STRATEGICPLAN

ThenewStrategyPlan (2023-2027)willguidethe organisationoverthenext threeyears.Theobjectives, withintheplan,willhelpusto reduceinequalities,provide tailoredsupport,establish newregionalprojects, diversifyservicesandpromote digitisation.

COMMUNICATIONS &INTERPRETING

Wehaverecruitednewbooking co-ordinatorstotheteamto manageinterpretingcontacts innewareas.Ourhigh-quality serviceprovisionisaccessibleto evenmoreDeafpeopleintheUK.

COMMUNITY&CARE

CommunityandCarecontinues toprovideround-the-clock specialistsupportforDeaf, DeafblindandHardofHearing individualsintheirhomesand communities.Weareseeingmore referralstotheserviceincurrent andnewareas.Weareexcited thatnewservicesaremeetingthe needsofourclients.

HUBS CONNECT

Thisyearwehaveseenmore Deafandhardofhearingpeople attendingHubsConnectservices. Wehaveprovidedimportant informationtothecommunity whilefacilitatingsocialgatherings tocombatlonelinessand isolation.

D-YOUTH HUB

Wearedelightedtohave establishedtheD-YouthHubin DerbyforyoungDeafpeople. Webelieveitisvitalforyoung peopletohaveplacestomeet like-mindedpeerstosupporttheir languageandidentifyformation. Welookforwardtoopeningmore D-YouthHubsinnewareasinthe future.

EMPOWERINGINDEPENDENCE: SUCCESSSTORIES

NEW TO THE AREA

AyoungDeafperson,newtothe area,attendedaHubsConnect meeting.

Wewereabletoprovidemental healthsupport,financial management,informationabout accessingDeaf-friendlyappsand signposting.Wecollaboratedwith localprofessionalsandprovided Deafawarenesstorelevant organisations Theyoungpersoncannow confidentlyaccessmentalhealth servicesindependently,manage aweeklybudgetandcontact essentialserviceswhenrequired.

TheyknowActionDeafnessis alwayshereforthemiffurther supportisneeded.

OVERCOMING BARRIERS

ADeafmiddle-agedpersonwas referredbyasocialworkerafter adisputewithaprivatelandlord. Sheexperiencedsevereanxiety andagoraphobia.

Wewereabletohelphergeta newtenancyagreementand

DiscretionaryHousingPaymentto helpwithherhousingcosts.

ADwasabletosupporttheclient attendHubsessions.Theclient hasnowgrowninconfidence andattendsHubsessionsoncea weekbythemselves.

PARTNERSHIPS

ActionDeafnesscollaborates withotherorganisationsto sharegoodpracticeand increasetheimpactofour services.

Thisyear,wehaveworked closelywithQUADDerby’s CulturalHubandTheRoyal SchoolfortheDeafDerbyto establishtheD-YouthHub.
