Jaywalker Lodge provides extended care residential treatment, transitional residential treatment, sober living and integrated outpatient therapy for men. Our programs are designed for clients with a history of primary care treatment and men with a history of treatment and sobriety followed by relapse.

The minimum length of stay at Jaywalker is 90 days; about half of our clients opt to stay in residential programs for six months. After completing our clinical programs, about 80 percent of clients and their families choose to stay in Carbondale and enroll in sober living, outpatient therapy and aftercare groups as a way of extending structure and accountability in their recovery for up to a year or longer.

THE LANDING

SOLUTIONS

Prior to joining Jaywalker, new clients are first admitted to The Landing program. The Landing is new clients’ introduction to Jaywalker staff, programs, community and expectations. Ensuring our clients are comfortable in their transition into Jaywalker is important to us.

Solutions provides a 90-day transitional living program where motivated men live and work on their recovery in a real-world treatment setting. With a holistic focus on mind, body and spirit, the therapeutic focus of Solutions is to enhance each client’s existing foundation in recovery through highly individualized life skills training, case management and addiction counseling.

During this time, we will gather previous treatment records, schedule a physical clearance appointment and complete a clinical initial assessment.

The Landing programing includes attendance at AA/NA meetings, individual counseling, recreational activities and daily chores. Time at The Landing ranges from 3-10 days and is in addition to the 90-day Lodge program.

THE LODGE The Lodge program has an intensive clinical focus, with a minimum of 20 hours per week of individual and group counseling, extensive written assignments and an ongoing emphasis on Step One of the 12 Steps.

The Lodge also integrates a rigorous mountain-based expedition experience, which includes structured outings on Mondays and Thursdays, and at least two 4-day/3-night backcountry or service expedition trips in every patient's 90 day-treatment cycle.

Clinical treatment plans at Solutions vary greatly depending on the aptitudes and interests of each individual client. Solutions staff will cater treatment plans for clients toward either a vocational or academic track. Real-life treatment plan objectives may include career guidance and assessment, continuing education, community service, mountain or service expeditions or part-time employment.

To strengthen their foundation in recovery, clients also engage in common daily disciplines, including morning meditation, daily chores, physical fitness and 12 Step meeting attendance.

Jaywalker is now partnering with Colorado Mountain College to offer men in recovery a collegiate community to support their sobriety as well as their academics.

Solutions accepts patients upon completion of a 30 or 90-day community-based residential program other than Jaywalker Lodge, based on clinical recommendations.

SOBER LIVING, OUTPATIENT AND AFTERCARE Upon completion of The Lodge or Solutions programs, many clients opt to remain in the local community to maintain the momentum of their new lives and continue their recovery. Jaywalker graduates receive individualized aftercare plans to support their recovery.

Aftercare options in addition to alumni aftercare are Outpatient or Sober Living with Outpatient.

The Jaywalker alumni aftercare program is available to all sober program graduates at no charge and is open-ended. All clients are recommended to attend weekly aftercare group therapy sessions for 6-9 months. Our aftercare group meets at Jaywalker Lodge every Wednesday after the alumni dinner. We also offer quarterly alumni expedition trips and an alumni volunteer program.

Jaywalker's Sober Living home provides structured affordable housing for Jaywalker grads seeking to transition safely into the sober community while attending our Outpatient program. The Outpatient program meets twice a week for 6 hours total. This is a 90-day commitment, and clients can opt to stay in the program for six months or longer.

A robust regional economy in tandem with a strong network of 12 Step program participants provide a variety of entry-level employment opportunities for newly sober graduates of Jaywalker programs seeking to establish a new life in recovery following treatment.

FAMILY PROGRAM Our family program is a four-day, three-night program offered to each client, along with as many of their family members as would like to participate. Sessions are conducted every six weeks and the cost of the program is covered in tuition.

Of course, family visits are encouraged throughout a patient’s stay with us, and we are always eager to facilitate a family counseling session and therapeutic passes for our clients whenever their families are able to visit our beautiful region.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES Outdoor activities are part of the mountain-based experiential component of our programs and are unique to Jaywalker Lodge–our Rocky Mountain setting provides clients with daily opportunities for aerobic activity and strength development.

These include walking, running, biking, yoga, CrossFit and weight training.

Weekly and monthly outings are also provided and include summer/autumn hut trips, camping, hiking, mountain biking, fly-fishing, rock climbing, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and rafting. Once ski season is under way, our staff and clients ski twice weekly at Aspen Highlands or Buttermilk Mountains.

PROGRAM PRICING Along with a completed admissions packet, we require payment for 37 days of treatment prior to admission, which covers 7 days at The Landing and the first 30 days of treatment. Jaywalker holds a general/medical deposit of $3,950 that is refundable if not used.

Payment for all Jaywalker services is required prior to admission and billed monthly at the all-inclusive daily rate.

PAYMENT

Jaywalker Lodge is a residential treatment program licensed by the State of Colorado Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division. Jaywalker Lodge is now accepting insurance with out-of-network billing capabilities and works on a reimbursement basis.

In the event that a client is discharged from Jaywalker Lodge for any reason prior to his scheduled discharge date, the treatment month will be billed at a prorated daily rate in addition to an early discharge fee equivalent to 10 days of treatment.

The first month’s tuition payments may be made by wire transfer, cashier’s check or ACH draft payment using our secure online site. Personal checks are accepted for subsequent monthly tuition payments.

If insurance reimbursements are received for a client’s policy, the reimbursement minus any fees affiliated with filing the claim will be paid back to the guarantor up to the rate of treatment. We will verify benefits prior to admission to see what coverage is available on your policy. We cannot confirm insurance reimbursement amounts, but will bill insurance on a weekly basis.

Upon discharge, the client will be placed into a local hotel with 24-hour supervision of a sober companion. If more than 24 hours is needed, arrangements can be made directly with Jaywalker Lodge.

Any refund for tuition or general or medical accounts will be refunded approximately 30 days after discharge from the program.

The program expectations at The Lodge and Solutions residential programs are fairly extensive. We have a zero tolerance policy toward any and all use of mood-altering substances, as well as acts or threats of violence toward others.

As a general philosophy, we view participation in Jaywalker’s programs as a privilege based on the promise of a better future in sobriety, and so compliance with all program expectations, including attendance at all scheduled individual groups and activities, is required.

Beyond that, we place the collective health and welfare of our community of clients above the wants and preferences of any one individual. An attitude of willingness and open-mindedness is essential to learn and grow in recovery; as such, service to others and absolute honesty is the code we live by at Jaywalker Lodge.

There is a mandatory pre-admissions telephone interview for all candidates seeking admission to The Lodge or Solutions.

Our programs are designed for men with a history of previous failed recovery or treatment attempts; accordingly, candidates for admission to Jaywalker must be motivated to recover and willing to comply with program expectations.

We treat men with a primary diagnosis of substance abuse, and we also treat dual diagnosis, provided a patient’s co-occurring mental health issues are managed.
