HELPING HEROES REBUILD THEIR LIVES Police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other first responders put themselves on the front lines every day.

First Responders Recovery is a Ft. Lauderdale-based substance abuse treatment program designed with the unique needs and circumstances of these first responders in mind. We are open to current and former first responders only, fostering a unique and supportive environment for those who dedicate their lives to community service.

Our programs are designed specifically to address the mental and physical impact of a career in public safety. We have retired first responders on staff who understand that every day on the job can bring a particular set of stressors for each first responder and their families, and our team works tirelessly to help our clients achieve lasting sobriety.

We combine the highest levels of clinical expertise with a genuine understanding of what it means to serve in a high-pressure first responder role.

Treatment is designed to help each first responder heal the damage caused by substance abuse and return to a happy, healthy life.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT PROGRAM We use a wide variety of modalities designed to assist first responders with treating the underlying causes of addiction. Our treatment methods combat addiction from various levels and work to: improve neural regulation, reduce PTSD symptoms, increase client’s ability to maintain sobriety, and heal clients both physically and spiritually. We incorporate group therapy, individual therapy, recreation, exercise and fitness, meditation and yoga, as well as team building exercises into our program.

ADDRESSING THE REALITIES OF THE JOB The level of stress that comes with a career in public safety is difficult for people on the outside to understand. Every day on the job stress for a first responder may be considered traumatic by others.

Exposure to violence, danger, traumatic events, and other daily stressors of a career in public safety take a toll physically, mentally, spiritually, and physiologically.

Our treatment program addresses the realities of the job and takes into account the specialized aftercare needs of our clients.

CAREER SUPPORT Most of our clients intend to return to their career in public safety upon graduation from our program. We work with employee assistance programs, unions, courts and other professional organizations to help support a client’s return to the workplace. We can assist with paperwork, documentation and other administrative necessities required to return to work.
