full time. Richard built the business from the ground up by providing dependable, quality service that is still trusted to this day. Thanks to his incredible dedication to the craft, integrity, and impeccable customer care, Richard’s business quickly grew into the chimney repair and cleaning company that carries on his legacy today. Many of Richard’s first customers are still with Chimcare LLC today, along with their family and friends. Chimcare is very proud that the majority of their business is from loyal repeat customers and their referrals. As they have grown, Chimcare has expanded with additional locations in order to service the greater Portland and Seattle areas. Their chimney professionals can service homes and businesses as far north as Everett, Washington and as far south as Salem.
Along with providing chimney cleaning, inspection, and repair services, the great team at Chimcare can also help transform your outdoor living space by constructing a beautiful outdoor fireplace for you to enjoy all year round. They are experts at chimney construction and masonry, and their work is so good that they have also branched out to doing special projects like patios, retaining walls, fire pits, walkways, and pretty much anything that can be done with brick and mortar. In 2005 Richard’s son Jesse took over the business. Richard now dedicates his time to community outreach projects that he is passionate about. Jesse remains committed to not only keeping up with the level of service that their father provided for many years, but working to exceed it. They want to go above and beyond for each and every customer. Along with the current customer base, Jesse is working hard to expand Chimcare as his father had always dreamed. They are always looking to serve new customers who are searching for clean-cut service technicians with experience, quality workmanship, and a name that is trusted around the northwest. They are proud to carry on the Peralta family tradition of providing exemplary chimney care for you and your home. If you have any questions or want to inquire about their services, you can visit their website at https://www.chimcare.com, or call them at (800) 362-4840.

GRAIN STATION BREW WORKS
Family-Friendly Brew Pub By Patti Jo Brooks, Contributing Writer
M
onmouth’s Grain Station Brew Works boasts a rich family legacy filled with local tradition and history. Previously J’s Restaurant, it passed from father to son in 2018, becoming an addition to Grain Station Brew Works in McMinnville. Jeff Glodt, from a “diner” family, along with his wife Kelly, from the Nopp “dinner-house” family, are 3rd generation restaurant owners. Jeff and Kelly’s first restaurant, Robert’s Crossing in South Salem, enjoyed a solid reputation, but during the pandemic they closed its doors to focus on the two Grain Station Brew Works locations. Open from 6:30 AM and closing between 8:30-9:30 PM (depending on the day and season), you can enjoy a Grain Station Brew Works’ full-menu breakfast, lunch, or dinner in a family atmosphere of casual dining. The head chef, who came from Robert’s Crossing, has worked for Jeff for 10 years,
and takes great care putting together fresh locally-sourced ingredients to add to traditional fares and seasonal specials. Many items are made from scratch such as Hash Browns and Corned Beef (made with Grain Station’s own beer). “Doesn’t matter if it’s meat-loaf that’s been around 5 generations, or burgers made from aged top sirloin, giving the burger a more ‘steaky’ flavor,” Jeff relates, “we put the best product we can find out there.” For those with particular diets, gluten free, vegan, and other dietary needs are frequently accommodated.” He notes, “Keep your eyes out for the various steaks that will be coming in and some seafood items in particular.” “Home of Bet the Farm IPA,” Monmouth’s Grain Station 6 To Advertise With Us, Call 503.825.2111
Brew Works gets its craft beers from the McMinnville location which houses the brewery and supplies both venues. Their flagship beers include Bet the Farm IPA, Haystack Golden Ale, Walnut City Red, Pitchfork Pilsner, and Grain Station Stout, accompanied by guest and seasonal beers. Rotating ciders, gluten free beers, and classic sodas in bottles are also offered. Wine and cocktails, compliments of a full-service bar, are available as well. Give the signature Blackberry Lemon Drop cocktail a try! Whether dining indoors, outdoors, or getting takeout, Grain Station Brew Works is all about the quality. “My dad and I had breakfast there this morning,” says Jeff. “He’s always keeping an eye on me.” Dedicated employees wanting to work during the pandemic were all kept on staff, including 3 members who’ve worked for the Glodt family for over 20 years: Martha, who works in the kitchen, and Joan and Alma who work as servers. “We’ve been around this area a very long time, and we care a great deal about our community,” Jeff states, sharing that his great-great-great grandfather was one of the founders of Monmouth’s Western Oregon State College. To honor the farmers, ranchers, and vintners of Oregon’s wine and farm country, Grain Station Brew Works adopted the motto: “Work hard. Drink great beer.” And enjoy their great food! Grain Station Brew Works is located at 220 Pacific Ave. S on the corner of 99W and Jackson St. in Monmouth. Give them a ring at (503)838-1730, or visit their website, grainstation.com/monmouth/.

DALLAS RETIREMENT VILLAGE
Celebrating 75 Years C By Patti Jo Brooks, Contributing Writer
elebrating 75 years of Senior Living, Dallas Retirement Village is unique among senior living communities. Residents are offered a complete continuum of care from Independent Living to Skilled Nursing, and everything in between. Residents can enter the retirement community at any care level, and couples can rest assured that regardless of the individual’s needs, they and their partners are never more than just minutes away! The residents take great pride in showing family and friends around this wonderful community they call “home.” Dallas Retirement Village offers rental and upfront fee options in Independent Living, without requiring financial or medical disclosure. Pets are welcome and a happy addition to the family for many Independent Living residents. Pets offer companionship, a sense of purpose, and a great reason to go out and engage in the community. Other care levels include Assisted Living, for those needing a little extra help with personal care, medications, laundry and housekeeping. Memory Care provides additional

services in a safe environment, such as daily activities designed to stimulate the body and mind of your loved one living with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Skilled Nursing affords both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care (including Hospice and End-ofLife Care) 24 hours a day by skilled health professionals. Based on priority and availability, Skilled Nursing services are open to all residents of Dallas Retirement Village, as well as those living in Dallas, Salem, and surrounding cities. Further care options available include physical, occupational, and speech therapy, wound care, IV therapy, and fall prevention programs. This full-spectrum approach to senior living allows residents a fluid transition through care levels, with the security of maintaining established relationships. “The greatest value we provide the senior community,” relates executive director David Parrett, “is a commitment to serving our residents in a professional but also very caring manner.” The staff culture is based on everyone working together, building positive relationships among themselves regardless of position, and developing caring relationships with the residents. Staff fully respect that they are assisting residents “in their own home” and strive to provide a comfortable living environment, allowing seniors to enjoy all that Dallas Retirement Village has to offer.
Visits from friends and family are welcome and highly encouraged. At the Independent level, guests often join residents for their social high-point of the day—the meal. Two separate dining rooms, each with its own chef, offer completely different menus. The restaurantstyle dining rooms host servers, vast menu options (including dietary considerations), and daily specials for lots of variety. A coffee bar named Central Blend is where you’re likely to hear laughter, and see residents, staff, and guests gathered around enjoying conversation over a cup of coffee, a cool beverage, a sweet treat or meal. The Central Blend Marketplace sells “grab and go” items including prepared meals, salads, soup, ice cream, dairy products, and more, so there’s certainly no shortage of tasty food to try! Tawnya Turner, the marketing and sales director for Dallas Retirement Village, has been with the community for almost 9 years now, and is constantly amazed by how quickly those years have passed. “When they
say ‘pick a job you love and it will never feel like work’… well that applies to me.” Her greatest reward working at Dallas Retirement Village is all the wonderful people she meets, whether they become residents or not, and the beautiful love stories and interesting life adventures they share with her. “Being able to assist individuals with a transition to senior living is just an added bonus,” Tawnya relates, “as most become like extended family.” August marks the 75th Anniversary of Dallas Retirement Village, and conversations within the community are ripe with individuals sharing how they worked at the original nursing home as a candy striper, or that their son had his first job here washing dishes, or their parents were one of the first couples to move into the “Village Apartments.” David Parrett, the executive director of Dallas Retirement Village for 24-plus years, has seen a lot of growth and change, but one thing that will never change while he’s at the helm is the service residents receive, and the way everyone is treated. “I believe you treat everybody the same way, and you treat them in a compassionate and caring manner,” David explains, adding, “I love what I do. Feel we can make a difference. And I’m happy to be a small piece of that for our staff and our residents.” Strongly rooted in the community, Dallas Retirement Village maintains relationships with the local schools and college, inviting students to interact, perform, and educate the residents. Seniors “who never stop learning” are able to remain more independent, and increased physical and mental interactions tend to “keep us younger.” Dallas Retirement Village just completed an expansion at the end of last year that added an Indoor Pool & Hot Tub, Wellness Center, Stateof-the-art Exercise Equipment, Salon & Spa, and a beautiful Roof-top Patio with an amazing view you need to see to appreciate! Next on the horizon, and at the request of many residents, is an Outdoor Pickleball Court. Call today to arrange your private tour! 503.623.9211.
